Jesse and I are going to be hitting up an awesome beer store in Montreal, which I'm pretty excited about. I'm bringing him some awesome local brews that he wouldn't be able to get, and we're going to get drunk and discuss the finer points of beer.
Is that why Asians are always mixing up their L's and R's and such?

It all seems pretty interesting. Any language is going to be difficult to learn at first, but with some like Japanese as opposed to French, it's a whole new alphabet-thing to learn.
Yep, they have a kind of R sound but it is somewhere between L and R, it is like a very soft R sound, they don't have a natural L sound in their language so when writing one down they use the character for an R type sound.

Another strange thing is the only consonant which can be written as a standalone consonant is N which actually looks like a weird N: ん

They have five vowel sounds, ordered A I U E O (Ah, Ee, Oo, Eh, Aw):

あ い う え お

Then it goes Ka Ke Ku Ke Ko: か き く け こ

Then Sa Shi Su Se So: さ し す せ そ

And goes on in that kind of way, so they have this thing sorta ingrained in the language of constantly using vowel sounds after consonants and that's why you often hear Japanese people adding like an oo sound after consonants in english words.

Often when you get a Su type thing though people won't really pronounce the oo sound so words like Suki or Sukoshi are more like Ski and Scoshee.

Just like how in English some words end up anglicised, Japanese people Japanify stuff.

Ben: I like understatements. :p
So, last night we definitely played with the worst band we've ever played with. They were this awful metal band. The drummer seemed like the retarded brother of Danny Carey. The guitarist shredded unnecessary solos all night. The singer was this 40 year old woman who was trying to be sexy... and it just wasn't working. And she was introducing every song and telling us what it was about, and they were all retarded.
"I wrote this song after seeing Children Of Men. It's about America and war and all kinds of fucked up shit going on right now."

If you want to hear something terrible: http://www.myspace.com/1867band

And I had to sit through their 40 minute set. :upset:
Just listened to 40 seconds of strapon. That is one crap band. The lyrics make me laugh though.

BenJammin 04-19-2009 03:04 PM

Alright, recording a new song tomorrow!

Jaded 04-19-2009 04:24 PM

This cover band organized a gig a few nights ago and they wanted us to open for them, but we weren't down, so they pulled some lame sh*t where they played a 30 min set before our hour long set and then played another 30 min set afterward. It was great everybody was outside and at the bar during their first set, then we had the place packed for an hour, then everyone left after we played. Moral of the story, we need to start booking our own gigs because I'm done splitting the cover with crappy bands that can't bring or maintain a crowd.

Out of curiosity..

How long does cooked chicken last in a fridge before going bad?

:amaze:...

Sablate McNuff 04-19-2009 10:41 PM

Depends on how it's cooked and stored. My guess, a week?

Well then.

I should expect to be quite sick then.

i just saw spamalot today.

SO hilarious. john o'hurley was actually a pretty good king arthur.

Hey all. What's up?

Went to New Orleans last weekend and it seems to me that everybody was playing a 5 stringer. I only saw one guy use a 4 string bass.

Are 4-stringer in extinction? I means if even this blues players are ditchin' them....:(

Anyhow...WOW...everywhere I turned there where great musicians. You kind of realize the difference between a real blues player and other guys, such as me.

don't worry about it man, I'm still using a 4 string.
I love new orleans, that place is just amazing. if you live in this part of the country then don't miss Memphis in May.

It's usually fairly easy to tell if meat has gone rancid.
It would be rancid, see.

FunkMetalBass 04-20-2009 10:47 AM

^ That makes perfect sense

PaulSimonon 04-20-2009 10:55 AM

Eyyyy.

Anything new?

(I need a new bass.)

See, that's what I though - I was a trained chef for almost a year.

Except, with chicken you can only really tell by smell and I have a cold so my sense of smell is off.

I figure it's been there for atleast 3 weeks, probably closer to 4-5.

Efrim 04-20-2009 12:15 PM

What kind of refrigeration are talking about here?

How well has it been sealed? I've noticed that chicken tends to dry out and get hard before it goes bad.

DaveSavesTheDay 04-20-2009 12:47 PM

It was in a fridge, covered with saran wrap.

It seemed okay, and as of right now I don't feel sick so hopefully I'll be good

FunkMetalBass 04-20-2009 12:55 PM

That's what I'm thinking. The biggest danger with chicken is salmonella. You took care of that weeks ago.

About the closest thing I could find on the internet:

I need a sort of keylogger program that will follow my cursor and key moves and then repeat them every 8 hours.

I know there is something out there as I've used it before, and I'm fairly certain it has "ghost" in the name.

Any ideas, y'all?

EDIT: Also, freee.

??

FunkMetalBass 04-20-2009 01:38 PM

I think that might be the one.

It doesn't have a linux platform though, so I'll have to check it at home.

DaveSavesTheDay 04-20-2009 03:37 PM

May I ask what you're using it for

FunkMetalBass 04-20-2009 03:49 PM

I need to collect information from my company's website every 8 hours for the next month. It's getting really old waking up all the damn time to get the info. I'd like to have my computer login, and take screen shots every 8 hours. It'd be much nicer than the current setup.

FunkMetalBass 04-20-2009 03:56 PM

Is Incubus' Fungus Amongus really that rare of an album? I see them on Amazon for $24 used and $50+ new.

:amaze: 04-20-2009 03:57 PM

holy crap if so i'm selling my copy for sure.

FunkMetalBass 04-20-2009 04:26 PM

Become an Amazon seller and put it up for $20 + $3 shipping. Probably sell pretty fast.

And, if it's the original release and not the 2000 re-release, you might be able to get more out of it. Some dude is selling it for $80 as a "collectible."

Spaceman Spiff 04-20-2009 04:28 PM

I think I have a copy of it somewhere. I couldn't say if it's the original or re-release.

So, Capital H is going on the radio next Tuesday. We get half an hour to play a few songs and do an interview. Sweet.

And we have a show on May 1st.
And May 21st.
And June 26th.

We need more to fill up those big gaps in between.

Our band is still auditioning another guitarist. :upset:

I'm happy for you though. You've come a long way, it pretty sweet.

One day we'll play a North American tour together. =)

Thanks, man. We're busting our asses to do everything we can with this band. Playing as many shows as possible, doing whatever promotion we can do (such as this radio thing), and constantly... well, working.

That would be sweet if we could gain enough recognition to tour.

By the way, we put up a few videos from our show on Saturday. Filmed the whole show, but didn't put it up. Just the four newest ones: http://www.youtube.com/user/cathardick
Check them out if you want. A couple of them feature someone who will most likely become our singer. The video of Napoleon Solo shows how she can rip when she knows and is comfortable with what she's singing. Ehh, maybe not perfect. But still pretty good. She was terrified going up there (it was her first time), so she did quite well all things considered.

Can you imagine trying to fit this on a business card?

Her Excellency The Right Honourable Michaëlle Jean, Chancellor and Principal Companion of the Order of Canada, Chancellor and Commander of the Order of Military Merit, Chancellor and Commander of the Order of Merit of the Police Forces, Governor General and Commander-in-Chief in and over Canada.
