Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 05:39 PM

I just recorded all of Stinkfist on my first take. It was nearly flawless. Do you guys think that I should roll back the flange a bit, or is it good like that?

You guys did listen to it, right?

Thats pretty good, and I would turn down the flange a little. When you start mixing in the other elements it could hide the guitar...

Futuro 06-17-2005 06:52 PM

sounded good jake :thumb: i like the bend thing in the beggining riff :D

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 07:22 PM

Yeah, I thought it was too much flange as I was playing it, and it sounded even more so when I played it back after recording.

Mr Herb 06-17-2005 07:41 PM

who ever tha hell recorded the lateralus drums track is amd good. and the aenima thingy was grt too. you peeps are good at it.

Darkness 06-17-2005 08:50 PM

Anything interesting happen in the past 5 pages that can be summed up?

Mr Herb 06-17-2005 08:55 PM

a few grt clips of this dudes playing were psoted, chek em out. and well dunno they tlaked amogn themselves I just look, listen a li bit and yawn.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 08:58 PM

Faith+1 recorded the drums for Lateralus. We only have drums for that.

Clearvision recorded the guitar part for Ænema. We now have guitar and bass.

I recorded the guitar part for Stinkfist, but I will be redoing it sometime soon. We will then have guitar and bass.

Matter/Rounder recorded the insturmental parts for 46&2. Now we just need vox

That's about it. :thumb:

Mr Herb 06-17-2005 09:02 PM

in what page is the 46 n 2 thingy?

Mambuto_O'Mally 06-17-2005 09:17 PM

Yeah or that thing about all the songs fitting together?

If there are any more currently available for download, please let me know, and if possible, give me the link. I wanna keep everyone as updated as possible. :) I know there is Kurrpt and JoZ's version of Part of Me, but I don't think there is a readily availabe mp3.

Mr Herb 06-17-2005 09:25 PM

46 n 2 thingy should be sweet, thx

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 09:30 PM

46 & 2 is definitely the best one so far. It's the only studio quality song. The rest are recorded with either a computer mic, or using line in. it still works beautifully, though.

I just tried for the 4th or 5th time to download your drum track, Marshall.

Futuro 06-17-2005 09:50 PM

hmmmm??? im stupid when it comes to computers....so hit it :p

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 09:52 PM

Nah, everyone else got it. I'm going to break my mom's other knee if she doesn't by some form of faster internet. /pulls hair

Anyways, feel free to whore my post elsewhere on this forum. :p

Darkness 06-17-2005 09:52 PM

I heard it first try... I thought it was great, minus the staticy quality. But thats fixable.

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 09:55 PM

Which one?

Bump'd so more people will be able to see it.

Magicaltroll 06-17-2005 10:04 PM

Sorry to interrupt all of this cover talk...
But could someone PLEASE upload a version of the "Holy Gift" for me? My friend was a douche bag and erased alot of the things on my desktop, and thats where it was. So yeah. I'd appreciate it if someone could :D

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 10:09 PM

Aiden's Holy Gift or the ripoff of it?

AJIG was the first mxer to do it on his own, and I think several people have it now. I personally do not, due to my 5 kbps downloading speed...I'm sure Ben would be willing to hook you up. :thumb: In the meantime, check out the covers.

Thats what I'm doing right now :thumb:
And any version (thats good...) will do for me :)
I just really want it

Futuro 06-17-2005 10:20 PM

i might do Aenima......maybe

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 10:23 PM
i might do Aenima......After Stinkfist, naturally.
Sounds like a plan. :p

I think that I may record Stinkfist and Sober tomorrow sometime, if times permits. I may have to pull a 10 hour+ work day. Those suck. manual labor x 10 hours= no strength left to play guitar or stay awake.

Mr Herb 06-17-2005 10:25 PM

schism should be done later on. . .I think

Mr Herb 06-17-2005 10:38 PM

Id do the bass for it but ive got no pedals or studio or mics or anything like that, heck my amp is screwed up to

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 10:42 PM

I've said this before, and I guess I'll reiterate it: The problem with covering Schism is, being Tool's most infamous song, it would be one of the hardest to cover. Many people will have sort of a predefined mindset about the song, and they'll think "Oh, well that wasn't as good as the original," or something along those lines. There are plenty of better Tool songs that noone has heard. Still, it is an option.

Futuro 06-17-2005 10:46 PM

jake has a major point there :thumb:

im still D/L aenima 40 percent through :P

dam'n you dial up

Mr Herb 06-17-2005 10:49 PM

true true, althou i dont think anyone should expect perfection from the stuff done hre even thou its heck good.

bah your right, tons of other tool songs. like parabola!

Dr. Jake Destructo 06-17-2005 10:55 PM

 I hate to be a buzzkill yet again, but it has also been considered, and shot down, for 2 reasons.

1.) Many guitarists have a moral obligation against tuning their guitars to drop B. Not only that, but tuning that low will fuck up most guitars' necks.

2.) Vocally, it is a very hard song to pull off. Especially Parabol.

Mr Herb 06-17-2005 10:59 PM

lol not good. well how bout. . . erm. . .the patient? cmon!
