hey who was it that kept searching for that rolling stones song? did they ever find it?

edit- ya i thought about them for mandolins, but there wasnt actually a permanent mandolinist...man jpj could master any instrument.

Badmoon 10-04-2004 08:39 PM
i want a mandolin, i could figure it out pretty easily. i have played a few at music stores but they are too expensive.
how many classic rock bands actually had a mandolinist in their band? i cant really think of any offhand that had a permanent mandolinist, usually the guitarist would just switch over for a song or two.
I can't think of any Classic Rock bands.

BludgeonySteve 10-04-2004 08:41 PM

It's used in lots of songs. but a permanent one is unheard of in rock

gmoneyguy 10-04-2004 08:41 PM

My friend has a Mandolin, I have played it a few times, but I'm not sure if the notes are the same as a guitar.

Badmoon 10-04-2004 08:42 PM

I need a mandolinist to start my Jug Band.

thickasabrick 10-04-2004 08:44 PM

ya thats what i figured too.

hey by the way..i just wrote a parody of the song White Rabbit for my creative writing class. i have to sing it tomorrow with my guitar.

does anyone wanna hear the lyrics? they fit with the original song quite well. but i also want some criticism about any crappy parts that need fixing.

edit-its fun to sing over the original

Badmoon 10-04-2004 08:44 PM

post um up.

thickasabrick 10-04-2004 08:46 PM

k umm its about a mall near my house which sucks..theres hermit crabs though and they are cool...try to imagine the rhythm of the song, it makes it sound better.

One shoe was too large, and one shoe was too small
And the ones that you just tried on, don’t fit your feet at all
Where’s the employees, down at Northgate Mall

And if you go…to buy a shirt, and the colours are just too dull
Tell ‘em you have a…half price coupon, but the shirts are way too small
Where’s the employees, down at the Northgate Mall

When the jeans are too expensive, and you just don’t have the dough
And you just tried some kind of Mavi’s, and the waist was way too low
Where’s the employees, does anybody know?

When the hermit crabs in their shells, have fallen completely dead
And your so tired of shopping, your legs feel just like lead
You keep saying, inside your head…

I wish I were dead!!!! Wish I were dead!!!

thickasabrick 10-04-2004 08:47 PM

im a brutal singer though so im sure my class will hate it....my voice is like a weaker version of bob dylans.

BludgeonySteve 10-04-2004 08:47 PM

Nice :thumb:. Zwn 2 da mall.

Badmoon 10-04-2004 08:49 PM

Woodstock your avatar looks like a monster.

I wanna learn mandolin too. Sounds really sweet. The Battle of Evermore did it for me.

i dont know if woodstock is around right now..but i already made a comment, no need for more.

ya i love the battle of evermore. does anyone know who Sandy Denny (that was her name right) actually was? and no i'm not putting this in the Led Zeppelin forum because all they know about is stairway to heaven and how much "iT RoXs!!11!"

magicbus 10-04-2004 09:01 PM

I always thought it was a guy singing. I'll look up into that.

EDIT: You're right, a girl sang it.

http://www.informatik.uni-hamburg.de/~zierke/sandy.denny/

thickasabrick 10-04-2004 09:02 PM

nah on the liner notes for the record it says Sandy Denny, and i'm pretty sure its a girl even though Sandy can be a guys or girls name.

Bluesman522 10-04-2004 09:03 PM

I wanna learn a bunch of instruments, fiddle, sax, mado, autoharp, dulcimer, harmonica, flute, organ.

Badmoon 10-04-2004 09:04 PM

Greatest voice ever = The guy who played Jesus Christ on the Jesus Christ Superstar movie.

I'm sure the real life Jesus could have belted a few too :p

Bluesman522 10-04-2004 09:05 PM

Naw man, Tom Waits has the greatest voice.

magicbus 10-04-2004 09:06 PM

Freddie Mercury has a pretty good voice.

/me listening to Another One Bites the Dust.

Badmoon 10-04-2004 09:07 PM

Ohhh, I doubt he can take that one guy.

Bluesman522 10-04-2004 09:07 PM

Joplin and Dylan are pretty good too.

thickasabrick 10-04-2004 09:07 PM

i have the soundtrack to jesus christ superstar..the records all scratched up though and i havent tried listening to it.

Badmoon 10-04-2004 09:09 PM
Joplin and Dylan are pretty good too.
Dylan can't belt um, and Janis isn't much of a trained/technical singer. She had power.

BludgeonySteve 10-04-2004 09:10 PM

Neil Young lolz!1!

Nah kidding, though I sort of like his voice.

Whoever's the singer for lynard skynard, he's so funny sounding but it's so good :)

Bluesman522 10-04-2004 09:11 PM

I donno bout you, but personally trained singers just dont appeal to me.

BludgeonySteve 10-04-2004 09:13 PM

Trained is good. I don't care much for a talented singer. Just somebody who can sound good is all that matters.

Badmoon 10-04-2004 09:14 PM

Yea, but some...they're crazy....

Badmoon 10-04-2004 09:15 PM

This guy was going from....OOOOOOOOO to EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE in a like a .000000000005 second interval.

Iplaythegeeeeetar! 10-04-2004 09:15 PM

hey, im doing my national history day project on classic rock. the theme this year is communication in history. can you guys tell me what classic rock protested, or other good stuff about classic rock? and dont tell me it sounded good or was good, cuz i already know that :p

Bluesman522 10-04-2004 09:17 PM
