I'm a bit obsessed with Astral Weeks right now.

I've also been listening to some Neil Young, the Pop Group, Neu, and Peter Gabriel. But mainly Van Morrison.
Got Moondance yet? It's better, I think.

Jack_500 10-27-2005 05:38 AM

has to be maximo park - the album is awesome.
best tracks are aplly some presuure and graffiti. anyone else heard of them?

Tangy zizzle 10-27-2005 06:35 AM

I bought the Paper Chase's album the other day. It's real strange. They have stale, "weird" lyrics and very very odd composition. i don't know if I like it yet.
Got Moondance yet? It's better, I think.
Yeah I've got Moondance. It's really good, but I kinda connect more with Astral Weeks.
I just saw the movie You and Me and Everyone You Know.

I am getting the score on CD, for sure. It was written by Michael Andrews, whose first project was the score for Donnie Darko. I have now decided he is the man.
The score for this movie really delightful. Very fitting and has a vital impact on the general mood of the entire film. It was a very enjoyable film. When I saw it in the theatre the audience consisted of me and two elderly couples. It was quite odd.

When I went to see the Motorcycle Diaries it was like that as well. There was my girlfriend and I, and another couple in the theatre, I've never been in a movie theatre like that before. Deserted. It was a good movie too.

Tomahawk 10-27-2005 11:51 AM

It was the same way when I saw the Power Rangers movie.

Interstate 10-27-2005 12:51 PM

Finally another person who thinks Astral Weeks is better than Moondance.

Electrocution 10-27-2005 03:46 PM

Oddly enough, it was that way when I saw Zoolander. No one liked that movie at first, I swear. It's only funny after you watch it anyway.

Alex Drosen - Sit and Melt
Have you gotten a chance to listen to it on better speakers? If so, what do you think?

Daniel! 10-27-2005 05:23 PM

Pretty much all I have been listening to over the past few days is Gorilla Biscuits, Black Flag, and some Refused. I only have one album by each. I need to listen to more bands like them. Any reccomendations?

Electrocution 10-27-2005 05:40 PM

Youth of Today
Minor Threat

EDIT: to Daniel

homerthegreat 10-27-2005 06:00 PM

Pink Floyd.

JonM 10-27-2005 06:08 PM

That's one of the best done Halloween avatars yet. Well done, sir.

If you like Pink Floyd, you should be listening to Elbow right now. That's what I've been digging lately. And for the last two years.

Anxious 10-27-2005 06:12 PM

Bush Tetras-Boom in the Night

And the song, Minutemen-Little Man with a Gun in His Hand. I learned it on guitar & bass, and Imust have listened to it 20 in the past few days.

A good damn call. I just listened to Asleep In The Back, though. I was reading Mojo last night, and they called AItB one of the best British rock albums of the last 20 years, and they said that CoT was a weak release, scrambling to catch up! I couldn't understand it! I always liked CoT better, and not that I think AItB is bad (it's one of the few records in my library with a 5/5 rating, as are the other two Elbow records), but best British rock albums of the last 20 years? I don't know. I'd certainly say that about CoT though.

Meanwhile, they gave the new one a bloody 3. Ridiculous.

br3ad_man 10-27-2005 06:43 PM

I've only heard the first two. How does the new one compare?

JonM 10-27-2005 06:48 PM

Awesome. It hasn't had as much time to grow on me as CoT, but it probably will. Imagine the emotional high points of CoT, the furious, crashing, exploding crescendos. One of my favorite things about that record is how those were the peaks and the pace and emotion of the record started right in the middle and slowly built up and then slid back down and went all the way to the opposite end and then slowly came back up. On the new one, we start off closer to the top, and it never goes down as far. So you get a lot of the power of the second record, just as fully, but not as much of the variation, which may have given some of the peaks of CoT their power.

I'll clarify if that was too hippie for you.

br3ad_man 10-27-2005 06:50 PM

Nah I get it. I'll check that one out soon for sure.

I'll check out Youth of Today. I already greatly enjoy Minor Threat. Thanks.
Rogue Wave - Out Of the Shadow

this is a pretty fun album.
Oooh I like that record, too! "Fun" is the word I'd use to describe it, too.

asymm 10-27-2005 07:05 PM

Lightning Bolt - Hypermagic Mountain
Archer Prewitt - Three
Plus other random tidbits scattered here and there.
