Pastorius 01-23-2008 01:45 PM

Oh man, just listened to it then, what an album, seriously amazing.

It's like a mix of Kezia, old Dream Theater, and Sikth, and by god it works.

Josh D. 01-23-2008 02:09 PM

Dream Theater?

Ew.

Tyler 01-23-2008 02:11 PM

I dont see the Dream Theatre at all thankfully.

Kage 01-23-2008 02:27 PM

Some people are more acute in their observance than others, I'm afraid.

I think he means with the epic melodiez

Shattered_Future 01-23-2008 02:58 PM

So apparently it's on Kerrazy Torrents. Can anybody confirm/deny if it's the real deal?

Crimson 01-23-2008 03:00 PM

Google > Protest the Hero Fortress Download

There's at least four working links on the first page there, very likely more but I haven't checked.

Tyler 01-23-2008 03:05 PM

Yes Shattered a real leak is out now. It came out in Japan on the 22nd and retailers got their copies on Monday.

I haven't heard this leak but I know people who've heard it as well as the copy I sent them (:() and can confirm there is a real legit one out

Anglachel 01-23-2008 03:07 PM

i blogsearched it

lol@Atari 2600 noises

You sent it to people , but not me? :(
You also promised me Kayo Dot >:-(

Shattered_Future 01-23-2008 03:08 PM

Ok, from the first minute, I can tell this:

The vocals are better
Something is clicking like a mofo...bass drum, maybe?
Insanity reigns

Still not a complete fan of the vocals, but they're markedly improved.

Tyler 01-23-2008 03:09 PM

I dont know where you're hearing clicking. Keep listening, you'll learn to love the vocals. Not sure why you wouldn't like them though seeing as how you listen to Power Metal and they're not far off when he's in his higher register.

Shattered_Future 01-23-2008 03:11 PM

Ok, the clicking is gone.

It's not so much the vocals as the tone. There's still that hint of whiny pop-punk style, but it's thankfully much less than Kezia.

I can say this much. It's a ton better than Kezia. I may actually be a convert.

Tyler 01-23-2008 03:12 PM

Not whiny, but I do sort of see what you're getting at, I just dont necessarily agree. Plus he growls and screams really well on this album, and he does explore different clean styles and registers.

What song are you on?

Shattered_Future 01-23-2008 03:13 PM

The Dissentience. Bloodmeat was actually really cool, and I'm liking the guitar work on this one.

Tyler 01-23-2008 03:14 PM

It gets better. Bone Marrow is the best, along with Palms Read and Wretch. Sequoia Throne is iffy.

Crimson 01-23-2008 03:18 PM

I didn't like Sequoia Throne at first but it's grown on me a bit, Bone Marrow is by far the best though, easily better than anything they have done before in my eyes.

Shattered_Future 01-23-2008 03:22 PM

Lmao, who does the keyboards and piano on this album? It's arpeggio run-tastic.

Sequoia Throne is actually really cool...bit over the top and somewhat Dragonforce-sounding solo parts, but it's cool.

Tyler 01-23-2008 03:23 PM

The Piano is Luke, not sure about the synths. Dragonforce's keyboardist has a really bad solo on Limb from Limb though. The synths disappear after Bone Marrow though.

Tyr 01-23-2008 03:38 PM

I think that solo by Vadim could have been better, but it's not terrible, despite the horrid blippy sound.

No they don't.

Limb From Limb has some epic synth work in the background.

I believe it's that track.
I haven't heard this leak but I know people who've heard it as well as the copy I sent them (:() and can confirm there is a real legit one out
I only did because I needed gapless. :(

Tyler 01-23-2008 03:40 PM

The tone is terrible but the solo isn't.

You know what I mean though.

TheSceneNinja 01-23-2008 05:00 PM

Wretch > all

and I wish that Vadim hadn't come in for the first bit of his solo, right when Rody was going "SHE IS THE SUNNNNNNNNNNNNN"

if he'd just come in later, right after that,

i would love the solo so much more.

Shattered_Future 01-23-2008 05:02 PM

So, Fortress is very good. Probably not something I can listen to daily, but kudos to PTH for creating something original.

AA-12 01-23-2008 05:10 PM

should I dl this or wait to buy it? I can't decide.

Tyler 01-23-2008 05:11 PM

Download it, you'll buy it anyways.

Tyler 01-23-2008 06:01 PM

They were good on MTV Live. Played Goddess Bound. Was awkward during the "live to **** and **** till death" part though. Should be online later tonight. They also played the Dissentience but it got cut off.

Kage 01-23-2008 06:28 PM

lol, they're playing on MTV?

NemesisDivina 01-23-2008 06:29 PM

They're really big in Canada... it's only Canadian MTV.

Kage 01-23-2008 06:29 PM

Oh, I see.

Tyler 01-23-2008 06:30 PM

MTV Canada, yeah. They're always on MTV Live and Much On Demand. Mars Volta was on last night.
