This thread wasn't actually designed for kissing Metallica's ass. As long as he justifies his opinion and isn't mindlessley flaming the band it's alright. At little bit of diversification is a good thing otherwise this thread is going to get wonderously stale.
He just keeps posting the same garbage over and over about how he dislikes Metallica's image. One time is enough for us to hear, STFU about it already for christ sake!

Kickflip_Burrito 01-28-2005 06:08 PM

Why do people moan about image?! Its the music that matters, who cares what hair style Lars Ulrich has or how cool Hetfield looks, they are musicians, not fashion models.

Image matters to some people the way that it doesn't matter to you. Everyone is different and has different beliefs.
I prefer Jason to Rob...as much as Rob is better at actual bass, I loved Newsted's lead/backup vocals (IE lead on Seek/Whiplash during LS: San Diego, backup on Creeping Death, etc)...who can for get the "DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE DIE MOTHER****A DIE" and then him taking over the "so let it be written, so let it be done.." after the solo on Creeping Death? Who can forget him taking the Whiplash vocals on LS San Diego and Seek during San Diego as well as Woodstock 99 and pretty much every other concert Creeping Death was played at? :x
lol hell yeah. Only Jason could sing that line "die, mother****er die!!!" lol that's so great. And my favorite part of live Creeping Death is when Jason sings the last part.
I listened to Merciful Fate like 3 times today...it was great. "I was made a mercenary, in the legions of he-ee-ell..." I think I'm going to go watch both Live **** and Cunning Stunts concerts, that'll be a blast. Then get overtaken with adrenaline and drum through the last 2 hours of the show.

Kickflip_Burrito 01-28-2005 06:23 PM

Jason > Rob

Rob is a better bassist but Jason was cooler all round, he could do backing vocals so good.

rob can do backing vocals, he sings in stanger

vashts80 01-28-2005 06:27 PM

But does Rob take over songs like Jason did? IE Seek or Whiplash..

KillemAllforOne83 01-28-2005 08:34 PM

Rob is better live.

RiceMonster 01-28-2005 08:52 PM

I've never really liked Jason anyway. Rob is far better in my opinion.
I've never really liked Jason anyway. Rob is far better in my opinion.
Heh, funny about that, I never liked Jason til Rob showed up :P

Edit: Never heard anything by Rob, so I'm concluding from his image, which is bad, yes but meh, I'll get over it when I hear some of his work (Or see them Live, whichever comes first).

Freezing Moon 01-28-2005 09:04 PM

I saw Rob live, I don't know quite what to think.. If he is good he picked the wrong album to join them on.

willis2441 01-28-2005 09:33 PM

 James hetfeild is a fvckin badass, i just saw something on vh1 and some kid asked for an autograph and hetfeild told him to shut the fvck up. i laughed my a$$ off!!

metal_milita 01-28-2005 09:50 PM
Chu, stop whining like a little emo kid about their image and deal with it. You don't like people judging you so don't be a hypocrite.
God man, just because no one else keeps up with this thread 24 hours a day every day doesn't mean they can't post their JUSTIFIED opinions because "you've heard it all." This is a public thread for discussing music in a way that doesn't break any rules, not a "KISS METALLICA'S AND MY ASS" thread. If you have a problem with people posting their opinions that differ from yours, go live in a box. And stop thinking your some internet nazi with your o so smooth comebacks and "p0wnage" crap. Your a damn random internet poster, don't pretend you have bad ass balls over the internet. You and your 4 stars and 10,000 posts whatever don't help your "bad ass" image either like you're some supreme poster with all knowledge and you get to decide whats worthy of our eyes.

In general, shut the fuck up because people like you just piss me off with your narrow-mindness. -rep

Jason is WAY better performer than Rob, his energy is enough to pump even me up (Live Shit). But Rob is a much more skillfull bassist, or so I heard.

If rob did backing vocals in st. anger, then how come he never performs backing vocals live?

Huber 01-28-2005 10:46 PM

He did some in Enter Sandman. I have that video of them at download festival when they were with Joey Jordison. I recall seeing Rob do some vocals.

Really? lol, he didn't do any backing vocals when i saw them live, it was all Hammett. Maybe they have a rocks-paper-siscors match back stage before their performances.

metal_milita 01-28-2005 11:26 PM

Rob did back vocals in the middle of Blackened when Jason used to echo James as he sang "Opposition.... opposition" etc.

Leper 01-28-2005 11:36 PM

Ya, see when i saw them live it was kirk who did all that. kinda strange.
If rob did backing vocals in st. anger, then how come he never performs backing vocals live?
i dont know, but in the video for st. anger i clearly see him singing " you flush it out, you flush it out" so ha!and if you dont beleive me look up the video on launch and watch it.

vashts80 01-29-2005 12:14 AM

That's Kirk singing on the track; Rob is lip-syncing in the video. Rob wasn't even with the band until about a month or so before St. Anger's release.

I got this sick version of Anesthesia into For Whom The Bell Tolls (Live, obviously).
It's amazing, and Anesthesia's a bit different, little faster, and the drums are like double speed, it's axe.

Edit: And the intro to For Whom The Bell Tolls is ****en elite (Different to the CD version), even the guitar sounds different, it's so l33t.

Edit Again: I've also got Cliff's last bass solo and Creeping Death (Both Live 1986) if you're interested in either, say so here.

vashts80 01-29-2005 12:56 AM

Got AIM?

I think Kirk did all the backing vocals in St.Anger (the album). At least it's him in the 3 videos from that album. Kirk is not so good in singing anyway.......:upset:

12,000th post!

I agree, I don't like James' voice anymore. It used to be pretty cool though.

JACKROXYOU 01-29-2005 03:07 PM

JACKROXYOU 01-29-2005 03:18 PM

Freezing Moon 01-29-2005 03:25 PM

I don't mind St. Anger, because I can choose not to listen to it. I don't like his voice live, but I used to like how he sounded. I'm not bashing St. Anger. His voice isn't bad, just not my favorite.

led_zep_luvr 01-29-2005 03:51 PM

hey people im back, i was banned for i think a week or more because i was cooking something in the kitchen and my stupid friend was making gay threads

neways... now im back and i will probably start posting here again

btoto 01-29-2005 04:08 PM

I just bought Load 2 hours ago. After listening to it I can say that it was worth it. I loved it more than Black album.

From the songs I haven't heard before(from Load), The House That Jack Built, 2 x 4 and The Outlaw Thorn are just great.

Three more CDs to complete my 'tallica collection:

Garage. Inc, Reload and S&M :p

^Dream~Theater^ 01-29-2005 04:09 PM

The house That Jack Built is a very good song!

JACKROXYOU 01-29-2005 04:10 PM

eh its ok

king nothing is better
