I think it depends on which band you like more, as you'll be inclined to enjoy the show by the band whose songs you know and can sing along to. SOAD used to be really bad at their live shows, but I can tell they've improved for this tour. Same thing with The Mars Volta, who everyone hated when they were opening for RHCP, but they eventually worked it out.

The reason people don't like TMV live NOW is because they extend their songs into jam sessions. Bring a pillow if that's not your thing!

xrockerachickx 09-23-2005 05:34 PM

well some of their lyrics r kool. but 4 them to b on tour w/ soad is kinda weird, cuz they have nothing in common. like i would understand if its like NIN or KoRn or something

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-23-2005 06:16 PM

NIN would make sense, since both bands recently released albums. With that said, from what I've seen, a ton of NIN fans despise SOAD. This would kind of defeat the purpose of the two bands touring together.

To me, a SOAD/Audioslave tour would have been most probable, as both Serj and Tom Morello(of Audioslave) are key players in the Axis of Justice organization, and both bands released albums around the same time. The only problem with this is that both bands are widely mainstream, so there could be dispute as to which band would open for whom, etc... With SOAD and TMV, it's quite obvious who the headliner is.

Mambuto_O'Mally 09-23-2005 10:06 PM

^^^
Good point. My friends went to see the show here last night and said both bands were great, so about the TMV thing, I doubt thats true.

PepsiMetal 09-24-2005 01:20 AM

What about slipknot and soad tour? Haha, that would be pretty weird. But then again, both bands are pretty big and who opens for who would be pretty tough to decide. Or soad and metallica. Man, that would be a great tour. C'mon metallica, release the **** album already.

xrockerachickx 09-24-2005 01:35 PM

when is metallica gonna release an album? i miss them. now slipknot and soad, too weird. theyre totally different. but ummm yeah NIN would b great with them. and who would open? no idea! but yeah, TMV just wasnt a good idea in my opinion... i mean theyre ok, but soad touring material. like whoever goes to the concert, will b to see SOAD and not TMV

I prefer TMV :p I still like Soad but bare in mind that just because your not a big TMV fan, other people still are. There are lots of Mars Volta Fanboys (me included :D).

Oh and watch your spelling man, It's quite irratating.

Six Foot Revolver 09-25-2005 10:23 AM

I think that TMV+SOAD is better than anything you guys have mentioned.

+zero+ 09-25-2005 11:17 AM

yea mars volta and soad are a good pair.. imagine this.. Rage Against the Machine and SOAD. that would be something.. and slipknot did go on tour with soad before i thought. idk. yea im going to see the show in rosemont this friday.WOOT! anyone else going to that show?

PepsiMetal 09-25-2005 11:33 AM

If slipknot toured with soad, who opened up for who?

Huber 09-25-2005 12:54 PM

You guys probably get this all the time, but when is Hypnotize due out?

PepsiMetal 09-25-2005 01:02 PM

November I think.

Chris 09-25-2005 01:05 PM
You guys probably get this all the time, but when is Hypnotize due out?
November 22nd

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2005 01:08 PM
If slipknot toured with soad, who opened up for who?
Slipknot would probably open, as they only really acheived real mainstream success with Duality last year. SOAD is probably a lot more famous around the world, so Slipknot would probably open for SOAD.

Blizzink 09-25-2005 01:21 PM

I'm doing this here because I'll probably forget to tell you when I next see you, but you need to give me the money for the SOAD tickets as soon as you can. Also, I looked at the piece of paper my dad got emailed because of the ticket theft or misplacement, and I guess we have seating instead of ground tickets. I guess the day made a big difference, and we may have to go through gloating from Kyle. (I think it's Row H, section 116)

Anyone else here attending the Chicago date this friday?

Silentia 09-25-2005 01:26 PM
Mars Volta are apprently really awful live (well from what I've heard from show reviews of the supporting SOAD)
I've seen a LIVE DVD from the Mars Volta and they áre good live. Dámn good.

They're almost as good live, as their music is in general. D'oh. :)

Yeah, and some of those SOAD/Volta concert reviews are written by biased jerks pissed off about having to sit through something different.

Slipknot and SOAD were both on Ozzfest in '99 I think. Pretty sure that Slipknot had the bigger draw because they are angrier and know how to work the crowd with their frantic moshing on stage.

