Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:41 PM

Because as a black man I am embarrassed by Denzel Washington.

i am the robots 05-27-2005 08:42 PM
Why don't we start talking about better actors now?
How about that guy who acts?

Kage 05-27-2005 08:43 PM

I'd be more embarassed by Samuel L, personally. =

Thor 05-27-2005 08:43 PM

Well being a white man I am embarassed by Vanilla Ice, but I'm not complaining about him, now am I?

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:44 PM

Which is why I'm glad you're not black, Kage.

It's not like Samuel L. was the centerpiece of one of the best and most defining movies of the past 50 years or anything.

Okay, one good movie. Denzel has had several.

Thor 05-27-2005 08:48 PM
Edward Norton.
That's a start. The first good actor to come to mind for me was R. Lee Ermey, my personal favorite actor of all time.

"What's your name, scumbag?!" :thumb:

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:49 PM

Two.

Malcolm X
Training Day

And neither is as good as Pulp Fiction

haha...R Lee Ermey is the man

I'M GONNA GOUGE YOUR EYES OUT AND SKULLFUCK YOU

This is true, but Samuel L. Jackson wasn't the reason that Pulp Fiction was better than both of those. There were plenty of other reasons.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:52 PM

Next you're going to tell me you're some big Tarantino fan.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:53 PM

Oh lawd.

So tell me, Kage, what movies do YOU like.

Thor 05-27-2005 08:54 PM

**** straight he is. He definetly has the best movie quotes of all time. There are too many for me to list right now, but all of you should know them. If you don't, you really need to see that movie. That is definetly Kubrick's best film, IMO.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:57 PM
Oh lawd.

Mulholland Drive is my favorite, Lost Highway, Eraserhead. Anything by Tim Burton; From Hell, Manchurian Candidate, Sin City...

Rosmary's Baby, The Day The Earth Stood still

Thor 05-27-2005 08:58 PM

I heard that From Hell is pretty disturbing. Would you care to tell me some disgusting parts in that movie?

My favorite movies:
Evil Dead
Evil Dead 2
Army of Darkness
Braveheart
Aladdin (**** straight!)
Snatch
Full Metal Jacket

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:58 PM

David Lynch, eh?

So you like pointlessly convoluted movies?

My top ten is ITT somewhere, I'll run a search.

The Godfather, Pulp Fiction, Do The Right Thing, The Shawshank Redemption, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, The Big Lebowski, Fight Club, Jackie Brown, Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, and Hoop Dreams would be my top ten in no particular order. With honorable mentions to GoodFellas, Apocalypse Now, He Got Game, Trainspotting, Fargo, and Spinal Tap.

YDload 05-27-2005 09:02 PM

Let's all stop talking about black male actors who MIGHT be competent, and focus on the undisputed good ones like Morgan Freeman.

Good work throwing out that Shawshank mention Illmatic, it's a good 'un!

Yes, Lynch happens to be my favorite film maker. I look for more in movies than good plots and action; I relish in the cinemtography, symbolism, etc. Lynch is a mastermind at creating atmospheres and different, bizarre, surrealistic worlds. I don't think a Tarantino fan would understand.

Thor 05-27-2005 09:04 PM

I still haven't seen Shawshank Redemption. Should I rush out to the video store and get it ASAP? Most people say that it changed their life or something along the lines of that.

So in other words, you like the most mind-boggingly pretentious horseshit imaginable?

The Shawshank Redemption is an amazing movie. The only people who think otherwise are elitist David Lynch fans.

You like the most over-bloated, highschool amateur horseshit imaginable?

Who are you to make fun of my taste in movies?

Uhm...I didn't say that. You misquoted me. That was Metal Head.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 09:10 PM
You like over-bloated, highschool amateur horse**** imaginable?
I don't like it nearly as much as I used to, but yes, I enjoy some Quentin Tarantino from time to time.

I'm just a simple man.

Unlike you. You are a David Lynch fan, and we all know that people who like David Lynch movies are geniuses and the rest of us are just backwoods cretins, cultureless morons who are unable to see the brilliance of David Lynch and thus will live a life of misery because of it.

There, I said what every David Lynch fan wants to hear.

thanks for the suggestion.

Bass! How low can you go? Death row? :thumb:

Thank you. Your stereotypes are just mindbogglingly accurate.

The knee-jerk response to this, of course, is "Welcome to my world"
Bass! How low can you go? Death row?
What a brotha knows, once again the incredible rhyme animal, the incredible (D!) Public Enemy number one

Kage 05-27-2005 09:17 PM

You could try to respect other peoples' opinions. Did you even see the rest of my list?
What are you talking about?
Beats me.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 09:18 PM

I didn't feel strongly enough about anything else on there to comment on. David Lynch is just one of those people who drive me insane beyond my control.
What are you talking about?
Yeah, what would I know about being stereotyped.

Kage 05-27-2005 09:20 PM

Tarantino does the same for me, becaues there are so many ignorant high school boys who drool over his shit because there's so much blood, and don't know a dam thing about filmmaking.
