Im assuming lars writes the drum parts and james writes most of the guitar. thats not fact just me assuming.
Drum parts don't usually get credited in the writing. That's why I was asking what Lars did.

Master Of Nebulah Frost 02-05-2005 09:43 AM

Lars rearranged the original 'Enter Sandman' riff.

I have some article on Hammett, and the more well known riffs that he wrote were the Seek and Destroy intro, and part of Enter Sandman. He wrote a few others, but those were the ones he mentioned in the article.

123 to everyone who said he needs to stick to solos.

Huber 02-05-2005 12:38 PM

He needs to stick to solos.

i dont think it has been anounced yet

DaveTheAmazing 02-05-2005 01:05 PM

I wonder what the front cover will look like. Metallica's Album's front covers are always interesting

he wasn't in the band when Seek & Destroy was written, that was Mustaine. But yes he wrote a good part of enter sandman and probably some more riffs

i hope it's not sperm. everything black and previous ruled

willis2441 02-05-2005 01:31 PM

gocaps is right. i like the RTL cover the most. loads cover was just plain weird. have you ever seen the music video for until it sleeps? its weirder than the one video.

willis2441 02-05-2005 01:34 PM

IMO almost all the intros on st. anger were hella good, but then the rest of the song wasnt good.and i didnt like lars' rimshots,it ruined the whole album.plus the whoreness of the songs added to the bad rimshots.

Joe 02-05-2005 01:36 PM

yea when i was watching SKOM i realized the guitarwork was actually fairly good. the solo work sucked, well, there weren't any solos. and the drumming was ok

Freezing Moon 02-05-2005 01:37 PM

I listened to St. Anger a few times and kind of gave up on it. Same with Load and Reload.

Metallica made great albums up to the black album, but imo, there is other things I would much rather listen to. Load and Reload were good CD's, just not my taste. I find that I have a hard time getting into mediocre CD's because there is so much other stuff I could be listening to.

well when it comes to those three cd's, i either pop in RTL or MOP or some other great album or just turn on another band

My point exactly. I'd much rather listen to something else. Besides, with all the music I got from the AIM thread, I don't have time to listen to all of it that I want anyway.

I haven't been in it, but there are plenty of other more recent and/or classic rock bands i'd rather listen to than load thru st anger. but most likely i'll listen to MOP or RTL

willis2441 02-05-2005 01:52 PM

load has two good songs and reload has one good song. st. anger has like three good songs, but everything pre-black you can listen thru the whole album.

Joe 02-05-2005 01:54 PM
load has two good songs and reload has one good song. st. anger has like three good songs, but everything pre-black you can listen thru the whole album.
eh, for the most part. there's probably 4 or 5 songs black and previous i don't like

Freezing Moon 02-05-2005 02:05 PM
eh, for the most part. there's probably 4 or 5 songs black and previous i don't like
Same here, although I didn't really like anything in particular Black Album and up either.

Most of the pre Black Album stuff I don't like is from ...And Justice and a couple songs here and there. I don't like the lack of bass on AJFA.

willis2441 02-05-2005 02:06 PM

does anyone know where i can get the first garage days revisited( the one after mop, not the one after reload)

Joe 02-05-2005 02:07 PM
does anyone know where i can get the first garage days revisited( the one after mop, not the one after reload)
i have no idea. i think it'd be good, but i can't find it
does anyone know where i can get the first garage days revisited( the one after mop, not the one after reload)
I think I'll be searching my P2P programs for that... It sounds like it would be good.
yea i can't hear any bass on AJFA. and anything pre black that i dont like is on ajfa or mop
Same, I didn't really like "Escape" on RTL either though. I like it more than some stuff off of AJFA though.

shadow_stalker 02-05-2005 02:09 PM
does anyone know where i can get the first garage days revisited( the one after mop, not the one after reload)
Freezing Moon 02-05-2005 02:13 PM

I think RTL had the best cover.

Joe 02-05-2005 02:13 PM
Same, I didn't really like "Escape" on RTL either though. I like it more than some stuff off of AJFA though.
i don't like FFWF and FWTBT on RTL
and on MOP i don't like TTTSNB and LM

shadow_stalker 02-05-2005 02:13 PM

I might switch AJFA and Black Album though.

shadow_stalker 02-05-2005 02:16 PM

Freezing Moon 02-05-2005 02:28 PM
