wow this band is amazing i almost have the guitar down it is just so crazy hard though.. :(

MattSharpIsCool 03-22-2007 09:49 PM

I dont know if you're trying to be funny, but if you are, try being more original.

JuggerKnoT 03-22-2007 11:49 PM

what? i just started playing 2 weeks ago im not a pro yet give me a break :(

MattSharpIsCool 03-23-2007 01:25 AM

Ok. I figured you were trying to bash on Toms mad skillz. My bad.

I'm bad at guitar too, so no worries.

JuggerKnoT 03-23-2007 01:26 AM

well that's the thing i want to get good but all my friends are guys  and they are like girls can't play guitar they can only play bass but im trying to show them wrong

MattSharpIsCool 03-23-2007 01:36 AM

I've never understood that. The bass is a very manly instrument, what with it weighing 15 pounds, and having a huge neck, strings, and frets.

You just gotta get some confidence on the guitar. Once you know what you're playing, and you know you can play it, it's easy as hell.

JuggerKnoT 03-23-2007 01:44 AM

ok thanks :)

i know it is so big, i couldn't see a girl like me even being able to use something that big

B 03-23-2007 05:34 AM

bass is more manly than guitar your friends are stupid

like bass is low like a guys voice so its like for guys and guitar is high like a girls so its like for a girl amirite

Surtr 03-23-2007 08:16 AM

Truth.

I wanna' get a bass actually, just because I'm slowly falling in love with my friends bass.

But tbh, some of the hottest girls I've ever known were huge bass players.

Hot girl + bass guitar = crappy skill

imo

African American's have it coded in their DNA to rule at bass though. I suck at it

:'(

10571z 03-23-2007 06:25 PM

IM ok at bass. I learnt for like 5 years. But now have slacked off music.

But deffintly learn guitar first and then play bass. I did it the other way and sorta screwed myself.

nobodyblossomsforever 03-23-2007 06:39 PM

I've only been playing bass for 3 years. I feel like I was better when I first started learning than now, mainly because my skill (using the term 'skill' loosely) has not really been up to par with others since then. I should get out of my rut but it frustrates me too much.

Surtr 03-23-2007 06:47 PM

How'd we get on this subject anyways? :p

Blink 182 - Enema of the State

So I just listened to this album for the first time in maybe 4 or 5 years, and I still love it. I still know pretty much every word on the album, and I just can't not like it. Adam's Song absolutely pwns.

Discuss the awesomeness of albums from days gone past that you wouldn't like if you heard it for the first time now, but because you know it, it retains its brilliance.

Normally bass players have a better knowledge of music theory and scales out of necessity. They rarely use chords, plus they need to have something to stand out instead of just being "the bass player".

So really, learning bass first is not a bad thing. You get that basic knowledge of music, and it gives you something to build your guitar playing off of.

It's a lot easier to write music for a band on your guitar if you can picture or hear what your rythm section will be doing.

This album got me through 7th grade. Still love it to this day and listen to it a few times a week. Dude Ranch might be slightly better though.

cobert 03-23-2007 07:32 PM

I started on bass then switched to guitar out of necessity since nobody else could play guitar and I felt bass was a bit easier for a beginner. Then the bassist sucked anyways and it ended up just being me on guitar and a drummer making music.
How'd we get on this subject anyways? :p
IDK I just popped in when someone mentioned bass lol

btw I repd you and got no thnx :p

nobodyblossomsforever 03-23-2007 08:44 PM

My tastes change too much so I don't think anything I listen to after a long time doesn't really retain any brilliance anyway :/

cobert 03-23-2007 08:52 PM
dude ranch > enema
Yop.

I dont think I'd like a lot of pop-punk if I heard it today, but I love it from way back when I was just getting into it.

The Second Stage Turbine Blade wouldnt be the same if I hadnt been into it for so long. Great album.

Eliminator 03-23-2007 08:53 PM

I remember listening to Enema constantly when I was like 10.

It's fun.

If you wanttt?

nobodyblossomsforever 03-24-2007 10:26 AM

IDK why but my tastes for blink have just kinda, faded. It's rather sad, but you can't force music down your throat and expect to like it. :-\

Surtr 03-24-2007 10:37 AM

Yeah, I lost all taste for Blink for a while to.

The other night though, I gave 'em a listen, and I'm glad I did :)

nobodyblossomsforever 03-24-2007 10:54 AM

I guess it may be because of the whole AVA and +44 thing. It all sounds the same so it just gets annoying after a while.

123 I remember I heard All the Small Things for the first time when I was at my cousins house. I got Enema and listened to it all the time.

B 03-24-2007 05:53 PM

i got into blinnk from my dad he had dude ranch and enema lol

nobodyblossomsforever 03-24-2007 09:52 PM

It's funny how I discovered blink. It was off a Now 4 commercial lol

I was like "huh? who is this blink-182?" Then I heard All The Small Things and was like "rad" then my cousin who had like every freaking album they had out got me into them. I think that's when I got into pop-punk. It's funny that I hate my cousin and don't really like blink-182 anymore lol
