Don't forget The Replacements, for people who inexplicably love that kind of voice.
I do.

Zappa 03-19-2005 03:03 PM

So I'm going to a formal dance at my high school tonight. When you bought tickets, they gave little wooden maraca keychains. The maraca didn't make noise hardly at all, so I slammed it on my desk in order to break it in half, took the metal keychain off, and placed it inside. Then I recorded a little with it, and edited up the wavs. I got some nice deep bass, and some barely audible little maraca sound to it. I jammed out and made a video that none of you care enough to download:

After I got the recording done, but before I started video-taping, my dad told me I could get a better sound if I put some beads inside. He got out some beads and put them in, and he was right. Then he super-glued it, because he loves gluing. He sort of ruins the jam at the end of the video by coming in to show me that it was glued up and ready for more shakage.

No, no, it's cool. Also sort of the first time I hear the voice of another MXer.

The Toronto show is sold out.

Zappa 03-19-2005 03:29 PM

If my camera recorded better sound, you'd be able to hear what I was actually doing more clearly. It just sort of came out "thud, thud-thud." But that's pretty much all there is anyway. THUD!

Well_Respected_Man 03-19-2005 05:13 PM

That was awesome, you could like defantily use that as a drum track or something and dump more melodic shat on top of it,
Mudhoney - Touch Me I'm Sick
Dinosaur Jr - Freak Scene
Pixies - Debaser

If I were gonna narrow it down to just 3 songs.
I'll check them out as soon as I have the room on my harddisk.

And Zappa.. You look like a crazy mofo

Sucks for you.

Zappa looks like the wales rugby player with the crazy hair, I think he's a prop

Has anyone seen the 1998 version of Great Expectations, with Ethan Hawke? Aside from being a good movie, the soundtrack is ace. One song in particular, "Like a Friend" by Pulp, especially struck me, but I can't find anything remotely close to it on Soulseek. Any help would be appreciated...

Iai 03-19-2005 06:44 PM

The Romeo & Juliet movie is on TV now.

I hate myself for liking it so much.

The guy who plays Mercutio gives an amazing performance though.

It's on This Is Hardcore.

AndreTheHyena 03-19-2005 06:45 PM

Mercutio is my favorite Shakespearean character. I got to be him in a Freshman-year Romeo and Juliet production.
It's on This Is Hardcore.
Yeah, I figured that out, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. Is soulseek being shady for anyone else?

Iai 03-19-2005 06:47 PM

I used it earlier and it was fine. Then again, I was searching for Jem, which isn't exactly obscure.

I'm studying Measure For Measure, and I'm really beginning to like Lucio. But Mercutio would probably be my favourite. There was also a character in The Tempest who I loved and really identified with, but I forget the name.

Iai 03-19-2005 06:50 PM

Taken from Jem's website.

Heroes:
There are so many people I admire, but here are a few of my favourites:
Stevie Wonder
Sir George Martin
Martin Luther King
Gandhi
The Dalai Lama
Bill Hicks
Ricky Gervaise
(I've just noticed there are no ladies present…Traci Lords anyone!)

Wow, she kicks ass.

Caliban?

<_< >_>

Iai 03-19-2005 06:53 PM

Seen them live. :)

I think it was Prospero.

AndreTheHyena 03-19-2005 07:15 PM

Aside from Mercutio, I have great disdain for Shakespeare. :upset:

YDload 03-19-2005 07:23 PM

The best Shakespearean character is Macduff's son, Boy. He says "I am dead" and then dies.

AndreTheHyena 03-19-2005 07:49 PM

This community thread is so much cooler than the Punk one. They're trying to convince me of the relevance of some inane bullshit religion: http://www.musicianforums.com/forums/showthread.php?p=7116155#post7116155

I like the Pop-Punk Community Thread.

Look at the title of it.

My surname is Butler.

denboy 03-19-2005 08:43 PM

They should rename it to "Put it in her Iai"

Happymeal 03-19-2005 08:49 PM

I couldn't play the visual in Zappa's video:( I did hear a lot of thuds however.

Heh, the pop-punkers do that every month.

br3ad_man 03-19-2005 09:04 PM

Hey everyone. My friend lent me his guitar, e-bow and v-amp for my youth camp. What a champion.

Well_Respected_Man 03-19-2005 09:28 PM

I've always wanted an e bow, does it make liek the guitar sound kewl?

br3ad_man 03-19-2005 09:52 PM

Sure does. It's freaking loud though.
