Thomas Dybdahl - That Great October Sound
Such an amazing album. Amazing voice. "Life Here Is Gold" is beautiful.
I'm thinking it's about time I checked out this guy. |
I bought at borders yesterday:
Tom Waits - Rain Dogs The reissued Slanted And Enchanted and the reissue of Petitioning The Empty Sky. I have to say I'm digging Tom Waits alot. |
I take it I'm not the only one who's weekly artist chart still hasn't shown up?

Last.Fm is just being screwy. I've listened to Highway 61 Revisited a few times today. |
Half-Handed Cloud - Learning About Your Scale
Kinda reminds me of Olivia Tremor Control crossed with The Unicorns. Except different. |
1 Bob Dylan 38
2 Erik Petersen 34 3 Sonic Youth 21 3 Ghost Mice 21 5 Incubus 20 6 Bob Dylan and The Band 16 7 The Stooges 14 8 Defiance, Ohio 12 9 Robert Blake 10 9 Mischief Brew 10 I've never willingly listened to Incubus in my life, so they must have been my brother. Overall pretty accurate list. |
Simon & Garfunkel

what the hell? According to last fm I've listened to radiohead 84 times in 2 days. I just recall listening to HTTT twice. weird.
|
The Drones - Wait Long by The River & the Bodies of Your Enemies Will Float By
I'm going to keep listening to this album until I hate it, then I'm going to keep playing it until it's burnt into my ears somehow. I've just started paying attention to the lyrics, and man they're good. Gareth Lyddiard is a fragile man. Australia has some shit it needs to sort out. |
Now that I sorted my 'Japanese' folder artists into real folder genres I'm listening to all my Shibuya-kei again.
So much love for Kahimi Karie and Takako Minekawa. Love for Cornelius too, but in a manly way. |
Spoon - Gimme Fiction
Cyne - Evolution Fight and right now it's Half Japanese's Sing No Evil. I feel a HJ kick coming on. Good times. |
Jenny Lewis with the Watson Twins - Rabbit Fur Coat
It's pretty sparse (in a good way), and she's got a really pretty voice. Some country southwestern flavors in there too. Ladytron - Witching Hour It's "electro" or "electro-clash" or whatever. It's got synthesizers. It's alright. Decent homework music at least. The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute Specifically, "Cassandra Geminni". I don't care if you most of you dislike TMV/this album, that song is bomb diggity. |
Refused - The Shape of Punk to Come
Awsome. |
Animal Collective is pretty groovy.

What ever happened to The Ashtray Girl?
|
Langley Schools Music Project (1976-77)
Television David Bowie Elton John A Certain Ratio The Langley Schools Music Project is pretty sweet. Basically, it's a group of grade schoolers doing covers of 70's songs, including stuff by Brian Wilson, the Beatles, and a hawt cover of Space Oddity by David Bowie. Definitely worth checking out, most of the covers are interestingly good. Its on regnyouth rite now. |
Minus The Bear- Highly Refined Pirates, Menos El Oso
I can't decide which album is better. Most people say the former, but they're both really good. |
What ever happened to The Ashtray Girl?
She gradually dissapeared so no one really noticed so much I think. :( |
Who's filling the alt/indie token lesbian role then?
|
I guess the spot is empty at the time being.
This reminds me of a time when Orb wrote a review of an Ani DiFranco album and and someone (pixiesfanyo?) said "this would be better if I was a female lesbian" and I laughed. |

Isaac Hayes - Shaft OST
He does it better than Barry White. Or at least I seem to think so. |
Who's that black private dick who's the sex machine to all those chicks?
|
Adolescents - s/t
The Rudiments - Bitch Bitch Bitch Captain Beefheart - Doc at The Radar Station Yeah Zappa, that's a good Beefheart album, i commend your recommendation. Not as good as TMR, but much better than Ice Cream for Crow. Run Paint Run Run is my favorite song there. I havn't listened to the Rudiments for a little while, thats one of my favorite ska punk albums. Great band. Adolescents are an old favorite, and i still love them. I've been getting back into alot of hardcore i stopped listening to just after i joined this forum. Nothing beats the honesty and passion of 80s hardcore punk. |

It's true. I've been listening to the Slits a lot lately, which is odd because I thought I hated Cut. Upon further inspection, I still hate it. But there are a couple really good songs in that mess. Ari Up's voice is growing on me. |
