Dancin' Man 05-27-2005 05:37 PM

Just saw Star Wars. Crap acting and lame shot transitions (looked like a cheap news cast) but I thought the story was cool and it looked really pretty.

Depends on how die hard a Star wars fan you are

Renaissance 05-27-2005 05:58 PM

That "agree?" thread makes me e-angry @ the internet.

Arucard 05-27-2005 06:44 PM

Just got back from several pubs and watching **** at one of my girlfriends houses. Was fun.

By **** you mean pr0n, right?

Is this that hot friend that fancies you that you showed a pic of a while back? Before your haircut?

Dancin' Man 05-27-2005 06:54 PM

Hahahaha... I just found audio by Especially Likely Sloth (side project of the.. bassist? of Agalloch) it is so strange and funny. I'll upload some songs.

I am right now eating volcano beef from the best Chinese food place around. So good. My dad got it at the lunch buffet and brought a bunch home.

Badmoon 05-27-2005 06:56 PM

Sorry for interupting whatever you were all talking about, but have any of you ever read "Last Go Around" by Ken Kesey?

Dancin' Man 05-27-2005 06:59 PM

Alpha and Omega's Kingdom Come? I don't suppose that has anything to do with my solo project does it? Also, no haven't read it. Interested to check out some Ken Kesey though.

Bartender 05-27-2005 07:01 PM

Might be a Johnny Cash reference.
..Star Wars...lame shot transitions (looked like a cheap news cast)
That's the point, isn't it? All the various wipes and such, it's like a trilogy in-joke.

Dancin' Man 05-27-2005 07:06 PM

Probably was.

Yeah, I suppose but I think they look bad. I much prefer a dissolve or just a sharp transition. I did like the wipes made by pieces of the set. I just don't like it when you come out of the theater remembering specific transitions and how bad they were.

Both of those tracks have samples of a certain famous someone's voice who you would not expect.

Well then you get people like me coming out glad the crappy transitions are still there :) So you can't please everyone I suppose.

Downloading those tracks now, since I like Agalloch. Do they have anything released, or is this just a demo or something?

Haha, no.

Yea, "The Man Comes Around".

trev913 05-27-2005 07:21 PM

I thought that Star Wars' shot transition looked like a PowerPoint...

But I did enjoy it as a movie. It really got me fired up that Annikan (sp) was so easily influenced.

Dancin' Man 05-27-2005 07:25 PM

I thought it was lame how Palpatine seemed to randomly select the name Vader. I wish there was more reason behind the name.

'Tender - this is nothing like Agalloch. If that's what you expect, prepare to be very disappointed.

Bartender 05-27-2005 07:26 PM

Well given the band and song names, I wasn't expecting anything too serious or Agallochish. Interesting, anyway. It's Not Rocket Surgery.. is pretty good.

Thor 05-27-2005 07:51 PM

I will agree with the first thing you said there. I would have liked to know why he picked Vader, instead of just randomly saying it.

I just got back from a Big Pretty and the Red Rockets concert, and it was incredible. You guys should really check this band out.

Dancin' Man 05-27-2005 07:52 PM

I wish they had Vader playing in the background when the name was chosen. That would've added major cool factor in my mind. Imagine, an audio cameo.

That's a decent idea, but it wouldn't have fit the movie at all.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-27-2005 08:10 PM

I think Anakin's transition to the dark side was overall just too short. I actually expected for it to happen earlier in the movie.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:12 PM

His mental breakdown happened slowly throughout the whole time.

Thor 05-27-2005 08:14 PM

Since we are on the subject of Star Wars, who else thought that General Grievous was a total badass? I sure did.

Illmatic 05-27-2005 08:16 PM

Badass?

He was the worst character in the whole freakin' movie, pal, and one of the worst movie characters of all time, period.

A hunched-over four-armed coughing droid with a Jamaican accent? So cool

Am I the only one who thought that Samuel L. Jackson should have played a main villain?

Bartender 05-27-2005 08:17 PM

Probably. I thought he just shouldn't have been there.

Apocalyptic Raids 05-27-2005 08:17 PM

I meant the actual fall to the Dark Side, I was expecting him to fall earlier and have a longer tranistion.

EDIT: I thought Grevious was an absolute coward. Although I saw the Animated Clone Wars Pt. 1 yesterday and he was a little less cowarly than in the movie.

Kage 05-27-2005 08:17 PM

Am I the only one who thinks Samuel L. Jackson should never be in another movie?
