i signed up here a couple years ago, and quit after a while cause i got bored with it. i came back again, and i quit, again, because everyone here is so close minded that you cant voice an opinion without getting flammed. i come back one more time, cause im a musician, and i wana discuss music with others...i read the updated rule section, and quite honestly im appaled. you guys might as well list what we CAN do, cause it would be a lot shorter than the list of things we cant. i understand some of the older members get sick of seeing the same thing, but this has gotten outrageous, theres absolutly nothing to start conversations about thats not against the rules. what is the point of this site?
Those rules eliminate the threads that start the very flame wars that you complain about. If we allowed the threads that are illegal in the rules, the forum would turn into its old state - terrible. It's at a very good point. The community is great, there are very few massive flame wars anymore, and there is a lot of quality discussion going around.

The point of this forum is to discuss music with some form of intelligence, not to argue that Zakk Wylde can crush Bruce Dickenson with his voice, or that Tool is better than A Perfect Circle because A Perfect Circle "sux dik." We don't like those discussions, so we make them illegal. Those are where those threads end every time. I've been here long enough to tell you this with some credibility.

See where I'm going?

Maybe that one would be okay if it were renamed to be just the song that most influenced you?

sure it's good to have people back but do you need to make a thread and ask about ramen in it?

this was almost falling of the first page, but now it got bumped.

so a close would indeed be appropriate now :)

Agreed. It's pointless and is probably pit/sandwich(?!)thread-worthy

I'd say move it to the pit.

the2stranger 11-08-2005 02:33 PM

oh well
Jelle closed it already, so it's all good.

I would class that as a introduction thread and those are illegal in the pit.

These two have been simultaniously spamming up threads with pointless flames and other things. They seem to be on a quest to piss people off.

Joe 11-09-2005 06:54 PM

It's not a big deal, but I want to suggest that the mailing lists be sent out on some sort of standard. For example, having all the files be mp3 or something because mp3 plays on nearly every media player, unlike iTunes format or WMA

Sorry guys but can I ask you what "bumping" means?

Riva 11-10-2005 02:17 AM

Bumping is a process by which a users "bumps" a thread onto the first page by posting in it.

camelfarmer 11-10-2005 03:43 AM

Sorry about the thread dude, thanks for the link to the other one. I did read the rules and it didnt say that it wasnt allowed and it didnt link me to that thread, but then I only read the first post of the rules.
