Well, I was looking at Destruction on Metal Archives, and found this band called Raise Hell. I know you guys will say they're not thrash, but from their biography, Destruction asked them to support them on a tour once. Now, I think if Schmier and the gang heard of these guys, then they must be good.

So far, I've been listening to a couple of their songs, and so far it's rather interesting. It's actually a hybrid between black metal and thrash, just like Destroyer 666 and Aura Noir, although I think some of the stuff from them (D666 and Aura Noir) could easily pwn these guys.

I downloaded some Raise Hell ages ago, wasn't too bad.

Downloaded RelXIV today by Overkill, haven't listened to it all yet, but some of its ok. :thumb:

Would someone mind sending me some Destruction over AIM? I haven't gotten into them, and I keep hearing good things...
i got some of destruction's cd, and metal discharge and the anitchrist sound alot different than there earlyer stuff. i like the antichrist and metal discharge is ok but i dont like there earlyer stuff at all, anybody else feel this way?
Blasphemy!!! Blashphemy!!

RavenousMetalist87 06-09-2005 09:35 PM

Thanks to GraveRobbers, I now have Horrorscope on my Ipod.

Well, that and Under The Influence. Except I downloaded Overkill III beforehand. Then I burned that track with the 11 others of Horrorscope and did some editing on iTunes, then bought Under The Influence.

Crazy, but I ended up figuring all that out.

Some tracks on Relix IV are great, others are exactly the opposite. One song I'm beggining to LOVE is "Love".

"Bats in the Belfry" is another cool and catchy song.

No, the earlier stuff is much better than the newer stuff.

whatduffhuck7 06-10-2005 11:48 AM

i think my destruction cds i got are F***ed up. or maybe it was my Atrac player. idk.

what are your guys favorite destruction cd's, and why? mine is The antichrist. i got that from RavenousMetalist87. never herd of them before he recomended them and i loved that cd. i got some of there other stuff but wasent impressed with it. the antichrist seems more of speed metal than thrash. basically the same thing but i consider bands like CoB, destruction the antichrist to be speed metal. bands like overkill, exodus, metallica, slayer to be thrash. i love songs like nailed to the cross on The Antichrist.

whatduffhuck7 06-10-2005 12:10 PM

if anybody wants to do a bunch of thrash covers with me over the summer send me a message on AIM: whatduffhuck. or just respond in this thread.

we could do songs like justice for all, four horsemen (metallica) slayer, megadeth. anything that has to do with speed metal or thrash. ive been playing guitar for 3 1/2 years and wanted to do some covers. nobody around my city plays drums and like thrash. so if your a drummer and like thrash and wanna cover some songs with me, please reply here. we will talk on Aim do determine what songs we are gonna do.

if you would like to here some of my guitar playing go to

i did these 2 songs in about 1 hour for the guitar and i did he drums on a keyboard. as you can hear, the drums suck.

Early Destruction > Newer Destruction > Non-Schmier Destruction (minus Cracked Brain)

What hurts early Destruction is the production values of those albums. If they were produced like The Antichrist or Metal Discharge, then they would own much harder than they already do.

Whatduffhuck7: I see minimal speed metal influence in The Antichrist. A few riffs here and there maybe, but for the most part it's damn good thrash.

FatalEnergy 06-10-2005 03:00 PM

speaking of Schmier......has anyone heard Headhunter? I just got Parody of Life last night and man, is it fucking amazing

yea i agree with what you said, non schmier albums suck worse than anything, and the production on the rest are pretty bad, but i still love the anti-christ.

Live Without Sense has the best production for a Destruction album, and it's an old one :thumb:

Exactly. Good sound, excellent setlist, and just overall great.

Above is a really good thrash band from Canyon Country, CA. I think that's about an hour away from where I live because these guys travel all the way to Hollywood to play gigs. They're called Mericless Death, so give them a listen and see what you think.

I might buy a release or demo from them if I can.

MAthiAS 06-10-2005 09:07 PM

I'll listen to them... mainly because of the name.

FatalEnergy 06-10-2005 11:58 PM

Hey Mathias.......did you record "Take no Prinsoners" with Audacity, because If you did, I'll throw the bass track on it!

I agree.

Has anyone heard all of the stuff without Schmier as i haven't heard a lot of it after Cracked Brain.

Yeah, I'm going to record another take today to fix the clipping. Do you want the file as .wav or .aup?

Toxik are solid technical-ish thrash, definitely check out their album called World Circus.

Stoic 06-11-2005 04:43 PM

World Circus...I'll definately look for it. Technical thrash (eg coroner, sadus) is what I like but it seems bands that play this kind of thrash are few and fairly unknown...

Freezing Moon 06-11-2005 05:43 PM

Bonded by Blood Update: All is finished recording, except the solos. I just need to piece the last part of the song together and get that damn second solo down. I should have it uploaded and posted by later tonight, but for now I have to leave.

That's my new one, I fixed up the clipping a bit, and the playing is slightly cleaner. I might do another one though.

RCA 06-11-2005 07:15 PM

Hey, do we have a final setlist for the covers competition?

Apocalyptic Raids 06-11-2005 09:50 PM

Well Bonded By Blood is confirmed. Not sure about anything else. Althought now we have until August 1.
