Why do they close out threads for no reason. Let me know because I am tired of getting closed out of threads
There usually is a reason for a thread being closed.

1. It breaks the rules of the forum,
2. There was a thread created before the inception of the newer (-est?) thread,
3. The thread does little, if at all, to promote discussion.

We don't close threads for no reason.

Link to the thread(s) you're unhappy with, and I (or another mod) will explain why it was closed.

I'd say that the threads are illegal 99% of the time. Sometimes the threadstarter wants it closed, and there are other reasons, but I'd say if you read the rules you'll resolve most of your thread-closing frustrations.

I dont know how to make the links but i can tell you ther names and that is talk about what ever you want. and that was in the pit section.

What happens in the pit isnt any of R&M's business.

3074326 10-31-2005 01:24 PM

Yeah, you'd want to talk to a Pit mod about that.

I can assure you that the threads that were closed were against the rules. None of the current mods close threads for no reason. I would imagine the threads closed in the Pit were due to spam.

Just for your information - copy and paste the link in your browser window and post that to make a link. :p

I know this is a small thing, but the forum time is 2hours wrong now. We put the clocks back Sunday, but the forum time went forward an hour, not back, so now it's 2 hrs out.

Mazeppa 10-31-2005 02:58 PM

Adjust the time in your profile, it's accurate for me.

This post is pretty worthless. I mean there is some fairly decent discussion going on there (I can't say I'm a fan, but I still read the thread :p), and that guy is just like postcount++ I would say temporary ban, but then again, I'm in a tightass mood today :D

Stoic 10-31-2005 03:31 PM

uhh...the search feature seems not to work properly (doesnt show results for threads Im sure they existed not too along ago). Does it have something to do with the recent upgrade?

The Flabbit Rides High 10-31-2005 04:21 PM
In mx's most recent announcement, he says "As far as I know, the search is not yet enabled. That will have to wait." I'm pretty sure he hasn't re-enabled it yet, although I'm not sure. If it's noticeably not working, then that's probably why, although it's always been a bit unreliable for me, to say the least.
Unreliable?! It never ever brings me what I want!

I say they destroy it, or build a new one because its just plain crap through and through. Ive been using it since 2002, and it never worked.

Riva 10-31-2005 04:25 PM

It used to work quite well. I believe the problem is with indexing, which means that a new one will take just as much work as the old one.

.:Thrasher:. 11-01-2005 12:21 AM

hey guys im new to this
can some1 please tell me what a thread is????
its hard to explain (for me anyway) a thread is what you just wrote in now.
its a link to a subject that you discus (sorry if i diddent explain probly)

Riva 11-01-2005 04:57 AM

That's a good definition, Thrasher. A thread is an individual topic that you see from the main page of the forum.

And Thrasher, images have been disabled for the forum, but if you are talking about an avatar, like my Bloodmage, then you need to ensure it is in either .jpg, .gif, or .bmp.

how do u get rep points???

dUSK 11-01-2005 05:33 AM
how do u get rep points???
You earn rep by making constructive/useful/informative posts. Rep can only be given my mods or users with start underneath their name (see HeavyRiva for example). My advice is to not whore for rep, but to just be a generally good poster, and if you deserve it, it will come.

EDIT: I just had a bit of trouble finding the Doom metal thread, so it could be an idea to add it to the list of major threads in the rules. The link is below.

my bad i dident think anyone responded to that.

EDIT: bookmark?

superpeer 11-01-2005 05:31 PM

He means put it in your favourites/bookmarks, so you don't have to go search it every time. Hell, make it your home page.

Mazeppa 11-01-2005 05:36 PM

Or even better, just go to thread tools > subscribe to this thread. Then it's in your user cp thing.

Toaster 11-01-2005 05:47 PM

I'm making an entry with another user for the thrash competition.. we don't have the same instant messenger programs, so I'm wondering where we should talk about the song and stuff. I don't want to spam up the threads here too much, but I don't know how else to do it.

Riva 11-01-2005 05:52 PM

E-mail, download the same IM program, or maybe just use the Metal comp thread.

Scroll down to the bottom, he had to have intentionally done that, the board will prevent you from posting that many times.

GenuineImitation 11-01-2005 07:04 PM

Not a necessary thread considering Med did a excellent article on prog rock.
