I figured that to be the case, which is the only reason for it.
|
I'd like to hear this instrumental Fortress as well! esoteric_dissolution@earthlink.net
thanks |
Why dont you just ask me on msn
|
I'm not on msn :\
*gets on* |
If you don't mind, I would like a link as well Tyler.
trustinhate25@yahoo.com Thanks Tyler. I need to spread rep but I'll get you back again. |
If you were planning on seeing a Canadian date i wouldn't miss it if i were you. A couple sound balancing issues and Rody's cocky self-inflated rhetoric aside the instrumental performances have been solid across the board and the response from the crowds have been pretty insane. Silverstein, despite their own music, they have brought a fair amount of folks out to these shows and the (un)expected(¿) liveliness of PTH's new tracks has won over crowds, cheering for slick guitar leads or just sheer enthusiasm whenever volume allows. *what a blast....*
|
Rody's cockiness has nothing to do with his performance issues. In fact, it's the complete opposite. If he can't hear his voice, he doesn't trust it enough, so he tends to either shout, go from the throat or sing off key.
I'm probably going on Friday if they can get me on the guestlist. Here's hoping, because it's sold out (not that I'd pay to see Silverstein -- seen 'em twice already and haven't paid yet, and I wouldn't, because they're awful). Luke and Tim's guitar clinic should be hilarious. I was told "It'll be jokes. They just lay down farts and stuff.". |
I'd like instrumental one too please ;-;

Whoa now, i was referring to his between song banter when i was talking about his cockiness. Rody seemed quite a bit more well rounded when performing, from the shows i was at he was right on hitting most notes although he tends to do a few of the high notes lower in a harsh but not growl voice but that is not a quality issue for me; and its been the same for awhile-like when he starting doing harsher vocals when they were touring with Kezia.
No its not like some of those older grating youtube vids. I meant it was more banter and the 'cocky self-inflated rhetoric'--talking about himself, your little sister and such. And i didn't mean for it to sound like a big issue but i felt it worth mentioning since he seems to be getting notorious for it. Also a friend I brought to the show was the first thing they mentioned afterwards was how he came off as an *** during those parts. |
It really sucks that all of the other bands that are gonna be at the show I'm going to suck so bad :(
|
This is why bars exist.
|
hell yes! they're playing third so ive got plenty of time to pound back some brews
|
well i guess now i know why rody sometimes sounds abbysmal during his live shows on Utube....he been practicing screaming n growling n **** for fortress i guess
|
his lows are impressive, for him, i mean
|

lol |
his lows are impressive, for him, i mean
I think he is one of the most talented vocalists out there today, singing and screaming. |
i agree, he really suprised me with fortress, he took the ideas started on kezia and just expanded (greatly) upon them, he seemed like he was playing around with screaming on kezia and on this one he just kicked a**
cant believe how good the new record is |
i like kezia way more than fortress :( i cant seem to bring myself to like it more. i know its better and all but i love kezia :(
|
so do i, its actually kinda hard to pick a favorite so i know where you're coming from
|
so do i, its actually kinda hard to pick a favorite so i know where you're coming from
Like I said last night, I think the vocals are a lot more varied on Fortress so I like that one a lot more right now. |
lol yeah, right now i really like fortress cause its new and new material always is in the forefront of your mind, but im interested to see which one has more lasting value, i can still pop in kezia any day and rock out
|
I just got Fortress in the mail today. I'm listening now... this rules so hard.
|

That's true. We'll see what I say in a few months. |
yup, im thinking they may just be about the same, i love them both so much i cant pick a favorite
|
i like fortress. i have them both in my car but kezia still gets just as much play time as before, whereas fortress has to compete with the other bands
|
This is really, really, really, really, really overwhelming.
|
fortress vs my cd player
fortress is voctorious |
This is really, really, really, really, really overwhelming.
really? |
really. but i really don't think it's as good as people are cracking it up to be... however this is only my first listen. the keyboard solo on limb from limb wasn't really that noticeable, tbh.
|
I kinda agree with ND, at first I was like holy **** this album is awesome, but it never really got better. I haven't really found much more after the initial impact of it.
|
So far, Palms Read is probably the best song on the album... I really don't see what's so great about Bone Marrow. I'm really hoping that in a few more listens this will hit me a lot harder and it will actually live up to the hype that it's been recieving from everyone.
|
I love the first track.
|
Yeah, Bloodmeat is probably one of the better songs on the album, tbh. That might be because it's really really familiar to me though...
EDIT: God damn, there is so much going on in The Dissentience |
really. but i really don't think it's as good as people are cracking it up to be... however this is only my first listen. the keyboard solo on limb from limb wasn't really that noticeable, tbh.
I thought that keyboard solo was awesome, and a nice way to change things up. I dunno, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say Fortress is WAY better than BTBAM's Colors (BTBAM is the closest band besides say, Human Abstract that I could compare them to), for the sole fact that it never goes over the top ---it seemed like on Colors, BTBAM was just like "hey check us out playing this badass riff in 8 different genres in one song". I dunno. Fortress keeps it simple but technical at the same time. I'm still loving it after the umpteenth listen. |

i love bone marrow because it has the sound of the song also carries a lot of imagry and i can just see the scene without knowing any of the lyrics or anything, and ive always thought that was cool if a band could do that. but psalms read is also an amazing song |
Meh, I see no imagery... just a mediocre breakdown.
It's Palms Read, btw |
oops my bad, just got my words mixed up
i guess its just me |
No, most people agree that Bone Marrow is easily one of the best songs on the album. Therefore: it's just me.
|
You'll like it more and more as you listen to it, trust me. It's really overwhelming, but as you figure out what's actually happening it'll get better.
