OrdinaryBoy 02-08-2006 04:51 PM

I'm listening to:
The Ordinary boys; good songs are: Boys Will Be Boys, Week In Week Out, Maybe someday and Talk Talk Talk to name but a few.

The Arctic Monkeys (like every1 else). Their album is very good, also unreleased songs: Knock and Run and Settle For A Draw.

A brand new band I like are The Sunshine Underground, their song Commercial Breakdown is probably my favourite new song at the moment.

O yeah and masses of older stuff like: Lift - Radiohead, She sells Sanctuary - The Cult and Nothing Ever Lasts Forever - Echo and the bunnymen.

/looks that up

Ok, that looks awesome.

Dog 02-08-2006 08:06 PM

I tried out that Arctic Monkeys album. It bore me to death.

Seu Jorge - The Life Aquatic Studio Sessions
This is the guitar playing fellow from The Life Aquatic. All the tracks are acoustic versions of Bowie originals, aside from the last track, "Team Zissou." It's good, especially for a cover album.

Art Brut - Bang Bang Rock & Roll
I didn't like this at all when I first listened to it a few months ago, but it's cool, sarcastic feel has grown on me.

Daniel! 02-08-2006 09:03 PM

Agent Orange - Living In Darkness

First time listening to it. So far I'm loving it.

Happymeal 02-08-2006 09:21 PM

Just listened to Penance Soiree by Icarus Line. I really didn't care for Mono, but dis rok me gud.

BillCosby 02-08-2006 11:08 PM
OK I hear about this album all the time. Sum it up for me.
Instrumental electronica. But in an upbeat dancy way. But not in a stereotypical oonts oonts oonts European raver-club way. It's not straightforward dance, it goes off on some weird experimental tangents at times, and it uses a lot of metallic sounds and tones, but most of the songs still have a strong catchy hook.

I was gonna see Vitalic at the BDO, but I didn't.

br3ad_man 02-09-2006 06:02 AM

I didn't know what I would want to listen to this morning, so I put two random albums on my mp3 player, which turned out to be Stars and Daughters. I didn't feel like listening to either, but luckily I also had "New Grass" by Talk Talk on there and that's pretty much all I've listened to today.

pixiesfanyo 02-09-2006 06:12 AM

Tortoise - TNT

Bartender 02-09-2006 08:09 AM

Just listening to a bootleg titled "Ginger & Paul Gilbert - Acoustic Jam".

It's just what it sounds like, but it's quite good (apart from, sometimes, the sound quality - the disparity in volume between the playing and talking gets annoying); the two of them sitting in some small venue in Japan, taking requests (mostly for covers) from the crowd. Since they've got pretty much no control over what they play - and they don't feel they can refuse any requests - it all ends up quite chaotic. Some of the stranger stuff they end up playing includes acoustic versions of Ace of Spades and Suckerpunch, a song in Japanese, an advertising jingle (I think), and a Hanoi Rocks song that neither of them actually know.

Tomahawk 02-09-2006 10:19 AM

I got a Chris Isaak album today (Heart Shaped World)... he's better than I thought he was. Got a real Roy Orbison vibe going on.

I'm digging this Pakistani band called Junoon that a guitar student of mine last summer introduced me to, and they rock, but their music is extremely difficult to find here. The album I found is universally agreed to be the bad one. So if anyone has any Junoon, let a brother know.

Little Man being Erased 02-09-2006 04:16 PM

I'm listening to Heroes by Bowie, for only about the second time since I got it. It didn't really connect the first time, so I'm hoping for better results this time.

The first half is fantastic, but I think I had a few problems with the second half.

That's how my brother is. He said I "ruined" audioscrobbler by getting World/Inferno Friendship Society on the top ten most listened bands. Crazy kid.

You do know the story of his demise, don't you? It's really quite humorous.
