Where I live, the 2 "rarest" Opeth albums are D&D. By that I mean I've came across them least amount of times when browsing the Opeth CD's. (Only came across either of them once.)
Whereas the others I see more. I've realised that it depends on what shops you go to. I've never been in a shop that has all 8 "Observations" :p displayed. Has anyone? Usually they're are only 3-4 different ones, when I look.
No the most ive seen is four. |
I'm pretty sure i've seen every Opeth album apart from Damnation in stores near me. I live in England; and regulary see the albums a lot of people seem to saying are rarer.
|
Ive seen Orchid alot. I can find Morningrise or Still Life anywere. Im going to have to order them.
EDIT for otherside: At target are you serious. Ive only seen metalcore bands at target.
I've got Morningrise, and I just saw Still Life the other day. :) |
I went to Costumer Service and they gave me Radiohead - Ok Computer.
Ha...wow that's sad. There are three cd stores where I live, and in every one of them the only Opeth release I've ever come across is GR, which I already own. They said they could order it in for me, but the last time I tried to do that it took two months :/ |

Whenever I go in there and want something, I always end up ordering it. And when I do order it, the retard behind the counter mocks the band name, or the album art etc etc. Yeah, he needs to just go die somewhere. There used to be one full rack, like 30 feet long just for metal/hard rock. Now it's almost all Rap. I was amazed to see they had 1 copy of each: Orchid, Morningrise, Still Life, Deliverance but no Ghost Reveries. I'd figure that Ghost Reveries would be flooded on the Opeth selection tray, but nope. |
Ghost Reveries has been sold out lately, what with the sales and all.
|
At the best buy here where I live, they normally have the entire discography minus Still Life, but I have seen it there before.
|
I go to Ironwood Ridge. Theres a store down on Campbell called CD City. I was in there earlier to get a Dark Tranquillity album today and they had Orchid. but i had to order MAYH, and havent seen still life.
Ohhh I know you, you're cameron right? I go to irhs too, i'm david, i hung out with you, patrick and austen at lunch last year |

Yeah its me. Havent talked to you in a long time. |
They don't even mention the concert on their website. Anyway, it's the premier concert/stage play joint in the city so it shouldn't be over 18. Yay, I'm seeing Opeth.
Yer I even rang the place up and they had no clue, this was about mid December, i'll probably give another ring February to see if they have things sorted out  Which date are you going to go on? I'm going to go the 24th since next day is anzac day and i won't have to wake up for school :) p.s. turned 17 on 27th, yay! |
Hey guys.. I mentioned before I was going out to get a bought version of Morningrise... well the store was sold out of them, BUT they had Orchid and My Arms, Your Hearse! So I bought both of those! :D

Nice...cant have one so you got two. Thats the way to go. Im listening to The Amen Corner right now. |
Yeah so talking about albums... I finally got to watch the "Lamentations" DVD. Fucking amazing. Despite the vocals being a bit odd here and there, It's an amazing watch. The documentary is pretty informative.
And that's how I really got into "Damnation". I really can't get over "Hope leaves" and "In my time of need". Amazing stuff. Just in case you wondered, of course. :D:D |

Morningrise > Orchid + My Arms. Maybe, anyway. Still, I wouldn't be disappointed with two new Opeth albums. |

I bought both of those on Thursday. |
I'm just happy because... they're normally impossible to find around here.

I really need to get Lamentations, though I haven't been able to find it anywhere. Where did you'll get it at?
|
If you live in the US, you could probably find it at Best Buy, or Amazon.com definitely has it
|
Best Buy doesn't have it, I guess I'll have to get it off Amazon.
|
Was reading the local Vancouver newspaper (The Province) the other day, and they were listing the top 10 concerts (in Vancouver) and albums of the year. Strangely enough, Opeth made it to both lists.. I don't disagree with it, I'm a huge opeth fan and loved the concert and GR, just strange that a death metal band is even mentioned in a mainstream newspaper like The Province, kinda cool..
|
I got Lamentations from Spec's for about $11.
Huzzah for mainstream Opeth mention. |
The one place that had Lamentations doesn't have it anymore...checked there today.
It was overpriced though... |
17 bucks for a DVD wasn't overpriced to me, but considering it's actually around 11 bucks... Hell. Whatever. I have it with me anyways.
Anyhow, I've seen most Opeth albums run around with tag prices over 20 bucks and I ask ""wtf" and they tell me they are "rare". "rare". ¬___________¬ |
Most ive seen an Opeth album for is like $15.
|
I've seen $18, but not $20.
|
Most ive seen an Opeth album for is like $15.
Wow I wish I had your CD stores. The cheapest one I could find at mine was a copy of Ghost Reveries that was going for 18. I hate FYE. |
Oh god, FYE is one of the worst places to buy stuff...
|
I've seen $18, but not $20.
Wow that's cheap. Opeth albums are about £14-17 here which is about $30. Though Still Life is really cheap here for some reason at about £7. |

Still Life you can't find anywhere here...I think that's because stores here have to import it, while over there, you don't. Dunno why the rest are so high though... |
