I was looking on xanga at the xangazon search (in the weblogs you can say what cd youre listening to or what book your reading) and theres five pages of sum 41 cd's. singles, foreign cd's.... i guess they re-realeased the cd's, they had HHOP, AKNF, and DTLI dated like 2004 or 2005.... i dunno but go look at it, theyve got all sorts of cd's
|
sum 41 is a great band, and put on an awesome live show. I think deryck's lyrical writing has improved from cd to cd IMO.
I've always felt that he's written original lyrics |

I've done that already, and Xangazon just used links from Amazon, so if you want details go look there |

Wondering...is it true that Dave and the "big-nosed one" Deryck use Rio Grande BBQ pickups?
|

I have no idea, but why did you call him the "big-nosed one"? |
"Astronaut" is just a demo from what I can remember
Nope, it's actually a song from the punk compilation Punk No Die from 1998 where did you get your name? did you copy from kif? are you kif??? |
i'm pretty sure deryck does.
i would assume dave uses duncan or emg. |

|
I think chuck is there best album so far. They go places they haven't gone before.
|
dude, everyone go to google and search this exact phrase "Sum 41 Punk No Die" but DO NOT use the ""'s okay? you get my post as the very first link, it's post #1209 on this thread, it's actually on this page.
|
that doesnt work on yahoo... it found mxtabs and musicianforums but not your post
your right about google though :thumb: |
I liked "Hell song". I also loved the video for it.
|
yeah the video was funny
|
Yeah, it was funny.
I doubt we'll see another video like that from them though. I think they've turned down the more "mature" road like you could say a lot of other bands have done. |
Has anyone else seen the new video for Some Say? It's okay, not as good as We're All To Blame or Pieces, it's kinda depressing and weird, like, it takes place on some kind of board game looking thingy, I don't quite remember it was about a month ago that I saw it.
I got the official Does This Look Infected? Lighter today along with Bring The Noise, their unofficial DVD Biography. It's really cool, check it out. |
You can download Sum 41's Tribute to Queen for the song Killer Queen from sumpieces.com now. I downloaded it, it's wasn't sum 41's usual style, it's hard to hear any Sum 41 in it at all, but it's deffinitly them, they just left it as Queen style and recorded it themselves, it's friggin GOOD. Go download it now.

Bassic Bassist, how obsessed are you? Do you like any other bands?
And I think that Deryk with Avril Lavign is the begining of the end of sum 41. This has probably already been discusses but I havn't looked at this thread in a while. And a few pages back I saw people bashing Cone for not being a good bassist. Your all wrong because he fits with sum 41, knows theory, and is better then all of you. Sometimes it seems that when people critizize a muscision, they always are judging on how hard his stuff is to play. And unless Cones doin a solo you can barly hear the bass because theres 2 guitars and drums and vocals. |

Deryk probably could do well on his own knowing hes marrying a popstar, went out with Paris Hilton, and everyone in the media knows who he is.
And its easy to figure out when someone uses theory because you can look at their songs and tell, still waiting obviously has theory to it, and so do others |

Sum 41 Hooch = P.o.d. Boom

wat da fux up guys
Can anybody list all the songs that didn't come with the original albums? ex: Moron, What we're all about.
don't know if anyone has posted these tracks, but you can find Rock You (Cover of Helix)at www.foq-crew.tk Killer Queen (cover of Queen - soon to be released on the Killer Queen tribute album). I think you can find that on a board at ww.sumpieces.com there's probably hundreds more knowing Sum 41. |

The two tabs I looked at (still waiting and hell song) both use theory. And theory is a really good thing to learn because it makes you a musician, not a bass player. Bass players need to know theory, I havn't looked in bass forums since I play guitar but I'm positive they would say that theory is somthing you need to know. Also, its dumb to walk around saying that you write good stuff because someone will listen to your songs and some might say that there shiit. |

there's always someone who won't like something somone else writes, but I actually do write really cool stuff, and the bassline to Still Waiting is nothing special and the one to Hell song is all eigth notes of the same note eight times in a row except a random not every now and then, dude, seriously, he writes good stuff, but I doubt he ever learned theory |

not too much man, you haven't been in here in forever, what's the deal? |

I really think he does know theory, but if both of us cared enough we could look into it more, but we can just leave it. |
i doubt he knows theory. he may know some but not alot.
|
He will know enough.
Most bands, who can make decent songs and work together well, do. |
I just have trouble believing that he actually knows very much if any, he can't know too much, guys that know alot about theory move on to be like Victor Wooten and so forth
|
Not if they like doing what they do.

To break down the talent level in Sum 41....
Steve: Amazing, great rock drummer. Dave: Same thing but guitar Deryck: Good guitarist, but not great. Cone: Either he can play like a 12 year old who has played for 3 months or he only plays like that when he's being recorded. |
I agree with Silvermedal mafia, but Cone deserves a bit more than that ;)
