I was responding to your sarcasm with more sarcasm about the fantastic contributions of M-A reviewers.

M-A is very useful for getting information about bands, but beyond that it's basically a massive circle-jerk, full of people with terrible [b]AND[/b] elitist tastes in music. So they are stuck up about liking godawful bands.

One of the strangest websites I use on a regular basis, now that I think about it.

I trust M-A reviews over others like Sputnik. Sputnik reviews always drag on, use incredibly generic and cliche metaphors, and are often bloated with strange information not relevant to the band itself. M-A reviews are simply streams of thought and no elaborate detail is added, which is good since the sound and structure of the album is all that really matters.

Not to say that elaborate reviews are all terrible; there are a few reviewers on this site whose reviews are excellent (Nick and Tyler). I think theirs are the only ones I read anyway.

Derek's reviews are pretty damn good too.

Good point.

In any case, I think that overall album ratings on M-A should be based on the median rather than the average of all the ratings. That way, all the 100% and 0% nonsense will get weeded out.

what they need to do is delete all reviews and show nothing but info... the reviews give people something to say when they hop onto soulseek to try and pretend to be an elitist...

The reviews usually only give blanket statements like "raw and hateful" that any idiot can use without even knowing the band though, it's not like the reviews are at all specific.
