My friend is obsessed with Beirut, and he's upset that I don't like them.
|
I <3 Beirut
|
I <3 lightning bolt
|
Music is my boyfriend <3
|
Beirut is/are crap.
|
I just went to Crooked Beat Records, and its the best CD store I've ever been to. They didn't have the greatest prices, but I guess $11 a CD isn't too bad. But they had pretty much every CD I could want, although I couldn't find Sister by Sonic Youth :( I ended up getting Ghosts of the Great Highway by Sun Kil Moon, American Water by Silver Jews, It Was Hot We Stayed in the Water by The Microphones, Alien Lanes by Guided by Voices, and Transmissions from the Satellite Heart by Flaming Lips.

I dont like Beriut at all. I was about to buy Thurston Moore's - Psychic Hearts the other day but decided not to.
|
i told ya Crooked Beat was awesome. they have great T-shirt selections too and apparently Ian MacKaye frequents it

It's a good album. |

His new album is much better imho. It's good to see I'm not the only one who doesn't like Beirut |

Yeah, I didn't have enough money for a shirt but there were some cool ones. They had almost every other SY album but Sister, and I didn't know what any of their other good albums were (I already have Daydream Nation). So I'll probably just download it or get it off ebay. |
they had Sister when i went there last but i didnt get it :(
|
From what I've heard it's a really great album.
Oh yeah I forgot to ask you guys, is there any kind of program that I can use for a Mac that is similar to Exact Audio Copy? EAC is only for Windows apparently, and I don't want to resort to using iTunes crappy ripper which is what I've been using for all these years blindly. |
I almost bought a Devo shirt from Crooked Beat.

Nevermind, I changed the preferences on importing. I don't know if Apple Lossless is worth it because the files are so damn big, but the bitrates are ridiculously high (one song is 719 kb/s). I'll try .wav, or maybe I'll just use the Higher Quality (256 kb/s) importing compression and just make them mp3 or AAC.
|
You guys see Beirut live and it'd change your mind I swear, the brass is so amazing.
Saw Youthmovies tonight...what a band :D amazing. |

And you're right, it was much much better than I imagined it being. It's not my thing musically, but I loved it live. tonight i saw...Sunburnd Hand of the Man. Au contraire, I like their records but they're rather lame live. I wasn't in the mood. |
I imagine all they would be doing is messing around with knobs.
|
I imagine all they would be doing is smashing various percussion randomly and shouting in high pitches.

My night:
Sorta awkward, somewhat fun, more awkward, very awkward, me being an asshole, good times, back at the dorms on MX. |
why were you an asshole?
also are you in that phase where youre still sort of excited about college and the party scene but at the same time youre realizing its lame |
I've always realized it's lame.
I was an asshole because I was on a "date" with this guy who was taking it more seriously than anticipated and was just beyond awkward. And usually I can deal with that, but it just became too much. I ditched him, went to a party, had a good laugh at all the drunk people. Called him and appologized. |
hah awww poor guy
hheee liiiikkezzz zyyouuuuu i saw american gangster with some friends. that was a really cool movie |

I drove around with my friend, snuck in the old high school at night and walked around. Watched a 45 year old professor get the chicks we were going to make a go for (no lie, he got their numbers then they left), drove around some more, got pancakes from IHOP and made friends with one of the graveyard shift waiters, threw around some old pipes we found laying around in the parking lot to find out later that they were coated in fiberglass, won a debate on global warming, secured a good alcohol hook-up, infiltrated some lame party that some 50 year old men were having, and smoked a whole pack of lucky strikes in the process. Better than any party assuredly.

My night:
Sat on computer. My morning: Sat on computer. |
I had a beer with a friend, then suddenly we had had ten and I made 40 cigs dissapear. Today I feel awful.
|
That video with Justin Timberlake and 50 Cent is on MTV now. I've never heard the track, and the video is very funny without sound. It's just 50 Cent saying something and looking mean, while Justin Timberlake stands right behind him making small bunny hops and doing some feminine moves with his hands. Stupid.
|
lol
|
I cleaned my whole apartment and made it look badass.
Then my buddy came over and we smoked, drank some beer and watched a Kung Fu movie. One of my favorites actually: "The Crippled Masters is a kung fu movie released in 1979. Filmed in Hong Kong, it is about two men—one without arms and another with withered legs—who develop kung fu abilities and fight their evil teacher, who made them disabled." Oh, and I cooked some chicken that was so ****ing goood. |
All I did this morning was hook some headphones to my computer and listen to my itunes music library and ate pancakes. It was righteous.
|
All I did this music was sleep.
|
All i did this music was night
|
All night did was sheep
|
I dislocated my shoulder in a breakdance fight Friday:(
|
That's what you get for trying to be black.
|
i wish i could breakdance
theres a group here but i forgot the phone number and that seems to be the only way to contact them |
I used to take lessons. It was pretty awesome.
|
Sunburned hand of the man just did a wall of boring noise when I saw them live.
