Stew_Blink 05-26-2005 02:35 PM

Stew_Blink 05-26-2005 02:41 PM

My band might have our first gig sometime soon..so I was wondering if you guy's could suggest some idea's for some songs we could play? I want Maiden, and I can play a fair few of the songs..give a few suggestions of Maiden songs for us please?

Lead-Learn's stuff fast, is a really good guitarist
Rythem/vocals-should be lead, but he wants to sing, he's amazing
Bass-fairly good, learn's stuff fairly fast
Drums-I'm decent enough

Maybe Wickerman, Trooper, Hallowed be Thy Name, Number of the Beast or Killers...they're all good and easy...

Lord Abortion 05-26-2005 02:52 PM

we are currently learning the trooper and futureal...

hallowed when we get a bigger stage-time

the_uber_penguin 05-26-2005 04:50 PM

The Wicker Man :D

We're going to take an interlude just before it, so we can start it the same way they do on Rock In Rio (maybe use Duel Of The Fates from the Star Wars I soundtrack instead of Arthur's Farewell, though).

You are so 'kin ungrateful, you know that?

D-Noon12 05-26-2005 06:06 PM

Yeah, I'm a HUGE Maiden fan.. Prodigal Son is the ONLY Maiden song I've ever heard that I don't like. Why would anyone do a cover of that? I've NEVER heard a cover of that song by a good band such as Iced Earth or Cradle of Filth. I suggest NOT doing that.

paco999 05-26-2005 06:15 PM

In spite of everyone mentioning what Maiden songs are they currently learning. I'd like to add that I'm learing the guitars from Transylvaina the intro and most of the other riffs are easy. However, those solos are a bitch, or is it just my inexperience.
Phantom of the Opera on bass
That is one of the Hardest tabs I've ever tried (and failed) to play.

AIC/EAZY-E 05-27-2005 05:09 AM

I've just got into Maiden, and I downloaded what are considered their best songs. The one that stood out the most were Hallowed Be Thy Name and Rime Of The Ancient Mariner. Those songs pwn me so hard. And Bruce Dickinson is still such a good singer, his live performance from what I've heard is still pretty flawless even though they've been going over 20 years strong. I plan to stay away from the singer between Somewhere In Time (?) and No Prayer For The Dying as the general consensus is, they suck. But I'm sure people in this thread think otherwise.

You mean Blaze. He was on X Facter, and Virtual XI.

Thunder Fingers 05-27-2005 05:20 AM

^haha.. Blaze dont suck... and blaze was on X factor and Virtual XI.. your a idiot if you follow the general opinion, make up your own, listen to them, and if you think they suck, ah well... atleast you tried...

Somewhere in Time, Seventh son of a seventh son, No prayer for the dying AND fear of the Dark have Bruce on Vocals..

not anymore...

Lord Abortion 05-27-2005 07:13 AM

/listens to prodigal son...

mmm... six-string

ok I accept it's awesome and would be extremely grateful if maiden play it

Thunder Fingers 05-27-2005 07:18 AM

mmm...six string?

that wasnt realy my goal, but anyway, you should be grateful for that maiden still make music and are touring, so what if they play a song you dont like? (like some of the guys on the IM BB, starts complaining over the 2 last albums being to long... feck 'um.. i start to remember why i left that place....)

ok, i love you again..

Lord Abortion 05-27-2005 07:26 AM

yeah... I was on maidenfans - that WAS elitist

I AM grateful for the joy that maiden bring the world
and may it continue for many more years

Last two albums long?

I don't think so...

Thunder Fingers 05-27-2005 07:28 AM

i like every song on them, Maiden have no songs that make me scream in horror.... nor have Rush...

Lord Abortion 05-27-2005 07:34 AM

yeah...

I was reading the fear of the dark insert last night...

there are a few anti-apparition jokes in there

like where the band are sitting with signs with the song names nicko has the apparition, which he has let fall and looks pissed off

another one is that on the back there is the track listing with "the apparition/gers"
on it- there are no other credits on the tracklist

like they are trying to move the blame for this on janick

Deth 05-27-2005 07:45 AM

Every band needs a whipping boy I suppose. Why not the new(ish) guy?

crag 05-27-2005 08:45 AM

poor janick

RockerGav 05-27-2005 11:22 AM

Wow, long time no post in here.

Just got the Run to the Hills book, anyone else got/read it? No doubt there will be....What do you guys think of it?

Got Somewhere in Time and Fear of the Dark last week, not listened to Fear yet but I have listened to SiT, its probably my least favourite Maiden album that I've got so far, although theres still plenty of good stuff on it.

Only need 3 more albums to make the wee Eddy face thing from the sides of the albums, I know I need Killers (have it on vinyl and CDR already though), No Prayer for the Dying, and one other one, I'm thinking its A real live/dead one? Don't know, I have all the other Bruce/Di'Anno studio albums....So I'm thinking its probably a live one.

SiT is very underrated IMO. Loneliness of the Long Distance Runner is my favorite Maiden song, and the album as a whole is very awesome. I think its just overshadowed by the perfection of SSOASS.
