DT own Megadeth at everything but heaviness (and riffs before someone says anything :p )
But it's all down to preference :) |
I was just thinking about how it seems like how all the huge Megadeth fans are also huge DT fans just like myself. I guess it's true.
|
DT & Megadeth on Gigantour would've been perfect if it had come to England :(
|
Yup it was pretty much perfect. Especially with Symphony X too.:)
|
I always thought you didn't like DT...
Pfft, I love DT, I love Awake, mmm riffs :) |
Yeah it has some great ones on it, like Lie :dribbles:
|
Indeed, if you look through the DT thread, talking about favourite pieces of work by DT Members or something similar.
Everything about Lie, is my favourite work by a member of DT (Obviously Petrucci, more so because of the solo, but the whole song kicks major ***). Petrucci + Mustaine would be the **** imo, I just wish they would release their cover of Cemetary Gates... |
I'd kill to hear that.
DT own Megadeth at everything but heaviness (and riffs before someone says anything :p )
no waay. although i love some DT, i dont like the guitar tone. and also, having listened to DT alot, i still cant quickly recall any particular riff. they arent nearly as catchy as megadeth riffs, IMO. IMO, Megadeth are a far, far better band. lyrically, they are better too. the Glass Prison lyrics seem annoyingly easy to write, to me. and as a prog band, i dont think DT have nearly as much character and feeling as Megadeth.
Petrucci + Mustaine would be the **** imo, I just wish they would release their cover of Cemetary Gates...
wow, that would be incredible. that would be extremely incredible. *slobbers* |
Don't you remember?
When Gigantour was in, wherever Dimebag's from (Sorry, I don't think too much of him, I don't know where he's from), Dream Theater covered Cemetary Gates, and Mustaine played the solo... Someone said it would be released on DVD, but I'm still waiting. |
Mike Portnoy's lyrics leave a lot to be desired. He wrote TGP. His best lyrics would be A Change of Seasons but overall, Petrucci is a better lyricist.
Chu: yeah, I heard about it but I've never seen or heard the actual song |
I think they were planning a Gigantour dvd, but maybe that was cancelled in favour of Aresenal Of Megadeth?
|
[...]but overall, Myung is a better lyricist.
Fix'd. Learning To Live ftw; |
Fix'd.
Learning To Live ftw;
Myung doesn't write enough lyrics. I sure hope there is a Gigantour DVD. Not doing it because of Arsenal would suck. |
I got Arsenal yesaterday. Not watched it yet though...
|
I think Megadeth needs to release a DVD of something pre 97
|
Fix'd.
Learning To Live ftw;
Yup Myung is easily the best lyric writer in DT, Learning to Live has the best lyrics (in a DT song) |
And the Gigantour DVD is meant to come out arond the start of Gigantour 2

http://www.image-entertainment.com/detail.cfm?productID=43524 84mins and 3 disks? Shouldn't it be just one? |
No anthrax clips? Im kind of disapointed with that... I'll still get it anyway.
|
84 mins? Is that it from a huge concert like that?
|
84 mins? Is that it from a huge concert like that?
It does seem a bit short. I wish there were a few more Megadeth, DT, Symphony X and Nevermore songs. |
Does anyone know when Gigantour 2's line-up is going to be announced?
|
No Anthrax? hmmmm...
The Megadeth setlist isnt what I expected. |
84mins and 3 disks? Shouldn't it be just one?
3 disks is probably so the can separate the concert footage, back stage stuff and documentarys or something. |
Yeah it has some great ones on it, like Lie :dribbles:
SFAM has some great riffs too...Home and Beyond this life especially. NP-Tornado of souls. |
I never used to appreciate the TOS solo, until now.
It's a masterpiece. |
