it's strange, I wasn't interested in psych at all in high school but after meeting some important people in my life and taking a dip in the mental health care system psych really jumped out at me as something i'd be more than willing to spend more than a few years learning about

i want to do research on mental health disorders, mostly
My sister wants to do criminal/abnormal psychology, it's a pretty interesting field but I don't think I could get into it.

adb 11-02-2010 11:45 PM
Brent you've told me many times you don't know what you wanna do when you graduate.
yep, thats correct but not at all relevant to my argument

my argument is business is the most practical because it deals with communication, psychology, etc. It deals with people, what this world consists of. Marketing deals with segmenting those people and targeting them for your product based on wants and needs.

computer science

my major has a far larger focus on logic that yours

so when i say you're retarded im not just making things up

mappy and i werent even here and adbs being a douche

cool bro. gj completely missing the keyword "practical" Although I would say your major is a lot more practical than most

larry david 11-02-2010 11:46 PM
Brent you've told me many times you don't know what you wanna do when you graduate.
ya but its practical because it gives him intense insight onto the workings of the world and why everybody does everything they do duh

masscows 11-02-2010 11:47 PM
My sister wants to do criminal/abnormal psychology, it's a pretty interesting field but I don't think I could get into it.
I'm going to have to take a class on that. I want to focus more on the clinical side of things, though. Criminal psych seems... disillusioning.

Angmar 11-02-2010 11:48 PM

I stand by believing that you can read all you want but can't acquire true knowledge of how the world and people work without first hand experience, books and wikipedia aren't perfect.

Not gonna make an argument out of it but it's something to think about Brento.

Anglachel 11-02-2010 11:49 PM

study business

pretend to be a psychologist

adb 11-02-2010 11:49 PM

steve, I have plenty of first hand experience. I am a consumer, I buy things. I know my segment. I talk to people, I know what they like and who they are.

I could segment all of you guys.

larry david 11-02-2010 11:50 PM

also brent youre reducing everything in the world to an economic interaction, im sure youre well aware of this but i want to point it out

xMalcolmXx 11-02-2010 11:51 PM

knowledge vs. wisdom

but yeah lets not argue about stupid shit brent has a point in that his major is practical and can be used more in daily life than say prepharm, lets let it die and talk about boobs or something

boobs

peni1s_wigglez 11-02-2010 11:51 PM

Anglachel 11-02-2010 11:52 PM

adb 11-02-2010 11:53 PM

there are also aspects of sociology!!!

larry david 11-02-2010 11:53 PM

Anglachel 11-02-2010 11:56 PM

its all sociology you're not studying the human mind you're studying people in economic situations n shit

masscows 11-02-2010 11:57 PM
there are also aspects of sociology!!!
the only aspects of psych and sociology covered in business are the ones that are relevant to you getting the most out of people as resources be they employees, consumers, etc. it's only used to maximize return on investment.

larry david 11-02-2010 11:57 PM

yes. That is pretty much the point of target markets in marketing. It's why I say demographics/psychographics so much.

Anglachel 11-03-2010 12:00 AM

and what exactly are you studying about the mind

adb 11-03-2010 12:01 AM
and what exactly are you studying about the mind
right now I'm taking a Consumer Behavior class. Behavior is the study of the mind right

larry david 11-03-2010 12:03 AM

goddamn it

masscows 11-03-2010 12:03 AM

it's not very in depth though

"oh, my business usually just sells magnets and keychains, but there's a gay pride parade passing by my street next week so i'll put a rack out front with tye dye shirts that say 'it's ok to be gay!' on them."

i mean, most of the situations you're looking at are pretty much just about throwing a wad of worms where the most fish are.

Anglachel 11-03-2010 12:03 AM

eh mybad then

you're studying a little psych

larry david 11-03-2010 12:06 AM

so anyway what are u guys up to

adb 11-03-2010 12:06 AM
it's not very in depth though

you'd be surprised how much non-sense there is when it comes to selling products. You might actually have to take a consumer behavior class for psych idk.

but its all about creating sales obv, the lengths companies go are pretty subtle at times. Ex. scents in stores, music, lighting basically the servicescapes and environments.

It deals w/ thresholds and shit like that. Updating packaging, etc

Anglachel 11-03-2010 12:06 AM
so anyway what are u guys up to
talking about psychology with adb what about you

botb 11-03-2010 12:07 AM

it's ironic that adb is studying psychology in a way.

larry david 11-03-2010 12:08 AM

oh nm just giving up on maintaining normal conversation

fuck u guys

Anglachel 11-03-2010 12:09 AM
