I'm basically taking this one disc at a time, because it's a 4 disc album with a total playtime of 4 and a half hours, but I wasn't even getting bored. I'm stopping now simply so it still sounds fresh, but that probably isn't even necessary. I'm dancing around the point I want to make anyway, which is that, from what I've heard so far, this is album is [i]fucking[/i] incredible and the best thing I've heard this year and indeed the decade so far. It's conceptually heavy and musically heavy, the implementation of strings in a jazz setting is often haphazard but here it's absolutely essential to the music, as the classical elements add this weight and a gripping drama to the album. I might have to write a review for this, I'm violently in love with what I've heard. It's inspired by the civil rights movement and you can feel the sorrow of all those who fought, it's incredibly personal. There's a loneliness communicated which is rare in any music, let alone music with this many musicians involved. I feel some of the weight these people carried on their shoulders. I'm completely floored. Not for everybody, but oh my god I could not recommend this enough. I haven't even heard the whole thing yet, and this is what I'm saying. I'm sorry for clogging the thread up with this long and stupid shit, but I feel like I could write essays about what I've heard, I feel richer as a person and a music listener for what I heard. We can go back to this thread now.
