Derek has a really low voice, you can hear it on Mercy Me quite clearly.

And I love I Was A Prayer, especially the lines 'There's a song I love so much I stole every precious note I took I sold now I spit out words, do you see my lungs on the dancefloor?'

Kind of sums up the way I feel about the Trio's lyrics.

That's exactly how I feel, and I agree that that song is catchy as hell and one of the best on Crimson in my opinion.

poprocks&coke 08-14-2005 05:06 PM

As well as Mercy Me, I bloody love that song :D

HitHardDrums55 08-14-2005 06:18 PM

i used to not really like mercy me that much but i listened to it a few more times and i really love it now...i dont care what anybody who thinks crimson sucks says...i love it!

i played the whole album on drums the day i got home from the beach and its a lot harder than it sounds...especially to keep up with everything and get the fills right...

who here agrees with me that matt being the drummer for that band he was in before he started alk3 (jerkwater i think it was called) is one of the reasons why they have never had a bad drummer?

poprocks&coke 08-14-2005 06:24 PM

...cause he knows how to pick 'em?

HitHardDrums55 08-14-2005 07:20 PM

cause a drummer can pick out a truly amazing drummer way better than a guitarist who doesnt play drums...like a guitarist or bassist who doesnt really play drums or own a drumset or whatever would pick someone who could play crazy fast or cool sounding beats, but a drummer could pick a drummer who can play fast, smooth, complex (while still sounding simple unless you really focus on the drum parts alone OR just plain complex as sh!t), yet knows when to keep it simple and has technique...if any of that makes any sense....i just think that the fact that matt used to play drums and did the drums for his solo stuff plays a role in the trio never having a half decent drummer always amazing

poprocks&coke 08-14-2005 07:31 PM

Yeah, I know what you mean... all of the Trio's drummers have been **** good...

HitHardDrums55 08-14-2005 08:55 PM

damn right!

but they wouldnt be so kickass without the talent of matt and dan

Swimblondiechick 08-14-2005 09:08 PM

I love these guys they are amazing live i dont like their new cd as much as god dammit and stuff though!

At the beginning of the break in Donner Party on Good Mourning, you hear Derek breathe into the mic...

/random fact

HitHardDrums55 08-15-2005 07:34 AM

im gonna listen for that

edit: i cant hear it...oh well

Oz Rembrandt 08-15-2005 07:40 AM

Anyone think that We Can't Never Break Up and Don't Say You Won't (TTW b-sides) are absolutley incredible? Don't Say You Won't sounds so much like a Cure song...

mook 08-15-2005 07:44 AM

I haven't heard Don't Say You Won't, any chance you could uplaod it please?

Oz Rembrandt 08-15-2005 07:51 AM

I can have a go. yousendit likes to be gay with me. I'll be a few minutes...

That SHOULD work, but it might not.

HitHardDrums55 08-15-2005 08:09 AM

i just heard it for the first time and it is amazing! really does sound like a cure song and i love the cure...We Can Never Break Up is pretty good but Don't Say You Won't is better in my opinion...i like how you can really hear derek sing on it

on the songs list on the video on the cd...it says "Pewk", "Derek", and "Buried" what are those?

mook 08-15-2005 08:10 AM

Cheers :thumb:
It works

HitHardDrums55 08-15-2005 03:36 PM

other than Don't Say You Won't and We Can Never Break Up what are some b-sides the trio have?

poprocks&coke 08-15-2005 04:35 PM

Jaked on Green Beers, and they did a cover of the Misfit's Halloween.

You know what, I think I'm liking God****it more than FHTI (my favourite)

SHOCK HORROR!

Thanks for the song Oz my luvlie.

HitHardDrums55 08-15-2005 05:00 PM

i have jaked on green beers and halloween...they also did a cover of children in heat on the vinyl they did halloween on...the Children in Heat cover doesnt sound like the trio at all though but its full band not piano...i also have a full band version of blue in the face...but i want some older b-sides like from FHTI and earlier...and if theres any from Good Mourning...i think old school reasons was on that? i have that one..

poprocks&coke 08-15-2005 05:32 PM

Old School Reasons and Dead End Road were on Good Mourning.

Untitled 08-15-2005 05:38 PM

Good Mourning is the only Alk3 album i dont have i think, im loving them atm.

poprocks&coke 08-15-2005 05:55 PM

Good Mourning is pretty good, but I'd probably place it as my 4th favourite at the moment.

Untitled 08-15-2005 06:01 PM

Actully, i lied i dont have crimson, i always forget about that, i have self titled, maybe ill catch fire, and from here to imfermery. FHTI is by far my favortie. Ive not had the others long though, ive had that for ages.

poprocks&coke 08-15-2005 06:19 PM

The thing is, FHTI was always my favourite, and now that I've listened to God****it non-stop for weeks, thats starting to take it's place. I like practically every song on God****it, whereas I don't like them all on FHTI, and a few of them I've worn out...

HitHardDrums55 08-15-2005 08:28 PM

you also don't have Goddamnit...i recommend getting all 3 albums if you like s/t you will like gd, good mourning and crimson sound more like FHTI than MICF, s/t, and GD...but dont get me wrong theyre not really the same at all either i already am getting excited for a NEW cd to come out even though i still love all their cds!

has anybody heard the trio's cover of Heaven by the Psychedelic Furs? surprisingly enough, it kinda sucks IMO
other than Don't Say You Won't and We Can Never Break Up what are some b-sides the trio have?
The Metro (Berlin Cover)
Over at Frankensteins Place
Hallowe'en (Misfits Cover)
Jaked On Green Beers
Warbrain

Those are the ones on my computer, they're not all b-sides, but they're all from compilations and shiznah.
