well they are getting old(all in thier 40s i believe except Justin), not that age has a huge effect on songwriting, but it can in vocals and drumming. Danny is like 44/45 i think, i wonder if he could drum in a Meshuggah-like style which rumors say he might be doing. i wouldnt be surprised if this is their last album but i hope its not.

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 08:39 PM

I have 5.

Theyll prob make one more album.

PeEpHoLe_10 07-12-2005 08:39 PM

Really? Holy crap, i didnt think Danny was that old. Im sure Myanard is only like 36 though...

no he was born in '64 so hes like 40/41 now

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 08:45 PM

they are not that old. . .

TheSubtleArts 07-12-2005 08:46 PM
they are not that old. . .
unless toolshed has their dates of birth wrong, yes they are...

EDIT: or maybe you mean that 40 is not that old..

Magicaltroll 07-12-2005 08:49 PM

I thought they were in late 40's.
Now that I know this, I think they have one more after this one :thumb:

PeEpHoLe_10 07-12-2005 08:50 PM

Wow, thats very surprising. I think that this will be their last album.

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 08:52 PM
unless toolshed has their dates of birth wrong, yes they are...

lol its not. And hey they arent like fat hippos or like really thin. . .they got lots of left in em

TheSubtleArts 07-12-2005 08:53 PM

i was surprised when i first say thier birth dates, especially Danny('61) older than my dad lol

coddingtown 07-12-2005 08:54 PM

If this is their last, I can bet that at least a couple members will form good side projects besides the ones they already have. Id be curious what Adam does musically after they break up.

Magicaltroll 07-12-2005 09:03 PM

Yeah, I'm interested in Adam mostly when they break up. Also Justin.

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 09:16 PM

I think one or two of the dudes from tool will re join once tool splits and do something together

ThirteenthStep 07-12-2005 09:18 PM
Yeah, I'm interested in Adam mostly when they break up. Also Justin.
i think apc will kick out another one, possibly more than one.

TheSubtleArts 07-12-2005 09:19 PM

They might as well all just stay in Tool if they still have it in them to make more music, instead of going to seperate projects. They would have a much larger fanbase on their side and make a lot more money probably.

And they care at all about money?

TheSubtleArts 07-12-2005 09:26 PM
And they care at all about money?
maybe. once you start getting to the age were you stop making music, you might want to have enough money to support yourself for the rest of your life. But i think everyone can agree that another Tool album will sell more than an Atom Jones side project album for instance. Im not saying they only care about money when making an album, but it verywell may be a factor in how many more albums they will continue to make as they near the end of their Tool careers possibly.

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 09:32 PM

True.

But they might just want to play for fun like danny does on volto.

Adam would perhaps go back to making movies and stuff. . .

Danny as I said has a band and also has pigmy going on

MAynard has apc and well justin. . I dunno much hes likes and stuff

i highly doubt that. with their outlooks on life, they have much more than enough money to live. think about it

Maybe Justin woud do something with his former band Peach, which i think are(or maybe alreday have) re-releasing thier old album. I think i would be more interested in what he does after Tool if this is the last album.

Or maybe hell just disspear. . .

on a dream scenario hed join apc :D

I know, what i said would probably apply to most other artists, but how much do we really know about them and their lifestyles except for their general lifestlyes. money may be a somewhat important issue in not supporting themselves but maybe family, children, ect...
(i only know for sure that Maynard has a son, i dont know about anyone else in the band).

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 09:41 PM

maynard has apc and makes movies. . hes got money covered
Rap dosen't bother me when it has good lyrics, or at least something better than Ludacris' lyrics. Most rap today is just crap. I really can't think of many talented rap artists that are are also very successful.

Kanye West is good. I wouldn't listen to him, but I definately respect him.
I love Ludacris. :upset:

But really most of the rap I listen to is more poetic like Nas, Talib Kweli, and De La Soul.

