 that breakdown is broing as hell.
A good breakdown would be like Dance On Your Grave by Rifles At Recess, something dancy and melodic where you barely notice the chuggas. |
Massively obvious breakdowns are fun. They're just overused.
Wait, did you just say "melodic" referring to a breakdown? |

Did you just laugh at the prospect of a melodic breakdown? |

Did you just deny that breakdowns aren't supposed to be melodic? |
You're dumb as hell if you think breakdowns are always "chug chug", I remember you saying Beneath the Massacre doesn't have breakdowns!
But seriously, there are breakdowns in all kinds of music. A breakdown is a break from the rest of the musical piece, kind of like a bridge. It just so happens that metalcore bands tend to use chug chug breakdowns alot because they think it's brutal. It's not the only type of breakdown. Beneath the Massacre averages like 3 breakdowns per song. |
what is the main difference between metalcore and hardcore?!
sorry, but i just don't like -core genres in general except of noisecore and grindcore |
metalcore is metal and hardcore and hardcore is just hardcore?
|
what is the main difference between metalcore and hardcore?!
Hardcore is basically just punk but more abrasive, metalcore can either be hardcore-influenced metal or metal-influenced hardcore. |

LOL epic typo |
ah ok... so metalcore is good and hardcore is bad

However, the concept and idea of a breakdown has changed with certain genres; I was referring to the typical metal breakdown employed in recent years, and that those kinds of breakdowns aren't supposed to be melodic. repcak: Both metalcore and hardcore are good when done well. |

repcak: Both metalcore and hardcore are good when done well.
how arent they supposed to be melodic. what the **** are you talking about |
Yeah, seriously. Most of the best breakdowns are the melodic ones, why the hell do you think I love Through The Eyes Of The Dead so much?
ah ok... so metalcore is good and hardcore is bad
Not at all. I'd much rather listen to an average hardcore band than an average metalcore band tbh. |
Brutal usually/=/ melodic. Not that difficult of a concept.
Notice I said usually, though. |
LOL epic typo
broic typo |
That's not true at all. If anything you'd want a bridge to have melody.
|

yeah, maybe, but i was never a fan of hardcore.
the only band i really liked was A Perfect Murder - they were great! all other Hardcore/Metalcore stuff i got from Metalblaze was just boring... nothing special. |
ah ok... so metalcore is good and hardcore is bad
I'd say there are alot more bad metalcore bands than bad hardcore bands. I don't listen to either genre much though. |

In general, yes. What I'm saying is, If you're a deathcore band and want a brutal breakdown section, you usually don't try to employ melody....you try to employ brutality with simple, heavy riffing. I'm not saying it can't be done, I'm just saying a band has to look at what they are trying to accomplish with the section. |
TTEOTD has alot of melodic breakdowns that are ****ing brutal as hell.
MetalKult.com has just posted six MP3 audio files from a 1988 DEATH rehearsal.
In January 1988, the members of DEATH convened in Orlando, Florida, to rehearse six of the songs that would eventually wind up on the band’s second and highly influential album, "Leprosy". The tracks captured during that rehearsal are as follows: 01. Left to Die 02. Open Casket 03. Pull the Plug 04. Choke on It 05. Born Dead 06. Forgotten Past The DEATH lineup at the time included guitarist/vocalist Chuck Schuldiner, guitarist Rick Rozz, bassist Terry Butler and drummer Bill Andrews. Go to MetalKult.com to download these mp3s.
^^^ Oh und.
DEATH's classic 1995 album "Symbolic" will be reissued in March 2008 via Roadrunner Records. The remastered LP will include the original album tracks plus several previously unreleased, ultra-rare, mostly instrumental demo recordings that were completed in early 1994 with the lineup of Chuck Schuldiner (guitar), Gene Hoglan (drums) and Steve DiGiorgio (bass). The package will also come with brand new liner notes written by longtime metal journalist Don Kaye.
|
How did Roadrunner get ahold of that?
|
Probably helps that they released it originally.

Roadrunner wasn't always horrible.
