lol i know...pretty laughable

Poet 11-18-2009 09:22 AM

Don't make fun of Power Metal elitists.

pate 11-18-2009 12:31 PM
Pharaoh's latest album is ARRRGGGHHH of the power metal variety too mitch
Hell yes. Great band.

jrowa001 11-19-2009 01:37 PM

they need to come out with a new album, and i need to get The Longest Night

Morumbar 11-19-2009 03:31 PM

I have yet to come across a Userword post that isn't utterly retarded. Dude really needs to grow out of his 'poser this, poser that' phase.

Anyway, I've been getting into Grand Magus, though I'm not sure if that could be considered power metal. More like heavy metal or something, huh? Idk, anyway, I have Iron Will. What album should I listen to next?

Deth 11-19-2009 04:06 PM

Monument

not as good as Iron Will, but definitely worth having

Morumbar 11-19-2009 04:21 PM

Everything about Iron Will is just so damn catchy.

Thanks, I'll check out Monument.

pate 11-20-2009 01:23 PM

And after Iron Will and Monument, be prepared to be let down. The other two aren't anywhere near as good.

jrowa001 11-20-2009 01:49 PM

what? Wolf's Return is awesome

pate 11-20-2009 03:26 PM

Pfft. I don't like it.

jrowa001 11-21-2009 09:07 AM

that makes me sad

VoxDei 12-06-2009 10:44 AM

Quick question.

What power metal bands have the best singers? I do not mean "what power metal bands have singers that you like", I mean "what power metal bands have the most skilled singers".

For me, Rhapsody of Fire, Falconer, and perhaps Kamelot.

Just looking for some new music!

Stormrider 12-06-2009 11:47 AM

Hansi Kursch of Blind Guardian.

It's coincidence that he's my favorite. The skill that this guy has is incredible. Amazing power and range.

Poet 12-06-2009 12:23 PM

Hansi is excellent. So is Marco Hietala, Jarkko Ahola, Roy Khan, and my personal favorite who definitely has the best range...Daniel Heiman.
Pfft. I don't like it.
I think Wolf's Return is a superior Iron Will. I didn't like Iron Will one bit, though Like The Oar Strikes The Water and I Am The North almost make the album one of the best.

Tony Kakko of Sonata Arctica has a lovely voice.

wat

VoxDei 12-07-2009 03:28 PM

Yes, thanks for the suggestions, those are all good.

Anyone heard of Matthias Blad from Falconer?

pate 12-07-2009 05:23 PM

He's good but I get sick of him easily. I prefer guys who sound more like the typical metal singer. And I don't mean that as any kind of knock on him.

Shadows Within 12-08-2009 12:37 PM

Since were on metal singers real qick somethings been bugging me, i've been listening to a lot of Jorn Lande lately and i cant FOR THE LIFE OF ME pronounce his last name correctly, or mabye I am I can't tell, how is it pronounced?

Shattered_Future 12-08-2009 01:39 PM

Is it not pronounced like Yourn Land-eh?

Shadows Within 12-08-2009 01:56 PM

Thats what I thought but I wasn't 100% sure :p

I finally got Nightfall in Middle Earth in m car and even though the tracks are im pretty sure are out of place it's an amazing album, i used to love "Mirror Mirror" but I think Nightfall has officially taken over as favorite song on that album, the live version floating around youtube is incredible, perfect live band.

pretty excited about their new album now.

theres seriously nothing like driving around and screaming the chorus to The Curse of Feanor

oh and im not sure, but i think the "o" in Jorn Lande is supposed to be a ø, which isnt really found in English...you can kinda make it if you say the "e" in met with your lips rounded as if you were saying an "o"

Shadows Within 12-08-2009 02:54 PM

yeah the first name is pretty easy, pretty sure it's yoo-rn or something like that (it sounds better when i actually say it :p)

illmitch 12-08-2009 02:54 PM

yeah you cant really represent it without using IPA

Stormrider 12-11-2009 12:12 PM

:D

Morumbar 12-11-2009 12:43 PM

"If you asked me with which song the number could be compared I most probably would say "The Script for my Requiem" or "And then there was Silence"."

Omg fapfapfapfap.

ArcLite 12-18-2009 06:57 PM

Yeah, that sounds ace.

However, "we are targeting a late summer, early fall release" sucks. Can't believe how much time music albums take to make sometimes.

Stormrider 12-18-2009 11:39 PM

Blind Guardian are right on their "4 years between albums" schedule :p

RouteOne 01-26-2010 12:05 AM

K, I need the most corny and lol fantasy based power metal to ever exist.