ThePatient 07-12-2005 09:59 PM

I could see this being their last album, though I hope its not. Maynard seems to be the type of guy who would want to go off leaving us wanting more (I say Maynard because he's the only one I ever hear from), giving the band that "what could've been" type of aura. As much as I love the band, I really cannot stand the mysterious shadow they try to throw over themselves. I can totally understand when you hear people say that the pretentiousness of the band turns them off.

And about age, all the Members of Rush are 52 and they don't show any signs of aging when they play, so I don't think it'd be a real issue.

When there's a band as interesting as Tool, ever, there is a huge deal of pretentiousness. I can't see any other band putting as much effort into the level of interest every single album and song like Tool has. Tool has accomplished what every band dreams, where the depth is interesting enough for one fan to be completely indulgded into the band. It's almost like they are more than a band, and alot of people veiw them this way.

lol.

thats reall really true dude.

They dont have to relly on image or realising something often to keep people interested

ThePatient 07-12-2005 10:11 PM

I know, and I try to draw the line there. I can't view a band as anything more than a band. That's why I never dive into the writer's meaning of the lyrics or anything, and stick with the way the songs make me feel.

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 10:17 PM

hmmm. Some songs make me feel certain ways msot of the time. But there are thoose times when they dont make me feel anything. And i wonder why. Does that happen to you?

ThePatient 07-12-2005 10:25 PM

Yeah sort of. I listen to H., Push!t, and 4degrees before I go to the doctor because they tend to mellow me out and straighten my head, if that makes any sense.

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 10:31 PM

lol right you have that thingy. thats gotta suck.

I just had an emotional encouter with the girl I like. Didnt go well. I d normally id put the patient on real loud but since its late Ill put some radiohead wich. . .I can enjoy quietly:(

ThePatient 07-12-2005 10:40 PM

Actually, I just went today and the doctor said I'm cleared to get the colostomy reversed either August 3rd or 8th. So I guess my superstitiousness finally paid off (I had been listening to those same songs every other tuesday for almost 2 years). So as long as I can drive again by when my classes start on September 6th, I'm good to go.

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 10:49 PM

Thats good to know. I may go in for some cancer screaning soon. It probably wont be anything. . .I hope. I wonder what Ill listen to if I get cancer or ****. . .the patient probably

Good point. Rush are still excellent in concert. Geddy may not have the exact same voice as he used to, but it's pretty close.

Is it just because you hit a certain age and they want you to be checked for prostate cancer?

I know a guy who saw Rush in concert a couple off years ago and said the only noticable difference was that his voice didn't quite hit all the originally high notes.

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 11:00 PM
Is it just because you hit a certain age and they want you to be checked for prostate cancer?

IQUOTE] No am just 16. Thats what scares me. They wanna chek my testicles lol. not good :(

ThePatient 07-12-2005 11:02 PM

Oooooooooh, don't worry about it. They did that to me a few months ago when I had two kidney stones within a month. Unless you're actaully feeling sick or run down, you should be ok. Did you ask for the appointment, or was it just that time of the year?

Mr Herb 07-12-2005 11:07 PM

Asked for appointment.

Dude i feel pain down there every now and then. . .must be something wrong. . .

YouGottaBeCrazy 07-12-2005 11:11 PM
Yeah, that's pretty much the only difference in his voice. Some of their older songs that required a bit higher notes don't sound exact but still very good when played in concert now. I figure, Maynard seems like a smart guy, and probably does all that new age crap, so he probably takes good care of his voice, and personally, I don't think he has that big of a range, a couple octaves, and so it doesn't seem like his voice would be the type to go once he reaches his 40s, unlike for example Chris Cornell, who as you can tell by Audioslave's two albums, still has a pretty good voice, but it's nothing like the Soundgarden days. I think Maynard will have the same voice for the next 5-10 years. This is why I think they probably have 1 more album in them after the one they are hopefully releasing soon.

ThePatient 07-12-2005 11:12 PM

Oh, well you can do a check on yourself too, if that'd give you a little piece of mind before you go. Have you actually felt anything odd down there?
