Of Sins and Shadows, Eye of Medusa...that's all I can think of off the top of my head. I haven't given Symphony X a spin in awhile.
|
Inferno (unleash the fire)
oh and egypt |
They're being simplified because it's irritating to see five threads asking about the same band. They were created for a reason... and if you call your own idiocy ironic, then that's fine. The search function works for a reason. Use it next time. Besides, Symphony X don't get discussed enough to warrant an official thread.
As for your question, V: The New Mythology Suite is a worthwhile album. |
hey guys I searched this already and expected some results but didnt get any... please no flames. but could someone recomend some black label society?
|
Ok, I just discovered this thread in the most ironic way ever. Creating a thread asking for good music by Symphony X, I commented on how all threads are being simplified with "official ___ thread" etc. First post, "Official Reccommendation Thread". That was sorta funny for me, the most I thought was that there might be some official symphony X thread floating around or a thread already discussing which songs of theirs is good.
But regardless, does anyone know any good Symphony X songs to the effect of Candlelight Fantasia, Sea of Lies and Smoke and Mirrors etc. Thanks
Evolution is a great song, one of my favourites by Symphony X and is probably one of their heaviest. Excluding the songs you Mentioned, some songs to check out are :- >Fallen(from V, as Anti-Hero said, really worthwhile and IMO an amazing album.) >Masquerade (Very baroque intro, which is really quite funny at first.) >The Odyssey(a 24 minute epic, not far removed from the Stylings of DT's Change of Seasons) If you need much else, feel free to IM me. |

All of their albums are great, but for starters check out 1919 Eternal and/or Blessed Hellride. |

can someone please recomend me some Kreator?
|
There is no such thing as a good Nirvana CD, but megadeth's Rust In Peace is pretty good
Don't be an *** in this thread. Sliptallica, I would recommend only getting Nirvana's best of CD if you do end up getting anything. Nevermind is where most people start, but I got bored with that and no longer play it. You have a similar taste in music to me from what I've seen, and I think you would get bored with it as well. The best of is a decent mix of their recorded tracks and Unplugged segment. |
can someone please recomend me some Kreator?
Coma of Souls is good. Pleasure to Kill is supposed to be. |
Pleasure to Kill is definetly a good album.

Check out 1919 eternal, great acoustic track (speedball) fast as hell. |
can someone please recomend me some Kreator?
Coma of Souls, I have it its great. From what I hear Pleasure to Kill is amazing, and Extreme Aggression is good too. Enemy of God is pretty good too, but get the others first. |
Please reccomend me an In Flames album
|
Please reccomend me an In Flames album
Whoacle or The Jester Race. |
^ The Jesters Race is pretty good, I like it better than Whoracle. They are however, the only In Flames albums I have heard.
|
Whoracle is my favourite, though many would argue that Jester Race is their best.
If you go past The Jester Race, they become more Gothenburg, and less Melodeath. |

Either Either. I'm too busy being lazy to care. :) |
I'm looking to get more into black metal. I haven't heard much at all so far, and the bass seems to be a lot less prominent for me to really like it. So, can someone recommend me some black metal bands that are fairly prominent in the bottom end? thanks in advance.

Black metal is a genre that hardly has any bass, so if that is something you are looking for in black metal it will probably not be something you will like. Either you have to have it grow on you, or not listen to it at all. |
Yeah I'd been reading that one of the characteristics of the genre was the lack of bass. I was just hoping there might be something with a bit more in the lower ranges, just to break myself into the genre a little easier. Thanks anyway.

Emperor is amazing when it comes to black metal!
|
I'd like some black metal recommendations myself, if you could.

I'll recommend some stuff for you two later, for now I am going to play a game. |
I shall recommend some stuff then.
Melechesh - Djinn. Amazing album, by an amazing band. Great Black Metal, with a middle-eastern feel. More melodic, if you want a softer way into the genre. Darkthrone - A Blaze In The Northern Sky. Possibly the quintessential black metal album, very good atmosphere. Mayhem - De Mysteriis Dom Santhanas. One of my favourite albums. Very atmospheric, but the singing may annoy some. Burzum - Det Som Engang Var. A very good start, if you are looking for musically beautiful black metal. Gorgoroth - Pentagram. Perhaps not the best band, but I like them. :) Hope that goes well for now. |
Hmm...Black Metal Wise..
Panchrysia, i can't remember the name of their album but theres only one, so you can't really go wrong! Thus Defiled, again can't really album names but they basically rule. If you're into Black Metal with orchestra, Dimmu Borgir are great for it. That's all I can think of for now, undoubtely I'll post some more soon. |
I'm looking for more bands which have a sounds similar to Biffy Clyro/Reuben.
Any recommendations? |
I'd like some black metal recommendations myself, if you could.
For starting I always say Immortal, Emperor and Dissection. I find them to be perfect starting bands. |
if anybody is looking for a really good metalcore band, i'd recommend Misery Signals. normally i am into black/death metal, but for some reason i can't stop listening to these guys. i seriously encourage everyone to check them out

Is metal church worth listening to?

I don't like YCNI:M or InMe either. Just going by the tastes of my Biffy-loving friends.
What Kinesis track(s) did you get? |
I downloaded the video for ...and They Obey from their website...was not impressed.
Trying another one now though. One Way Mirror this time. |
For whoever wanted the Nirvana suggestion, I am a much bigger fan of "Bleach", their first album, than all of their others. I think it is pretty good.
