You know what should catch on?

Rolf.

Special Brew 04-12-2006 08:42 AM

The name of the thread doesn't really matter. Whether it changes or not, we're still going to post here about the same crap.

Wow 04-12-2006 10:39 AM

The name matters because if we keep it as "Emo/Screamo", people would still use the term "screamo", and if people keep using the term "screamo", the wrath of the brown will be felt.

(Thanks to whoever changed the name <3)

Special Brew 04-12-2006 11:06 AM

Oh, I can understand taking out screamo, I was talking about how people want to change it to weird long names like Gav suggested.

Wow 04-12-2006 11:48 AM

They did that before. They changed it to a few City of Caterpillar songs which I think isn't necessary. "Emo Community Thread" is just fine.

Rolf. :)

Wow 04-12-2006 12:35 PM

More than 75% of the times Neeshee intends to type "rofl," he types "rolf."

sink sink 04-12-2006 01:41 PM

Most internet acronyms are pretty lame.

Wow 04-12-2006 01:52 PM

Most besides "Rofl" and "stfu"

stfu

bottlerocket 04-12-2006 03:26 PM

Gtfo is OK but rofl and stfu are cool.

tbqh just pisses me off.

Now, whenever i have kids, i can tell them how their pops was alive back when it was called 'The Emo/Screamo Community Thread'.

cbmartinez 04-12-2006 03:37 PM

Neeshee, I love you with all my heart but stop being a bitch about using screamo. It's a perfectly fine term that helps for the more specific classification of bands within the genre. If you can jock Midwest emo, you should have no problem with screamo. The thread was fine they way it was.

bottlerocket 04-12-2006 03:46 PM

I don't really care, but I can hear a difference between stuff like Olive Tree and Off Minor...but that's just me. It's all good music either way. :thumb:

You're welcome.

I started doing the changing of the punk community thread name becuase "The Community Thread" got really boring after 2-3 years.

Someone used that argument with him before and he schooled them hard. I expect it will happen again.

bottlerocket 04-12-2006 03:53 PM

I say who cares...it's all emo to me. :thumb:

/waits for Neeshee

Bring it on, I say.

I remember that. I'm just saying the name doens't matter, we still talk about the same jack. So I don't really care what we use as the name.

But screamo is a subgenre or whatever within emo, so we don't need to say screamo when this thread applies to all emo anyway.

bottlerocket 04-12-2006 04:38 PM

So how 'bout that dang blasted emo music?
Heey Gav..I don't wanna' be bashed :) so I'm gonna' ask ya straight up..Are Taking Back Sunday and like Thursday and those sort of bands Emo? Or what are they?
No, I say they are pop-punk.

Surtr 04-12-2006 04:43 PM

Well..It's just they don't really fit under the real idea of Pop-Punk..Which is more like Blink, MxPx and that kinda' stuff imo. Thats why I asked lol...

Not at all are they emo. Thursday would be post-hardcore. Taking Back Sunday are pop-punk.

bottlerocket 04-12-2006 04:43 PM

Taking Back Sunday is pop-punk.

Thursday isn't really straight pop-punk...I see some indie and some post-hardcoreish stuff in there. They're tough to classify. A lot of us here like them but they're not really emo nor hardcore. :p

-Gav

Brain Toad 04-12-2006 04:48 PM

I used to like Thursday, haven't listened in a long time. I'll be completely honest, I don't think I've ever heard a Taking Back Sunday song besides their cover on the Tony Hawk soundtrack.
