Total Eclipse The Lonliness of the long distance runner Montsegur[/QUOTE] Good ones. Love them. |
new Iron Maiden topic...what band member would you like to meet, why did you pick them, and what would you ask them?
|
Harris:
Seriously, HOW can you write that well? |
Adrian. he is just so............
|
Steve Harris
I don't play bass, but he's my favorite bass player, and he's just awesome |
I'd ask Steve Harris to show me how to play a three-finger triplet with only two fingers (like "The Trooper"). How?!
|
^^^
hell, only takes a little practice, i can do it without thinking about it...but ive been playing for 7 years. if you use three fingers its easier to get your fingers jumbled up. Id ask Adrian how him and Janick get along and what solo's are his favourites of his, davey's, and janicks. |

gotta start somewhere, id say any of their songs are good practice, "caught somewhere in time" is a great practice because it has slower and faster triplets. i have the same type of bass (fender p) and pickups as steve, so that helps too hehe.

Its not hard at all to play with two fingers.. i have played for about as long as you,and do it fine, but every teacher i have had says im very talented (had nothing with topic to do :p) any way, i would like to meet Steve Harris (obvious).. Steve Harris is my biggest idol, and i strive to become as good as him. and im not sure what i would ask him... |
I'd meet murray! He is just so, WOW!
Hell...i'd meet any of them. I want to meet them all! But I wouldn't mind getting guitar lessons from Davey ;) |
I would like to meet Janick and I dont have a clue of what i would have asked him but I would hopefully get out some words!!!
|
I'd like to meet Nicko purely because he seems to be a completely insane kinda bloke with the same humour level as me...and that might happen because my dad's friend knows him :thumb:
If not a meeting then maybe some signed stuff :) |
Steve Harris: "So, now you get to find your first band and say, 'Hate to say I told you so, but I told you so.' " Then he'd run away laughing like a maniac and finish the DVD he's working on.

I've been a Maiden fan since kindergarten (Literally). Recently I've been hearing people and columnists say that English Black/Goth Metal band, Cradle Of Filth, is the new generations answer to Iron Maiden, mainly because their British, have a unique singer, deal with somewhat Satanic themes, and have covered "Hallowed Be Thy Name" and "Fear Of The Dark". Now I think CoF is a great band, but saying something like that is a bit much. Has anyone else heard this, what do you think?
|
CoF cant compare to Iron Maiden
|
^^^^
COF are diehard Maiden fans, but dont play anyting like Iron Maiden. Though some of their harmonizations im sure came from being avid Iron Maiden fans. COF's cover of "hallowed be thy name" is incredible, a good black metal twist on an old classic without losing the key sound of the song. and COF dont sing about satanism in the least bit, Dani is more into depressing gothic love stories...though his ways of writing lyrics hardley show unless you pay attention to them.... but most importantly, Iron Maiden are a more tight knit band and i like them better in all aspcts :) , but i still love Cradle. |
its all about flight of icarus and hallowed be thy name for me.
|
Dave or Adrian or Janick.Id have to say Adrian, hes more melodic, dave just rips the fretboard up with hammer ons and stuff, not that theres anything wrong with that.

ive been playin bass 1 year an i can do tiplets wiv only 2 fingers in my sleep !maiden rule! |
In your opinion what would you guys say was the best iron maiden era from the paul to bruce to blaze to bruce again??? thanks
-IRON MAIDEN LIVE ON! |
why do u people call the gallop rhythm triplets? triplets are 3 notes of even value that add together to make 1 beat. shakes head.. i would say... the bruce eras. both of them.
Mick |
^^I was a little surprised given that we use triplets in drumming too. Silly guitarists/bassists :D
Yeah, I'm not sure I'll even buy the non-Bruce albums, I head Blaze performing Fear of the Dark live. It physicaly hurt. It always makes me smile when Jakobee's avatar fallis in time with what I'm listening too :) |
You cant beat the Bruce era. But the Di'anno and Blaze eras were totally awesome as well.
|
I'm not too familiar with them. Where they any different musicaly?
|
The first Bruce era, of course.
YAHHHHHHH YAHHHHH YAH! HALLOWED BE THY NAMEE! |
I love the Diannio era and the Blaze era, but nothing beats the first Bruce Era! ah! Piece of mind, Powerslave, somewhere in time, seventh son of a seventh son... Who can beat thoose?! (and yes, The Number of the beast is NOT one of my favorite albums...)
|