I still prefer SOAD, but the live show for Slipknot would be pretty intense.

1-D 09-25-2005 02:18 PM

System of a down is a great band..

Silentia 09-25-2005 02:19 PM

It is^^. Is saw them opening for Metallica, together with KoRn.

They had like two guys with masks and stuff just walking and jumping around the stage and over the amplifiers, just next to the audience. Sick shít. Too bad the music was pretty shítty compared to both Korn and Metallica.

Dr. Jake Destructo 09-25-2005 02:29 PM

My cousin(who could be completely full of crap and/or just plain dumb) told me that at their live shows, they throw puke and dog shit on the crowd. That would be intense, yet, obviously a bit gross. :p

PepsiMetal 09-25-2005 02:39 PM

I have a couple of slipknot live vids and haven't seen them throw **** and stuff. lol. Although corey overuses the word ****/****ing/****ers/etc. intensively.

soil332 09-25-2005 02:57 PM

soil is the best song ever with cool solo

Dried Muffin Remnants 09-25-2005 02:58 PM

Why The **** Did You Take Them Away From Us You Mother****er!!!!!!!!!

xrockerachickx 09-29-2005 12:02 PM

haha, well all i know is that i guess depending on the show, its how it will turn out. like Korn and Metallica, are both awesome bands, and they have more to offer to an audience than SOAD lyricwise and musicwise as well. but that still doesnt mean that SOAD sux cuz they dont. its just that in my opinion the audience would feel korns and metallicas song more and theyll go crazier

PepsiMetal 09-29-2005 01:00 PM

I'd definetely see soad over korn. Im not a fan of korn. But metallica on the other hand, well of course I'd see metallica more than almost any other band.

Skit 09-30-2005 09:40 AM

I got a 15 second clip of Hypnotize and you havent!

Na na, Na na, na, Na!

xrockerachickx 09-30-2005 01:38 PM

Blizzink 09-30-2005 01:40 PM

Well, I'll be at the concert in a few hours, and I may give a short review in here or something.

Kyle 09-30-2005 02:11 PM

PepsiMetal 09-30-2005 02:18 PM

15 seconds? I'd rather wait for the album to come out so i can hear the song. Screw 15 seconds.

Tele_Dude 09-30-2005 02:37 PM
If slipknot toured with soad, who opened up for who?
System and Slipknot toured in November 2001, I think, and I believe System opened.

A Hypnotize bootleg will probably come out in a couple of days, cuz they have played it at 4 shows now, and I hope at least 1 person out of 100000 brought a recorder. Its wierd, all the recent shows has been posted at sites, except the ones where they played Hypnotize...

Kyle 09-30-2005 02:59 PM

I think things have changed though.....slipknot were before Soad at donnington this year.

Irony ++

Blizzink 10-01-2005 06:46 AM

Hmm, that was a really great concert. They played so many songs, only thing I wish they had played that they didn't was Soil, but otherwise they were great. I may put up a small review soon.

Also, I want to dance like Cedric, and I want to do it now.

Skit 10-01-2005 07:56 AM

Yeah but those 15 seconds own everything on Mezmerize! :amaze:

Expresso 10-01-2005 10:35 AM

oh god... i just saw them in Chicago... there are no words... they absolutely NAILED every vocal, which they don't often do.

+zero+ 10-01-2005 11:49 AM

WE HEARD THE WHOLE SONG!! woot! it kicked soo much @ss. anyone hear of hella? they were the first band and the only thing that attracted me to their performance was the drummer.. the whole dam time he was doing a drum solo. he might have taken a 30 second break out of like a half hour. his arms must have like fell off right when he got off stage. but yea soad were great, wish i would been in the standing only area, but i still had fun. and it was the wierdest thing. in lost in hollywood i heard an unfamiliar voice and i looked, and it was shavo singing the really high part with serj! i never pictured shavo singing high vocals it kinda made me laugh haha.

Can you tell us a bit about Hypnotize? (the song)
Irony ++
 .....I was only trying to help someone out, the way he was spelling he would have got some serious flames if he posted somewhere else. Spelling mistakes most people are ok with, using text language people are not.

I saw System on the Mesmerize tour and they made a few mistakes but were still great, Im gonna go again on the Hypnotize one.
