My Generation off of LaL is so good it should be illegal. I love driving around blasting that like I did today. I get so many weird looks from old people. It's hilarious. It makes me feel like such a rebel.

rockinbass17 05-05-2006 11:03 PM

If I were to give rebellion a soundrack, LaL would contribute several tracks, mores so than any other album. My Generation, Summertime Blues, Young Man Blues, etc.

Riva 05-05-2006 11:22 PM

I'm glad to say that I have done that too. The best song to play is Won't Get Fooled Again (the studio version) and pulling up at the stoplights when they have the build up to the final "Yeah". Once or twice the green light has turned at the same time as Roger's voice coming in. Awesomeness ensues.

JohnXDoesn't 05-06-2006 03:21 AM

lmao at Riva. There was a time when I believe he was sane....that avatar has got to be the best ever....

Anyway, other then 'froggys, who is enjoying the Royal Albert Hall sampler I sent out to a few of you? Anybody have any thoughts?

JohnXDoesn't 05-08-2006 10:19 AM

Man, two days with no posts. C'mon guys, talk about something. Like The Who.

I'll be putting a review of It's Hard :upset: up at sputnik in a bit, so be on the lookout. Go on over and trash our favorite band. :)

Lunch 05-08-2006 10:57 AM

I'll trash them. Too bad Eminence Front couldn't be on a better album.

Slip Kid off of By Numbers.
Hey.. High Numbers.. By Numbers. I just realized that.

Yeah. It's up now. That was fun.

:smash: ----Me
:upset: ----The Who, lmfao....

Riva 05-08-2006 05:48 PM

One day you'll release an album, John, and Pete will post nasty things about you too!

One day!

JohnXDoesn't 05-08-2006 06:06 PM

Yes, 'tis has been a far off dream of mine for many a year now. I'd wipe the floor with that old geezer. :p

Substitute 05-08-2006 07:08 PM

He'd smite you with his nose.

Substitute 05-08-2006 07:10 PM
The only stuff I've never really liked from them are Townshends lesser tracks on It's Hard, the overly synth heavy tracks on Who Are You, and until recently just about the whole of Tommy.
BLASPHEMER!

I have been known to do this.

I'll go bash The Who now. I don't have It's Hard and I don't really plan on getting it either. Eminence Front is so awesome though.

no kidding, Tommy is my second favorite album of all time.

Who Are You has some decent synth tracks. 905 being especially good in my opinion.

The truth will set you free!

ARGGGHHH!

/smashes guitar over your head. In spirit only, of course :p

EDIT: and that goes for 'froggys, too.

I like some of Tommy now. Say a good half of it. And Who Are You, I dig 905, Trick Of The Light, Music Must Change, Guitar And Pen, and the titlle track. I don't do so well with the rest. Not so much the songs as the production/synths. Which just wash over everything for Had Enough, New Song, and Sister Disco. Sister Disco cooks live, though. And Love Is Coming Down is just meh.

I agree with you on Who Are You. You should see my review on Sputnik. I also like No Road Romance (its one of the added tracks on the CD rerelease). New Song sucks :(

JohnXDoesn't 05-09-2006 03:04 AM

^ Yeah, I commented on that album a few months ago. Didn't realize it was you after all this time. I like that review. You did a good job with it. I had to lol right now when I saw the first thing on your list of "Cons" for it was New Song.....

JohnXDoesn't 05-09-2006 06:01 PM

Lunch, you have not gone to trash The Who yet? Do you not have it in you? What the hell is the matter? Going soft on The Who, wtf?

Lunch 05-09-2006 06:32 PM

I double up on the thrashing just for that.

JohnXDoesn't 05-09-2006 08:53 PM

Excellent work, Lunch. It wouldn't of been a complete trashing without you. You closed it out well. :)

Seafroggys 05-09-2006 09:07 PM

we should probably date all the undated albums on Sputnik, just because its something to do and make it look cleaner. I don't know how we'd do it, maybe get a mod to do it or something.

JohnXDoesn't 05-09-2006 09:25 PM

I just did Face Dances since that was my blurb. I think the others might need to be blurbed at least to get a date on them. Although I think A Quick One is dated withouta review of any sort. And Live At Leeds was done by afroman, so he can do that, hopefully. The other two, I'm not so sure? They are the compilations...

Perhaps I will ask in the sputnik forum.

Good work in the Pit, Lunch my fine fellow. I couldn't resist myself. :smash:

Lunch 05-12-2006 11:01 AM

Yea, I was debating whether or not to do anything about it. But I couldn't let that slide by me.

Tag-teamed him.

Seafroggys 05-12-2006 11:26 AM

woah! linky?

Lunch 05-12-2006 11:29 AM

It's in the "How Do You Like Your Rock?" thread, it's a poll.

BludgeonySteve 05-13-2006 09:27 AM

Good work. Nobody insults any band that I like and gets away with it! (or genre. some good memories pwning a guy who made a "classic rock sucks" thread).

Substitute 05-13-2006 11:47 AM

Haha, good times.

Everyone vote for Moon if they haven't already.

BludgeonySteve 05-13-2006 11:51 AM

That was an easy choice. The next closest choices were Mike Portnoy and Mitch Mitchell. Anbd Keith Moon kicks their asses

Lunch 05-13-2006 11:53 AM

In the drummers poll, stickied at the top of the page.

n00b...

BludgeonySteve 05-13-2006 12:17 PM

Ahem! ninja edit.

(ok, maybe a slow ninja edit. But you have no proof!)

Ephemeral 05-13-2006 07:50 PM

I'm here!

BludgeonySteve 05-13-2006 07:53 PM

You sure are, dude. :thumb:

No ****ing contest. The next 10 are like piss compared to Daltry.

Lunch 05-13-2006 08:21 PM

That site has some pretty good lists. They also seem to like the Who, which is good.

Dragon_Prince 05-14-2006 02:36 AM

Gehe the list is OK, some would really have to be higher(Like Gabriel, Sting or Yorke) But it's cool they have rated Daltry, Gillian, Mercury, Buckley and even Torry so high

Lunch 05-14-2006 11:24 AM

Well no list is going to be perfect for everyone. I think overall though they do a much better job than lists in Rolling Stone and such.

Dragon_Prince 05-14-2006 11:25 AM

Yup, but that isn't really much harder. The main problems with lists is fanboys and not being objective, the results you can find here on mx ;)(who could anyone think Portnoy is great? :|)

JohnXDoesn't 05-14-2006 11:28 AM

I think lists are kind of B.S. And Dream Theater is crap. Sorry, but they are.
