Seafroggys 03-07-2008 06:57 PM

Oh man.

So I laid down a few drum tracks for my new album. The bassist (who we agreed will do remote recording at his place) gave me an e-mail today saying that he needs

Stereo file of the soloed Drums.
MIDI file of the bass.
Mono file of the soloed bass
Mono file of just the soloed guitars.
Stereo file of the soloed key/synths.
Stereo file of the complete song.

All in 24 bit 88.2 khz AIFF files! First off, that's a hell of a lot of uploading, and my upload speeds are pretty shitty (not much faster than dial-up downloading). Secondly, he's pretty much asking for the entire song. I've been careful when sending him the Midi by either making it a lousy MP3 format or by removing half the tracks so he can't steal my song.

Firstly, the Midi (which I wrote three years ago) and the tempo tracks I set up on my DAW are completely different. I do fancier tempo changes and work in the DAW version, and its split up into multiple session files, whereas the Midi is just one long piece.

I was just gonna send him the bare template with an MP3 of the drums, tell him what part of the song it is, and have him record that way. I mean.....what the hell?

I'm gonna e-mail him back asking why he needs all that and suggest my method. If he gives me **** I'll just have to find another bass player.
