I can see by your name you're going to say something about Dave Mustaines contribution to the band.

Care to enlighten us on just how Metallica came big?

Yes I can, and I will.
If you look at metallica's first album "kill em all" you will see that all the songs where written by Dave Mustaine. Now what manny people don't know is that metallica was already verry famous at the year 1983 cause of the release of that same album. They where not poppulair in the mainstream but in the underground metal scene, this is where it all begon. So if you look at it that way you'll see that the succes of mettalica begon with dave mustaine's lyrics that they've ussed. Even the song "the call of khulu" was written by dave mustaine (witch metallica denies, but hey :s ). SO, if metallica didn't used dave's songs, they might be unknow if you get my point. All I'm trying to say is, that if metallica didn't used dave's songs, megadeth would have used then probaly and then megadeth would be as populair as metallica, I hope you guy understand what I'm trying to say. Ok, metallica has some great songs but they are few. If you wanna hear some old skool trash metal you sould try megadeth cause they didn't loose the feeling of real trash metal ( only risk sucks, but dave mustaine says that to so :) ) thats it, I think?? :)

Megadeth only used 1 song that metallica already head and that song is called the mechanix, by metallica it's called the four horsemen. I think the megadeth version is way better and a whole lotta faster. But thats just me

guitarded_chuck 01-15-2004 09:58 AM

He didn't write every song on Kill 'em All either. He helped co-write them, but he never wrote any of the songs by himself. Looking at interviews of the band after they kicked out Dave, they said he never really contributed as much as he should have. "Back then we only had the three of us writing and contributing, now we have all four, and we are better than ever." - James, 1984.

You sir, are an idiot.

Firstly the songs were co-written with Dave Mustaine, so I don't know why you say that. He wrote 4 song from Kill 'Em All.....there's 10 songs on the album. He wrote 2 from Ride The Lightning.....and Metallica don't deny he wrote Call of Ktulu you stupid plank, they credit him for it. The song they denied he wrote was Leper Messiah. If you had these albums you might notice that they credit him where credit is due.

Further more Megadeth stopped being *Thrash* in 1992 when Countdown To Extinction came out.

Please, please get your facts straight before you open your mouth, as you know absolutely NOTHING.

Good day to you.

I'm outta here take care now, byebye then

ThrashMaster27 01-15-2004 12:12 PM

You call people not real music fans for listening to Metallica, yet then you claim you know more about them than everyone. The fact that I don't live in America would be a main reason I don't know about their 'first' demo Power Metal. I do know that the first official one to be released was No Life 'Til Leather and their first song is on Metal Massacre Vol.1

You resorted to using petty insults when you don't know the first thing about what you are saying. You also claim to have seen the 'First' Megadeth and Metallica concerts which would have gone on around 1983-1985, which would make you around 35-40 depending on when you saw them. I can't believe that a 40 year old would say such stupid things, unless they were Retarded......which is a possibility for you.

You also claim to know a lot about Dave Mustaine and his 'Stint' in Metallica.....I'm a big Fan of Dave and I evidently know more about him than you. So yeah, I hope you don't return to these forums.

okay, i retract my old statement. Granted that Mustaine did help write a few songs on the album, but not all. And he didn't write them alone.

ThrashMaster27 01-16-2004 10:14 AM
this guy can piss off. It clearly states that all words and music were written by Hetfield/Ulrich. And what this guy doesn't know could probably fill a ware house.

"No offence lady but what you don't know could probably fill a warehouse"

Simpsons quote I'm guessing.

NoHero9 01-16-2004 11:49 AM

NoHero9 01-16-2004 12:09 PM

NoHero9 01-16-2004 12:10 PM

Do you have a good vocalist for those songs?

Rapscallion 01-16-2004 12:53 PM

Almost good

dazed and confused444 01-16-2004 02:21 PM

ye...hmmm...this thread is too big...way too big...mods should close it and then someone should start a official metallica thread version 2...aha...ingenious idea

TheUnavoidable 01-16-2004 02:53 PM

You think this is big?

Check out the "Any other death heads?" thread. The original, not 2.0.

It took like 5000 posts before that one got closed.

Suffering Dead 01-16-2004 05:20 PM

Call me a noob, call me slow, call me what ya like but here it is

as much as i love metallica, i only just downloaded Orion, as i thought previously that To Live Is To Die was their only instrumental song....but orion is that plus more. IMO it has excellent guitar playing, drumming in time, and the bass is pretty sweet around the 4-5minute mark. Anyone else think this song is a splendid instrumental?

Hitroshimite 01-16-2004 05:24 PM

I always preferred Ktulu, but Orion is still a **** good song.

Kickflip_Burrito 01-19-2004 05:15 PM

Has anyone got the complete setlist for Metallica's concert at Earls Court on the 20th of December?

It would be much appreciated, cheers.

guitarded_chuck 01-19-2004 06:28 PM
Do you have a good vocalist for those songs?
Well, can't sing like Hetfield, but it sounds good to me.
