whiteminority 04-10-2006 05:04 PM

Do you not have a record player, Damien?
Do you not have a record player, Damien?
Nope, I haven't been able to find a decent one in a pawn shop around here. This weekend I'm going through Lexington,so maybe I'll check up there, and maybe pick up some more vinyl if I have enough. So far I just have Doc #8 and a Mars Volta single.

Matt? 04-10-2006 05:07 PM

omg i would be so pissed off right now if i was mike.

lmfao

SunnyDayRealEstateAM 04-10-2006 05:07 PM

The Mars Volta are amazing.

I had 7 records before I got my record player.

Fear Before thing signed (I was a fanboy for them for a while)
Black Flag- Damaged
Dead Kennedys- Plastic Surger Disasters
New York Wolf Pack- s/t
Wrecking Crew- Balance of Terror
and a comp called U.S. of Oi!
Dillinger Escape Plan- Under the Running Board

Dude when you get the record player finally and you listen to all the records it is fucking amazing, like a holiday.

deadohiosky9 04-10-2006 05:19 PM

Damien, look on ebay for a record player. sometimes you can get an amazing deal.

I don't want to pay for shipping costs, haha. I'm sure I can find something decent in a pawn shop somewhere. Just not here in this smelly little town. I don't live in London, I'm about thirty minutes away in a town called Williamsburg. London is just the closest recognizable town, and it's still not really recognizable. There isn't **** in this town.

Oh jesus, he can't even play it? bwahahaha

deadohiosky9 04-10-2006 05:30 PM

Oh I see. Well good luck with that. I was lucky enough to get my friend's Sony record player that he never used.

I did the same thing, except our record player just needed a needle replacement. It was awesome to finally listen to all my stuff.

whiteminority 04-10-2006 05:45 PM

Dude I know, when I first got it I put on Damaged and loved it.

pixiesfanyo 04-10-2006 05:45 PM

Guys you should totally check out my record collection.

I don't have a record player, but sometimes I put the album I have on record on the cd player and just look at the record and think "Damn, I get so much cred, for owning Doc # 8 on vinyl."

faggots.

whiteminority 04-10-2006 05:47 PM

Well if he is planning on getting a record player there is nothing wrong with gettins something he wants, especially if he thinks it might be rare.

it's kind of like being Contra III for nintendo when you don't own a nintendo. it just makes you look like an idiot that is trying to impress through their music collection.

whatever.

whiteminority 04-10-2006 05:54 PM

I understand what you are getting at, but whatever man.

It's nothing like that. I've been wanting a record player for months, and I've mentioned it around here more than once. I was just looking around and I saw the album, and I had to get it, because what are the chances of me seeing it again, especially considering where I live. So now I have more reason to finalyl go out and get that player like I've been wanting to. Plus, I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up collecting vinyl anyway, for novelty purposes as well as for listening.

Brain Toad 04-10-2006 06:24 PM

Hardcore record collectors are fags. The ones who will buy mutiple copies of one record to collect all the different colors.

Though I'm guilty of owning 3 copies of Frankenchrist on CD, 2 of those copies can be justified (one remastered, one orginial master)

I bought my records pre-record player because I knew we were going to get it fixed eventually. But buying before you have a player is fine as long as you plan on getting a player eventually. Just buying records to have a collection and no way of playing them is a big waste of money.

Special Brew 04-10-2006 06:35 PM

I'd never buy two copies of a record. That's a waste of money. As long as it has the same tracks, I don't care what color or issue or whatever.

deadohiosky9 04-10-2006 06:35 PM

Damien obviously has intentions of buying a record player and listening to his records. I haven't met anyone who just collects records and never listens to them yet, though I'm sure they are out there.

Brain Toad 04-10-2006 06:41 PM

The only reason I did it for DK is that the songs sound really different, especially between the original and remaster of In God We Trust Inc, they used completely different takes of the songs.

pixiesfanyo 04-10-2006 06:53 PM

Dilation the band I talked about a few weeks back is coming to the big free concert that goes on at my campus.

Excitement (Talib Kweli is headlining which will also be enjoyable.)
