Piece of Mind > Fear of the Dark

Fear of the Dark's recording doesn't sound good (maybe because I don't have the remastered version).

smart blockhead 10-10-2005 05:29 PM

I just bought Iron Maiden, Killers, Powerslave, Somewhere In Time, and The Early Years DVD. I haven't listened to Somewhere In Time yet, but the other three are great. I like Paul's vocal's more than Bruce's, I think I'm probably the only person here that thinks that though. I would put the albums in this order from best to worst: Killers, Iron Maiden, Powerslave. Next, I'm going to get Live After Death, Piece of Mind, Seventh Son, and Brave New World. I already had Number of the Beast. Does any one know when the next DVD in the history of Iron Maiden series is coming out or how many volumes there will be?

vashts80 10-10-2005 11:51 PM

Next DVD in the history of is Death on the Road, which is the end of the series I believe. Bruce is good now, and his studio stuff back in the 80s was good, but live he was pretty bad in the 80s (especially on Live After Death), not being able to hit the notes right and whatnot.

I still think Blaze was a great vocalist. Everybody says how bad VXI and X-Factor were, but VXI put me to sleep. And that's a good thing. I can't fall asleep if I"m listening to a bad album. Not to mention the material on there is great.

actaully the x factor is usually taked about how good it is .....atleast on this thread. I just bought it my self and i cant stop listenin to it.

sorry, but death on the road wont be the last one. In some interviews bruce talked about the next installment of history dvds, aswell as what the next history tour is going to be based on ( powerslave, somewhere in time, and live after death) so if there is going to be a tour, there will be a dvd.
I would put the albums in this order from best to worst: Killers, Iron Maiden, Powerslave
hah you cant list those albums from best to worst, because they are all mother fuckin great albums

BensJamin 10-11-2005 04:00 AM

whos a faster guitarist dave murray or adrian smith?

-The Frank 10-11-2005 04:46 AM

murray, but both are great guitarists

Lord Abortion 10-11-2005 05:12 AM

Bruce>(just about) Blaze>Paul

I am the guy normally saying that anyone who doesn't like the X-Factor is a raging homosexual.

-The Frank 10-11-2005 05:17 AM

i love the x factor, cant get enough of 2am and the unbeliever

tis good stuff :thumb:

Scotti_Dawg 10-11-2005 05:54 AM

I have all the maiden albums, IMO, i think they are all as good as each other, but my personal fave is Somewhere in Time or Dance of Death, im gettin the early days soon (i hope), but i think maiden are playin better than ever, I also play bass guitar and Steve harris is like my biggest idol, and if there was 1 song i wish i cud play it wud be Only The Good Die Young (Seventh son) becuase it has a bass solo and they are VERY hard 2 do :thumb: :thumb: :thumb:

the_uber_penguin 10-11-2005 06:25 AM

Seventh Son is one of the best albums ever made IMO. The soul of the band is there, and it is all unmistakably Iron Maiden, but with enough diversity so that they don't fall into the "samey" trap. The songwriting is vivid and clear, the guitars kick butt, Bruce has never sounded better, and the drumming...MWAH!

Only downside to it is the way Linkin Park took their entire sound from the Moonchild intro, and Papa Roach took their entire sound from the Infinite Dreams interlude.

-The Frank 10-11-2005 06:55 AM

iron maiden hit their musical zenith at powerslave. powerslave and Everything leading up to powerslave was probably some of the best stuff maiden has ever made.

but dont get me wrong every album after powerslave were amazing to. but imo the first five albums didnt have a skip track.

but i still love everything after powerslave to

please dont hate me

:(:(:(

Davey > H

Anyone disagree?

-The Frank 10-11-2005 06:58 AM
Davey > H

davey was a better guitarist but H was a better writer

Deth 10-11-2005 07:00 AM

I would agree with that statement, but H needs Brucey to help him write great songs.

-The Frank 10-11-2005 07:03 AM
I would agree with that statement, but H needs Brucey to help him write great songs.
i have a feeling pretty much does the lyrics to most of the stuff but i could also be terribly wrong

Deth 10-11-2005 07:06 AM

I think Bruce comes up with the melody for the songs. Also, he plays a little guitar, so he might do chord progressions.

-The Frank 10-11-2005 07:10 AM

haha H has still contributed more songs then davey

Deth 10-11-2005 07:14 AM

I know, but solowise, I always like Davey's more.

Plus, Dave wrote Charlotte The Harlot.

-The Frank 10-11-2005 07:16 AM

i was just about to metion charlott the harlot, its probably one of my favorite maiden songs ever. BUt yah look at the solo for bring your daughter......to the slaughter. My, god can mr.murray play

Deth 10-11-2005 07:17 AM

I hate BYD...TTS. It's on my list of Maiden songs that shouldn't be Maiden songs.

-The Frank 10-11-2005 07:20 AM

i love that song

What about 22 Acacia Avenue?

T'is true, Janick did that solo

I don't see what people dislike about that song, is it because it's about rape?

the_uber_penguin 10-11-2005 11:55 AM

I think the way the Bruce/Adrian songwriting goes is that Bruce tends to come up with words and Adrian comes up with music. Sometimes Steve gets himself on there by adding melodies.

EDIT: Anyone notice Bruce says "You may recognise this reprobate. Hey, H'!" at the start of Running Free on Live at Donnington.

It only just clicked what he was talking about...Adrian joined them for guest guitar for that song, according to Run To The Hills.

And doesn't Bruce sound drunk when he's talking?

and Paschendale

Lord Abortion 10-11-2005 12:39 PM

I'm not too much of a bring your daughter fan personally, far too ACDC for my liking.

crag 10-11-2005 12:41 PM

funny, most people here seem to dislike BYDTTS yet its the only Maiden song to reach no. 1

Lord Abortion 10-11-2005 12:43 PM

That's the point, more commercially sucessful maiden songs tend to be worse offerings.
That's the point, more commercially sucessful maiden songs tend to be worse offerings.
I don't know, I like Can I Play with Madness quite a lot (my favorite off of Seventh Son...).

And I'll agree to Dave>Adrian. Remember... Rainmaker.

crag 10-11-2005 01:43 PM

if we're still referring to who is faster apparently Janick wins
He's Maiden's fastest guitarist, and, if he wants to be, equally as fast as almost anyone out there
Lord Abortion 10-11-2005 01:46 PM

I know I may have mentioned it before, but Blaze sounds really Scottish on the chorus of Lightening strikes twice, doesn't he?

is that the part that goes ''maaaaaaayyybe liiiiightning strikes twice?''

np- lightning strikes twice
is that the part that goes ''maaaaaaayyybe liiiiightning strikes twice?''

Yep, in that very Scottish way

crag 10-11-2005 01:54 PM
Yep, in that very Scottish way
hee hee, i see what you mean. i've always thought his vocals had a slight Scottish quality to them.

ashman 10-11-2005 01:55 PM
if we're still referring to who is faster apparently Janick wins
I reckon that's more opinion that fact...we all know Blaze is a beacon for unbiasedness...
hee hee, i see what you mean. i've always thought his vocals had a slight Scottish quality to them.
Yeah, same. Speaking of Scottish, I've only ever heard The Clansman live (RiR)...is the studio version any better?
