exactly :)
it's kind of an almost, maybe in a few more years it'll be there but true tube saturation is kind of impossible to "emulate" because you're overdriving hardware, the difference between digital overdrive and analog overdrive is basically blocky vs roundy lol there are other factors too like how analog processes a signal and how loud it can handle a signal compared to digital but there are shitheads about who don't believe high end audio hardware actually handles signal at +24 db. I can assure you it does i'm just too lazy to go and do all the research to prove it. I wholeheartedly agree, while i do think some analog stuff is better as analog, a lot of digital recording... basically everything about editing and almost a limitless number of first generation recordings is a metric assload better. It also makes for a lot more signal processing for a fraction of the cost, could you imagine how much it would cost daily to rent a studio with 48 "1176" compressors???
´the thing is , do i really need real tube saturation, that is an unfortunate event of valve amplification circuits that became popular because of the artists of the time. I surely would prefer a transistor amp to play foals or midwest pen pals, so a tube isnt in my needs for now. |
My electric guitars arent supposed to be overdriven, it is a shame that a large part of music world revolves around a sound made popular by a faulty circuit architecture as valve circuits are.

I don't know if "faulty" is the right term. If you keep the gain in the linear stage they do alright. They just happen to distort if you increase the gain beyond that stage. Not really a fault in the design, more like an aspect of the physics. Every type of electrical amplification device (at least that I'm aware of) does something similar when you go beyond the "safe" operational regions. |

it's widely accepted that valve amplification and tube saturation sounds appealing to the ears man, it's beyond just "artists at the time" lots of people from many eras and genres think overdrive sounds great. The term "good tone" is subjective though, what works for you is what works for you all i said was you can't emulate tube saturation |
Whether or not it's emulated to your satisfaction doesn't have any bearing on that it is emulated every day.
|
every day? fuck
... the poster clearly believes he has good tone regardless of his sketchy equipment (what is it a zoom multi fx or something??). i'm just curious what his idea of "good tone" is.
A variety of samples for you and others who are curious...these samples are my idea of a good sounding budget multi-FX modeling pedal, all direct recording sounds...and all guitar sounds listed here are from a Zoom G2.1u (some guitar sounds are combined with other modeling pedals): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OXMRuNStLrE&feature=channel_video_title http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pTPEpRsD5T0&feature=channel_video_title http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NqAVriZ2DNc&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OFKuTJ2NVqM&feature=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yBc9slT_vg&feature=channel_video_title http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9e5MMHKPIM&feature=related All recorded using the following gear: Software : - Cubase Le4 - ProTools M-powered 7.4 - Addictive Drums - Sony Soundforge Sound : - M-Audio FireWire Solo soundcard - Samson S-Amp headphones amplifier - Samson C03 microphone - Samson SR850 headphones - KRK Rokit5 monitors Processors : - Zoom G2.1U All recorded with a variety of guitars... ;) |
i don't even know where to begin with those videos

i start for vanwarp
you're wrong logical fallacy G2 modellers ;) toadies |
i don't even know where to begin with those videos
Nevermind the videos and concentrate on the sound samples... :naughty: |
i'll admit the killswitch and dimebag tones are pretty close but they use solid state in their recordings, and the low gain one at the end is proof that you NEED tube amps to really get a good clean tone, there's just nothing smooth about it :/
and the second to last one "power pop rock" looool |
yeah a lot of those were tiny, thin, and fuzzy.
|
Good lord vanwarp has sunk to new lows of idiocy. It's not even entertaining anymore.

Dude, disagreeing with him just means that we're all 'toadies' or something and logic is unnecessary.

the jimi hendrix one was pretty decent i thought
this thread is such a big ball of shit though especially with joel relentlessly condescending everybody even though he sucks ass edit: in b4 joel  spams |

this thread is such a big ball of shit though especially with joel relentlessly condescending everybody even though he sucks ass edit: in b4 joel  spams
in b4 linkin park
I had noticed this.

But that's the thing, I've heard your mixes and the tones, whilst not horrible, and seem to be getting better, they're still the same POD bullshit I hear on everything. Another curse of a mediocre monitoring environment. Quote: it's just they never have that 'space' that I hear on professionally recorded tracks, and I was just wondering if it was a case of clever EQ'g or just that real recorded amps sit better in a mix in general. EQing a guitar dramatically almost always sounds like poos. I mean the most I might do is filtering then cutting some low mids to give some room for the bass. That only usually clears any mud, then if I have to go boosting some highs I will, but if I need more highs on a guitar it means I probably need less highs on something else. So yes you can do some 'clever EQing' (it's really just common sense and thinking about the big picture) but essentially yes real amps sit better in the mix 9/10. They push air in a way that clownfucked guitars don't.
Yeah because telling your tone sucks and your mix sucks is condescending, sorry if you guys can't take the cold hard truth that your shit sounds like crap. And I've posted a link to a mix multiple times dude, still waiting on your epic troll payout?? |
hey joel why dont you post an original song youve written and recorded
seeing as you fancy yourself the premier audio engineer on the forums, what with your annoying fucking attitude about it, im sure it'll be something we can all learn from |
p.s. I never talk about song writing or composition. I don't know fuck all about that because like most of the people in this world I suck at writing a good song. And at least I accept that instead of spamming the interwebz with crappy linkin park rehashes.
But nice try. |
In b4 "stop hitting refresh bro."

still waiting for the link thats never gonna come cuz you like to talk about being good without actually being good

Try this on for size. I only recorded drums. Everything else was recorded and played by the client (1 guy) on an Mbox 2 pro. And feedback appreciated. **unmastered, soundcloud just makes it looks like I've smashed it, but it's not mastered yet at all**
:amaze: |
so that recording is the reason you get to condescend everyone
 |
Okay so lets lay it out:
1) First and foremost I really don't give one iota of care about your opinion on audio related anything. The fact that even after three mixes and trying you real bestest! you still can't hear that your shit sounds like crap is reason enough to know that you really know nothing about audio production. 2) I did not record anything in that except the drums (and that was two years ago), I only mixed it. Which sound perfectly fine as far as I care. If it was up to me I would rerecord the verse vocals and all guitars. But here in the real world you don't get that choice all the time. 3) I don't condescend anyone. That's just a word people use when they can't accept the truth. 4) It doesn't sound like Linkin Park so your comments can be ignored on your theory that you have to be good to be able to comment on anything in this world. |
Seriously? You're actually trying to use those videos to back up your opinion?
Notice how all the videos have their comments disabled. That's says enough about the content to me.
Always whining about something or other... :p I could not help but notice that you missed the stats for those videos that says more than 95% liked the content... ;) |
