You wanna eat you gotta steal.

VTK 12-28-2009 01:47 PM

I'm thinking about ordering Sleep's Dopesmoker. Have any of you listened to the whole thing, and if yes was it mind=blown?

Txus 12-28-2009 01:49 PM

Yes, it's worth buying.

pate 12-28-2009 04:23 PM

Meh

gmoneyguy 12-28-2009 05:39 PM

I think Holy Mountain is much easier to digest than Dopesmoker. If you've never listened to Sleep, I suggest Holy Mountain first.

Some stoner albums I've been listening to repeatedly:

Unida - The Great Divide
Corruption - Virgin's Milk
Spiritual Beggars - Demons
Fatso Jetson - Cruel and Delicious
Hermano - Into the Exam Room
Dozer - Beyond Colossal
Red Fang - Red Fang

gmoneyguy 12-28-2009 05:53 PM

Good call on the Beggars.

Its worth it if you can actually put aside an hour to chill out, have a beer or a smoke and actually take it all in, its not one of those things you can just listen to a bit of

There is some great stuff in there, ****ing thick riffs and nasty solos

Might have a listen tonight actually!

rasputin 12-29-2009 06:25 AM

it's a great album, but not a casual listen. if you're going to listen to it you have to listen to the whole thing.

I've been at Holy Mountain already. :)

Seems like it's worth the time. Will make sure to pick a lazy, philosophical day to listen to it (no smoker). :P

Bleekill 12-29-2009 10:30 PM

Yeah Sleep is essential.

PROOOOCEEEEEEDS THE WEEEDIIIAAAAAAAAAAN-AH. NAZARETH!

pate 12-30-2009 10:36 AM

I might go to PentaGates, but the show starts so damn late, and will go so damn late, meaning I'll get home so damn late. 3 hour drive ftl

ATM 12-30-2009 10:49 AM

Damn man! Where is the venue?

pate 12-30-2009 11:47 AM

In Chicago. I'm about 3 hours South. Show starts at 10pm.

**** hooded menace is badass

Txus 01-13-2010 08:04 PM

rasputin 01-14-2010 06:12 AM

yah, rules

landonius 01-14-2010 01:58 PM

I just saw the word doom, and thought "Esoteric - The Maniacal Vale"

that album was a ****ing paradigm shift for someone who listens to faster stuff usually lol

Phototropic 01-14-2010 03:03 PM

anyone heard Wo Fat?! I got hold of their Psychedelonaut album, really impressed, they do what people have done before, but they do it way better!

Crysis 01-14-2010 04:25 PM

Anyone heard "Verdun" by Black Boned Angel? Debating whether to get it or not.

Nepenthe 01-14-2010 07:54 PM

thanks walked through a febreze mist cloud earlier might be it

brutebeard 01-16-2010 09:00 PM

Just downloaded new Yob, how is it in comparison with the original line-up?

Bleekill 01-17-2010 12:48 AM

Damn, I just saw Jucifer live, it's totally different than any of their studio albums. They were playing this Drone/Doom **** and it was loud as fuuuuck. One of the heaviest/loudest bands I've seen live. I had ear plugs in and my ears are ringing. I'm imagining this is close to how Sunn O))) would be.
