Ha, I just realized that it's like a minute and a half long. It is a bit drawn out, but then again it's leading into a 20 minute song...
Anyway, is there a already a SX thread? Just so we can stop spamming this one. |
Hey, let's talk Opeth.
So, any ideas on the new and hopefully improved setlist for next years tour? I'm hoping for an apperance from Advent. |
Tour?
Hopefully, they play at some non-18+ venues. |
Let's hope.
|
Hopefully they come to Milwaukee this time.
Hey, let's talk Opeth.

I'm hoping for an apperance from Advent.
Good idea :) I know they're coming to Toronto, I'm just waiting for the tickets to go on sale :D I'm hoping for the Master's Apprentice, the Drapery Falls, Bleak (again :p), and the Moor. And it would be cool if Pers did Silhouette. |
I would jizz everywhere if they did Silhouette.
I don't want the Drapery Falls though, maybe the Leper Affinity. And Godhead's Lament. |
I would jizz everywhere if they did Silhouette.
Hopefully not on Per, that would ruin his concentration |
I'd love to see Advent, Necar, Godhead's Lament, The Moor, and Ghost of Perdition.
|
They should just play Patterns in the Ivy, then leave the stage. A few minutes pass. Then all of a sudden, the lights come on and they launch into Demon of the Fall.
|
I'd love to see Advent, Nectar, Godhead's Lament, The Moor, and Ghost of Perdition.
That set list would be :omgfapfapfap!: for me. My dream though: Advent, The Moor, Master's Apprentices, To Bid You Farewell, The Drapery Falls, To Rid The Disease, and Serenity Painted Death. |
Ghost Of Perdition, The Moor, April Ethereal followed by When, Closure (with improvising), Bleak, The Drapery Falls, and White Cluster would be awesome to hear.
ENCORE: Demon Of The Fall/Deliverance Hopefully I'll see something of a familiar set list in Brisbane, April '06. But I'll keep an eye on the song arsenal they have in the concerts leading up to it. |
Good idea :)
I know they're coming to Toronto, I'm just waiting for the tickets to go on sale :D
Where have you seen the tour dates? Their site has a nice chunk left out for February. |
My desired setlist... hmm. The Apostle In Triumph, The Funeral Portrait, Deliverance, The Baying of the Hounds, Reverie (ooooorgasm), To Rid The Disease, Moonlapse Vertigo... I think that's enough. Oh, and A Fair Judgement.
Is there any aussies in here that know if the The Forum in Melbourne is an over 18 venue? If not... I'M THERE! What is your favourite "interlude" that Opeth have done (although I like to think of them as songs by themselves)? I'm talking Patterns in the Ivy, For Absent Friends and Reverie. I love Reverie, it makes me drift away. |
I love the bass on "To Bid You Farewell". I mean it's amazing.
|
Jimmy Gilette can hit 6 octaves!!! OMG
I don't like the vocals on Damnation too much. He goes off-key quite a bit. BWP, Deliverance and GR have Mikael's best vocals.
That's kind of the point. Opeth's music, to me, is about exploring the effects of not doing what is typically "right." This is classically expressed in Mikael's guitarwork with the dissonance and chromatic stuff, but it can also find an outlet in his vocals. Listening to Ghost Reveries right now....screw you all. :p By far Lopez's best work...top notch stuff. His feel for cymbalwork is orgasmic, and often very subtle in its expression. Fits Opeth's atmosphere perfectly. |

Ghost Reveries is the perfect example of how to craft amazing, original fills. Not only on the toms either, listen to his insane footwork. He rivals Flo Mounier in terms of being able to start and stop insanely quick. He gives the music, which would just go all over the place with any other drummer, a really organic feeling when going from acoustic to heavy. On the other albums he always resorted to pretty typical death metal blast beats etc. when they went heavy, but on Reveries he keeps the intricacy even when going as fast as possible. In other words, FARKING A. Lopez is the MAN. |
Lopez is my favorite drummer of all time.
I love how on Lamentations he changes all of the fills but they still all work perfectly. |
I'm just starting to realize how amazing Lopez's work is, probably because I actually didn't even really start paying attention to the rhythm aspect of music until recently :(
Where have you seen the tour dates? Their site has a nice chunk left out for February.
Mikael announced it at the show ;) /NP Undertow - Pain of Salvation |
On 1st of April Opeth come to Israel.... And the ticket price doesn't matter to me at all, coz its once in a lifetime for me for now.
My question: how much did you pay for ticket? |
$20 before Ticketmaster raped me for another 6.
|
ohh thats nothing!
|
It depends more on the venue though.
|
$20 before Ticketmaster raped me for another 6.
Pfft I paid 40 by the time ticketmaster was done with me  |
Never buy them online. They charge more if you do it on the interweb and print it yourself .
|
I guess that's the problem, I always buy my tickets online. I'll just actually go to a ticketmaster location next time.
|
I just go to my post office and buy them there.
Nothing like having your tickets in hand right away |
I guess that's the problem, I always buy my tickets online. I'll just actually go to a ticketmaster location next time.
That doesn't make a difference. You still get overcharged for them. If you want to be free of convienece and third-party fees, you have to go to the box office of the actual venue. |
I paid £14... What's that in Dollars??
|
About $23 or so.
