Am I the only one who finds YYZ hugely overated?

It's technically very impressive, but it's not really a [i]song[/i], just a protracted solo. Nothing about it grabs me at all. And going purely on technicality there are many other songs which trounce it, so I really don't see what the deal is.

Listen to The Who - The Real Me. It's better. Or Ramble On by Led Zeppelin. Or What's Goin' On by Marvin Gaye. There are quite a few better songs, in fact.

Psh. Guitar is overrated. Ukulele is where its at...

There are even better Rush songs.

I'm not sure that people think that its a good song, just good for scales on bass perhaps.

I like YYZ.... though i dont find it technically impressive(but im not impressed by anything realy, one of my courses..)

Most all the songs I listen to and prefer over YYZ are technically worse, but just better as songs. I'm not keen on Rush.

Don't get me wrong, I do like Rush, they have some fantastic songs, I'm just not sure YYZ deserves to be counted among them. Yet it persistantly tops bass charts.

i realy find Closer to the heart to have a harder bassline...

I think its so popular because it gets more mentions among bassists.

That becomes the only Rush song they ever hear.
