Does anyone know an allaround easy song to play by metallica for a band starting out besides for whom the bell tolls ?
enter sandman would be fairly easy. so would most things off the black album
i havent seen/heard live sh!T but i want too
get it. i'm dead serious. go on amazon.com right now and buy it

Joe 02-03-2005 10:56 PM
i want Cliff em all .. But I cant find it anywhere
yea i've been looking for that. all i've seen are S&M and Live Sh*T. I want Cliff Em All

Po0sH 02-03-2005 11:08 PM

Cliff em all is cool, but after a few times around, i got bored, maybe it was the bad quality videos, since they weren't filmed amazingly.

Freezing Moon 02-03-2005 11:13 PM

I d/led Cliff 'em All off of Bit torrent, I'd like to buy it now because its pretty good.

metal_milita 02-03-2005 11:13 PM

Hey gocap99 got stars! good for you man, you've earned it. Lol I'm the first one that gave you your points so smooth.

Cliff 'Em All isn't GREAT although it is good. Live **** is just amazing to me, and I'm watching SKOM so I'll comment on it after I know what I'm talking about :D

acefrehleyjendell 02-04-2005 12:15 AM

What do you guys think of Blackened?
Personally it is fast becoming my favourite Metallica song.

I got AJFA once again, my FIFTH copy since 1993.

I also dowloaded a video of the Reload tour which i was at in Sydney.
You can see me for about 5 seconds six times roughly when they play
One and Battery. I think i was about 11.

ArcLite 02-04-2005 12:17 AM

Heh, I'm only on my 2nd copy of AJFA. Blackened, also one of my favorite Metallica songs. Seems to me like one of their more driving and powerful songs.

blue3 02-04-2005 12:22 AM

I like One and Harvester of Sorrowfrom that AJFA CD..

acefrehleyjendell 02-04-2005 12:33 AM
Heh, I'm only on my 2nd copy of AJFA. Blackened, also one of my favorite Metallica songs. Seems to me like one of their more driving and powerful songs.
Yeah and i think the intro is probably the best peice of music ever written.
It's so emotinal and when it kicks in it just goes balls to the wall.

I reckon the chorus is their best also, except for puppetts of course.

Do they still play Blackened live?

If so i hope they don't butcher it like they have with One.

I've only heard it from my video and S&M live. But they don't even
play it thrashy in the thrashy parts, which to me is what Metallica were
all about.

Once again, Blackened is so underrated. Top Song.

ArcLite 02-04-2005 12:38 AM
Blackened is so underrated.
Not really chief. Most fans agree its one of their best.

opeth_oasis 02-04-2005 12:42 AM

everything before the black album and the black album is absolute gold, not a fan of the newer stuff but i wouldnt say it was crap

i think load wouldve been a classic id theyd just combined it with reload and ditched all the b-grade filler that both r riddled with. eg. cure, poor twisted me, fixxer

Reload is compiled from the songs that the band felt weren't good enough to be on Load.

EMILY 02-04-2005 10:28 AM

What Do You Think Is Best:
King Nothing
Vs
Nothing Else Matters

i thought fuel, memory remains and unforgiven 2 were great songs, but im nbot that fond of the rest of re-load
i thought fuel, memory remains and unforgiven 2 were great songs, but im nbot that fond of the rest of re-load
Either the band didn't think they were that good, or they decided to save some strong songs for ReLoad.

And I would pick King Nothing over NEM. I hate that song. It's a mediocre ballad but for some reason everyone believes to to be the best.

ReturnToRock 02-04-2005 10:44 AM

good idea for a topic. things need organizing.

my view on metallica is that they should become a strictly live band. i know sometimes bands need a little different twist and that it must suck to have to sing and play «creeping death» in every show for over 20 years now. but nothing can excuse what they did with «st anger», which i can only call «selling out». nobody needs metallica to sound like Korn.
i am an open minded guy and i respect bands who change their sound, like slayer did with their last album, but metallica went a tad too far. i wouldn't suggest they call it a day because they're still in good health on stage, but they could become a strictly live band like the Stooges or the Doors are now.

these are my two cents, flame at will. and remember....«RTL» lives on.

shadow_stalker 02-04-2005 10:44 AM

king nothing is a brilliant song, dont get me wrong nothing else matters is good but it just gets kind of boring after awhile

also Live shit is brilliant, if your a metallica fan you should get it. I think it's a load (get it 'load'?) better than cunning stunts :thumb:

ReturnToRock 02-04-2005 10:46 AM

oh yeah - and speak no evil of the greatest ballad ever - «nothing else matters»!!!
i also love «low man's lyric» from ReLoad, but that one is just the best (not considering Fade to Black because it's not a «real» ballad, and the same goes for «The Thing...» and «Sanitarium» )

You can't call it selling out because you don't have a single clue as to what thier motivations were behind changing their sound. ok?
Try listening to the album somtime, it sounds nothing like Korn.
You're an open minded guy who thinks they should become a live band because you don't like the way they changed their sound?

Define nu-metallish.

hellraiser123 02-04-2005 11:04 AM

nu-metallish.....crap

ReturnToRock 02-04-2005 11:04 AM

well, to me they sound like a bunch of beginner kids in a garage trying to define their sound, which they shouldn't by now.

nu-metallish as in «influenced by the new metalcore scene»

munky_magik 02-04-2005 11:06 AM
nu-metallish.....crap
*sigh*
Just because don't like it doesn't mean that it is crap. It just means that you don't like it.
I really wish people would stop trying to dictate their fucking music tastes to the world.

shadow_stalker 02-04-2005 11:07 AM

well if thats true it would take a bunch of very talanted kids to make stuff like that

shadow_stalker 02-04-2005 11:08 AM

there is no such thing as crap music, it is just not to your taste

It's true though.

You might sigh all you want, but as much as I despise Metallica, it would be more prudent for you to say "it's not my cup of tea" as opposed to saying they suck. That's like a 3 year old temper tantrum. If so many other people still dig it, and they still sell millions of records, clearly, they don't suck. You just don't dig em anymore.

The same applies to every band out there you don't like. You don't like em. But your authority to say such things in a blanket manner is not higher than anyone else. Your ears hear crap, other's hear awesomeness. Your opinion is just that, an opinion. Old saying.. "opinions are like assholes, everyones got em".

So you see? You can think it sucks, but it won't. It just means you don't like it anymore. If you come off with that attitude, where you think everyone you don't like sucks, you won't last long here.

Yeh that was a nice speech, metallica are my fav band, my opinion is just thatthe music out today known as 'nu-metal' has absolutly no originality to it, all the riffs and licks are taken, or stolen from previous successful bands. Yeh you might dig back at me for this, but i just dont believe that todays music is unique at all...

shadow_stalker 02-04-2005 11:37 AM

fair enough, i'll try not to.

i got the 'justice' guitar book a couple of weeks ago, for a sequencing thing that im doing for music tech, harvester of sorrow sounds pretty good played with violins and other orchestral instruments (that is until it gets to the parts with heavy distortion).

just thought i would share that with everyone
