I think both guitarists switch off. And in the booklets it says that they play guitars. There is no thing that says whether they play lead or rhythm. Jim does do all of the crazy solos on the new album though.

relliK 12-17-2004 07:57 PM

Well, on Vol.3, Jim is on the left channel and Mick is on the right. They pretty much divide it up equally.

TheSubtleArts 12-17-2004 09:09 PM

Opium of the People is a perfect example of how they switch off play lead parts. most of the new album is like that.

Heavy0metal0freak 12-19-2004 12:46 PM

I've listened to the self titled already ( i kno finally) and i must say i have some respect for them now. My girlfriend is one of those obssesed fans

Slipknot is an amazing band. They have the best drummer I think I have ever heard. With their constant double bass kicks that blow out the eyes. Corey is great lyricist (even though his screams aren't the greatest). I think their music is so popular because the lyrics relate to what we have floating around in our minds.

To respond to what you said about Joey: Listen to Nick Barker, he is a much better drummer. I would reccomend buying the new Dimmu Borgir CD to show his true talent.
To respond to what you said about Corey: His lyrics are mediocre. Listen to Iowa (just read the lyrics to the song "Disasterpiece") and you will see what I mean. Some of his works just arent that great.

Stop bagging corey **** it. He's amazing and can do almost anything but rap. (Which we don't want anyway)

Vermilion, Pt. 2 his singing at best.

People = **** his yelling screaming thingy at best.

And good on you picking a poor song off iowa to bag him. Cunt.

Thor 12-22-2004 08:57 PM

All i said was that his lyrics are mediocre. I didnt mean to seem that harsh, and you seemed to make such a big deal out of it. I didnt say anything about his vocal skills, and believe me, he is quite a good vocalist. You took one thing I said and made into a much bigger thing. Chill out, dude.

TheSubtleArts 12-22-2004 10:29 PM

they dont have the best drummer but joey deffinetly is one of the best in metal,, and i dont really care if corys screams and vocals are considered all that great, i think his voice is perfect for the band and his screams sound great to me.

Leatherface69 12-23-2004 07:42 AM

Yeah, well Mick Thompson has a kick a-ss guitar style. I play guitar for like 2 years now, and its just fun to play people = sh-it or, the heretic anthem. And I personally think that corey taylor lost his fvcking skills on shouting, cause his screams just sound empty on VOL3. But just look at the sick solos they throw at you, specially the VERMILLION one..I'm pretty sure Mick and Jim can do a lot better, but the guitar work they suits Slipknot very well...stay [sic] you fvcking maggots !

TheSubtleArts 12-23-2004 01:26 PM

yea i think corys screams arnt as good as they used to be but the guitar solos and better drum parts make up for it.

The JoZ 12-23-2004 01:29 PM

Well, he's gotten Chris and Shawn to help out a little more here and there too with screaming, so it all works out anyway.

shortass 12-23-2004 01:31 PM
yea i think corys screams arnt as good as they used to be but the guitar solos and better drum parts make up for it.
I agree with you there he has also improved his singing when not screaming too

ibanezboy69 12-23-2004 02:22 PM

i really thought corey was good on vol 3, espcially the way they
overdub him singin when hes screamin

Shadows 12-23-2004 02:27 PM

He was pretty good on Vol.3 I thought. It was good to see him do something different and try singing quite a bit. His voice seems to change with every album anyway so he offers quite a bit of variety.

Thor 12-23-2004 02:36 PM

I heard that during recording his voice just completely changed and they had to keep recording from there. Thats why his screams sound so different from the other two albums.

Shadows 12-23-2004 03:09 PM

But its strange...on their s/t his voice was kind of high pitched, then on Iowa it got deep, and now its higher pitched again. I think I like his Stone Sour voice best of all though.

Thor 12-23-2004 03:54 PM

Oh no way, Stone sour wasnt the best. The best had to be the s/t Corey Taylor.

Sleeper 12-23-2004 04:14 PM

When is the re-release of MFKR?

Thor 12-23-2004 05:24 PM

Are they going to re-release it? If so, that would be pretty cool. Its an incredible album, and any Slipknot fan should go and grab it ASAP.

The JoZ 12-23-2004 05:26 PM
Oh no way, Stone sour wasnt the best. The best had to be the s/t Corey Taylor.
He said that he liked Stone Sour Corey the best, not that it was the best...

Doth Yield Himself Unto Death 12-23-2004 05:35 PM

Yes, that's when I think Corey's voice was at its peak.
When is the re-release of MFKR?
Is there going to be a re-release? If so then I am most definitely excited.

TheSubtleArts 12-23-2004 08:37 PM

i like his singing in vol.3. it would be sweet if his screams were still like the ones on s/t tho.

TheSubtleArts 12-23-2004 08:39 PM

^^that would be cool if they are re-releasing mfkr. ive downloaded all the songs off the album, but i would still go buy a copy if the released it.
