niobium 11-07-2007 03:56 PM

Anxious 11-07-2007 04:06 PM

"Freak Out" by Liars is such a JAMC rip-off.
18. i never went through drivers ed.
oh. that sucks.

Eliminator 11-07-2007 09:30 PM

how does it suck that he didn't go through drivers ed

Kayetan 11-07-2007 09:33 PM

drivers ed was a blast for me. the were usually only 2 or 3 other kids and my class and it was always really weird and awkward (and hilarious in my head).

okay 11-07-2007 09:38 PM

my drivers ed class was occassional

niobium 11-07-2007 09:52 PM

i'm glad that i didn't have to go through drivers ed

br3ad_man 11-07-2007 10:20 PM

How does driver's ed work? In Australia when we get lessons, we just call up a school and an instructor comes and picks you up and takes you driving for an hour.

Kayetan 11-07-2007 10:25 PM

It's different by state i think. I had to go to 24 hours of classes, then 8 hours of driving with an instructor.

okay 11-07-2007 10:27 PM

in arizona drivers ed isnt required anymore but i took it to lower my insurance

btw if anyone has Chavez Ravine by Ry Cooder they should send it to me because i heard Chinito Chinito and decided that i need to have it

br3ad_man 11-07-2007 10:35 PM

Interesting...in my state lessons of any kind are non-compulsory, you just have to pass your test.

okay 11-07-2007 10:40 PM

thats pretty much how it is in arizona now

biografiend 11-07-2007 10:46 PM

My driver's ed teacher slept or sang to Kelly Clarkson as we drove him around to do errands. And a few times we drove to McDonalds for him. Lame.

ATM 11-07-2007 10:57 PM

Yea my drivers ed instructor made me take him to Subway.

how many hours do you have to do in qld? they've raised it to 120 here. I'm glad I got in when it was only 50.

niobium 11-07-2007 11:40 PM

here, you have to do 30 hours of schooling. 2 hours a weekday for 3 weeks. then i guess you have a test, but i wouldn't know.

Apocalyptic Raids 11-07-2007 11:51 PM

here you do a pretty simple test about the road rules etc and then you get your learner lisence, you can do that when you're 16. they give you a log book and then you need to accumulate a certain amount of hours driving time with a parent or someone on their unrestricted lisence in the car with you. once you get the hours done you need to do a driving test where you drive around and some dude marks your driving, and if you pass that you get a provisional lisence which you stay on for 3 years and then you're eligible for your unrestricted lisence.

that's the short explanation :-\

same here, but no one will actually do the full 120. Once people get to around 60 i imagine they will make up most of the rest.

in other news, I bought Strawberry Jam and Straight Outta Compton on vinly.

okay 11-07-2007 11:56 PM

im thinking of buying Yank Crime on vinyl but i dont have a record player

Apocalyptic Raids 11-07-2007 11:59 PM

I wish I had something to play vinyl on.

sgrevs 11-08-2007 12:02 AM

I bought one off ebay for $80 new. I didn't even have to get it posted, I just drove there and picked it up.

Konstinisle 11-08-2007 12:06 AM

I wonder if CDs will become like vinyl when everything becomes strictly mp3 orientated.

niobium 11-08-2007 12:17 AM

there will never be cd connoisseurs. ever.

Anxious 11-08-2007 12:19 AM

Box sets.

okay 11-08-2007 12:26 AM

global infrastructure will collapse before there is a chance for music to become exclusively mp3 oriented

Zmev 11-08-2007 01:14 AM

I got my license when I was 18. It was pretty simple

Written test 1: Fail

Written test 2: pass

Driving test 1: Fail

Driving test 2: Pass

I've been driving ever sine :chug::chug::smoke:

Happymeal 11-08-2007 01:27 AM

I failed my driving test 2 years ago and I haven't tried again since. Gonna try again next spring

(*The Noonward Race*) 11-08-2007 01:34 AM

I'm not sure what it is now. It wasn't anything when I got mine.

I got mine the day after I turned 18.

Robert Crumb 11-08-2007 01:48 AM

My driving instructor was a pretty rad dude. He was this dude who claimed he taught Michael Jackson how to drive.

poopie 11-08-2007 01:51 AM

i never took my written test... when i was getting my picture and stuff i went up to the counter and she asks me a bunch of questions and one of em she says "and you took your written test?" and i'm like "... yup." and that was that. lol. DMV FTW
