rockindrummer 10-05-2005 07:32 PM

Win A Rabbit 10-05-2005 07:32 PM

i get monday off too. for christmas break, we get 18 days off, come back for 5, and get another 17 off (with 3 diplomas in there, but still.) man it's awesome.

rockindrummer 10-05-2005 07:33 PM

I just get two weeks, I think, off at christmas and then go back.

poppinfresh 10-05-2005 07:37 PM
i really want cymbals too. and a snare, and stands.

right now my "to by list" is as follows:14"paiste 2oo2 crunch hats and elim. stand
17" istanbul traditional crash and roadpro boom
6.5x14 cherry black panther snare and pearl 800 stand
16" zildjian A custom crash and stand (maybe a reg. A, not sure)
18" paiste innovations china and stand
8" paiste dark energy splash and clamp
18" paiste sig. fast crash w/ stand
18" 2oo2 novo china w/ stand
19" saibian HHX crash (not sure which, maybe a AA) w/ stand
20" istanbul sultan pang or 19" paragon china w/ stand

some snares and other drums in there and heads as needed.

that should keep me busy for a few years.
the 18 in fast crash is nice. If you have high pitched cymbals this wil make you like them low and nice, its a really nice cymbal.

Plan B. 10-05-2005 07:40 PM

I get friday and monday!

rockindrummer 10-05-2005 07:41 PM

^ Why friday?

Yo poppin, can you go check out that vintage zildjian thread in the gear and media. I want to know if you know anything about the cymbal I was talking about, last post. Thanks.

^ Awsome man, I don't have soccer either as it is thanksgiving so the season stops this weekend, then starts back up again next weekend.

Alone time is always good if you know what I mean :naughty:

Win A Rabbit 10-05-2005 08:05 PM

man i used to be amazing at soccer, but then i lost all interest in it. most of my lost interest was caused by the "politics" of the whole thing, once i saw how it was being run/where it was going/what reasons were behind it. once i saw that, i stopped playing high level soccer and started playing community level with my friends, then i just got bored of it. my parents are always nagging at me to get back into it, because they think i stopped so i could go get hooked on crack or something.

I play goalie and I totaly know what you mean. The ref I had last game was a total idiot and seemed like he was bribed by the other team. He missed 5+ offsides and overrulled a hand ball in the box. That penalty shot would have one us the game but the ref was an idiot.

i got close to my coach and respected him so much, then i got to the point where he'd actually tell me that he had found ways around the system to get every player he wanted on his team, and that he'd bribe ref's, and he'd teach the kids on my team things like how to injure someone without making it look like you even touched them, how to tackle someone so to try to take them out for the rest of the game, etc. needless to say, that was the last time i played for him, or any high level team, since i didn't want to be a part of that.

Epiphender 10-05-2005 08:37 PM

Bit late but I'm from Canada too. :)

-TheGlassPrison- 10-05-2005 08:43 PM

Nova Scotia Reppin BUH!

That is pretty intense. I have never heard of a coach doing that, but I havn't gotten close to my coach like you did. You're also older than I which might explain why it seems so much more physical.

Win A Rabbit 10-05-2005 08:46 PM

well at first, i thought it was "cool" to be able to hurt someone by barely hitting them, but once i saw how he acted towards other things, i realized i'd been kind of "brainwashed" into the kind of soccer player i had become, with a mix of immaturity (i had been taught these things since i was 12-13) and a desire to win. but i had no intent of winning like that. he was a good guy, too.

-TheGlassPrison- 10-05-2005 08:48 PM

I hurt some guy bad last weekend.. Ambulance and all..

Im 80% sure it was me that smoked him..

poppinfresh 10-05-2005 08:53 PM

im hoping to play under 19 AYSO. I really miss the game. Im trying to get back the old team.

Double Bass Jim 10-05-2005 08:53 PM

Tonight was good times at the drum off, Didnt win but met alot of great players. I talked to an older guy in his later 40's who had similar background with me, big peart and carl palmer fan he ended up winning and a younger black kid was runner-up. I guess it was really close as far as the voting went. Out of the 3 years i've played in it this one was the best got alot of nice complements after... good times. :)

Win A Rabbit 10-05-2005 08:53 PM

i got in a few fistfights in soccer too, but that had nothing to do with the coaching. mostly just me taking charge and setting the mood for the rest of the game. if there was one kid going around hitting all the little kids on our team, i was the guy who'd be right on his side, pissing him off the whole time. eventually they snap, and start throwing punches. it's really funny too. i'm always the good guy though, since i don't throw the punches first.

and congrats jim, the experience is what matters.

(i know i keep asking, but can you get rid of my stars please?)

poppinfresh 10-05-2005 08:54 PM

video???

did you win anything?

LoneStarDrummer 10-05-2005 08:55 PM

i tell you what soccer is a really tough game. in fact it's number one on the list of the most dangerous sports.

i used to play for about 6 years and was in love with the sport, but they didn't offer it in highschool until my junior year and i had already lost some of my interest so i didn't play. wish i had though.

Plan B. 10-05-2005 09:07 PM

Awesome Jim.

Double Bass Jim 10-05-2005 09:09 PM

They won't let you in with cameras into the store this year, and nope didnt win anything.

rockindrummer 10-05-2005 09:10 PM

That's cool jim. As you said it's a great experience and well theres always next year, to show up gc.

TGP that reminded me of how my guitarist broke his collar bone playin rugby yesterday. It sucks so much he can't play guitar for 3 weeks or somthing. So now we won't jam for way to long of a time, in the end it will be about 2 months total or so.

Sic I'm normally one of those guys to, when I play mid. I get right up in your face and talk back quite a bit, I got some other kid to get a red card by retaliating back at me. I've stoped that, somewhat, this year as I got kicked off the team i'm on now a couple years ago because of my attitude, so I figure it's a good team and i'd rather stay on it why not just not get so mad on the feild.

poppinfresh 10-05-2005 09:12 PM

haha thas exactly what i used to do. Everyone on the other teams hated me. I got this one mexican guy so made that he just ran straight for me, i ended up flipping over because we were running at eachother and my brain decided to turn off or something.

rockindrummer 10-05-2005 09:24 PM

^ haha. One game two years ago this little fat kid was being really cheap so I started to push at him and do the same thing he did to me, except I beat him down the wing :p Then totaly slide tackled me from behind so I was super pissed at him as he didn't even get a warning from the ref. I walked up to him and started pushing him a bit then he just pushed me back and was super pissed. As he was walking away to get back into position I shoved from behind, he was then so pissed that while he was on the ground he kicked out both my knees and I fell on him. The ref saw this and called us both over, he obviously knew that I had done somthing to the kid eventhough I don't think he saw it. He talked to both of us and then after he finished the kid started to walk away, the ref called him back and showed him the red card, he showed me a yellow and asked for my name and stuff, but while he was doing that I couldn't help laughing as the kid that got a red card was walkin off the feild crying! It was one of the funnier moments ever playing soccer. That little pansy was such a cheap bitch and then when he got what he deserved he couldn't even handle it

poppinfresh 10-05-2005 09:27 PM

hahaha was his name julian?
there was this fat kid on my team, he was the clumsiest player that i have ever seen, i dont know why he was playing soccer. During a game for some reason he went for the sam ball as he did, he endd up stepping on my toes and kept running into me so i ended up falling on my back while he was still standing on my toes. he cried about that.
