All of a sudden New Zealand started doing okay in International sports.

Football(soccer to you americans) team qualified for the World Cup. We'll get hammered in the first round but here's hoping it's only by like 5-0.

We won the cricket test the other day.

And well we've always been good at Rugby.

gaslight 11-29-2009 04:27 AM

New Zealand have had a fine cricket team for a while. Not like, world #1 contenders or anything a but a solid side.

I can't believe soccer caught on here.

Was hoping France would do the job on New Zealand but no such luck. Well played by the All Blacks though.

funkyhoney 11-29-2009 05:48 AM

France generally do stomp massive amounts of colon in rugby.

Yeah, I mean you actually won the rugby world cup like a decade or two ago...

I finally got a tuning pedal, Boss TU-2, a standard.

I got it off some guy on craigslist who delivered it to my door. When I met him, I found out he was a 65-year-old man who has been playing guitar for 52 years. Turns out he just didn't need the tuning pedal.

It looks brand new and I got a nice $50 discount off the new price.

gaslight 11-29-2009 08:24 PM

Nice one man. Those are nice tuners.

I had one but it got stolen :(.

BenJammin 11-29-2009 08:45 PM

I have a tuner on my ME-50B. It tunes okay, but my bass doesn't really come out of tune that much, except occasionally for the B string... sadly, that is the one note the tuner isn't so keen on reading accurately.

gaslight 11-29-2009 08:48 PM

That's a bitch.

You've probably tried it already, but have you tried sounding the 12th fret harmonic on the B string to bring it in range for the tuner?

karmapavementplan 11-29-2009 08:49 PM

My e-string keeps coming out of tune cause we play in drop C#, which is a bastard. Korg Pitchblack ftw.

Yeah, it does in a pinch. I have a good Korg tuner, but it's hand held. Not ideal for live use. Having my B in tune is important, though, because we play a number of songs where I'm using it, up to, and including, the open B.

gaslight 11-29-2009 08:57 PM

If you get ten seconds spare you can just harmonic tune it or check it against the B on the A string I suppose.

My only tuner is a cheap $40 one these days. I wanted this super awesome Korg tuner for a while, I think it was a Korg, but I just decided knowing my luck it'd just get stolen again so it's cheap ones for me. Sad times, because I love gadgets.

funkyhoney 11-29-2009 09:47 PM

Boss pedal tuner for me. I originally planned on a big rack before I got my TE.

gaslight 11-29-2009 10:44 PM

Yeah rack tuners are kind of excessive unless you want a giant fiddly rig.

funkyhoney 11-29-2009 10:51 PM

My rig already is giant and fiddly without a rack

Winter finally hit today. Put my super tires on and retired my top bike for the season. I also finished all of my russian work for a while. Отлычный день!

Is 7 rack spaces a "giant fiddly rig"?

fatbandit 11-30-2009 04:56 PM

rack tuners suck.

You didnt have one in your rack before you downsized? I love mine. Nice big display, constantly on (great for fretless training), accurate, mute option, and if anybody on stage needs to, they can plug into it. It's light, so it's a convenient thing to have in my rig.

I have not. Isn't it supposed to give a sound similar to an Ampeg SVT?

Black on rosewood on skinny guy = win(?)

fatbandit 12-01-2009 10:15 AM

My rack was a 4u, only 3u was used (2u poweramp, 1 u preamp). When I first started with rack stuff about two years ago, that 4th slot was filled with a power distributor/rack light. But it was useless, so I shifted it and never filled it again, just used a blank 1u plate. The light was a nice idea, but my amp is way below my eyeline, so the light just obscured things. I've never been on a stage so dark I couldn't use my amp properly.

I can see my tuner on my pedalboard just as easily as a rack one, it's always on as well (in the tuner out of my volume pedal - can be muted too with my foot with the volume pedal), as accurate as a rack tuner.

And if anybody onstage needs to use a tuner, they can bloody well buy their own. Dicks.

I've always felt this to be a very important part of being a performing musician. YOU HAVE YOUR OWN SHIT.

Yeah I pretty much kick ***.

I cannot agree with this more.

"Hey dude, can I borrow your bass?"
"What? You KNOWINGLY showed up to a gig without your equipment?"

I've had this happen a couple of times at small local venues. Craziness. Twice the bands have gone on bassless and one time the lead singer told the audience to leave before our set because I didn't let the bassist use my gear. I was furious after that. So disrespectful on so many levels.

FunkMetalBass 12-01-2009 01:18 PM
Black on rosewood on skinny guy = win(?)
No....to all of the above.

Black on rosewood looks terrible. You're too skinny to play bass.

If your band sucked, I'd say "= epic fail" would be more appropriate.

Giga 12-01-2009 01:53 PM

rosewood sucks; observe:
