Shape of Despair is always a good choice :D

the2stranger 08-12-2006 05:37 PM

Indeed, I bought Illusion's Play last week.
Although i''s too early to compare, but I think I like Angels Of Distress better.
You?

CabbageStabbage 08-12-2006 07:01 PM

I heard a track from Earth's album HEX. It is goood. It feels like driving music.. if you're driving at 5 mph. What's a good album by Earth?

TID22 08-12-2006 07:43 PM

I'm not much into this genre but I can say that Kyuss is good stuff for when you are a little..."spaced out" you could say

Kage 08-12-2006 08:04 PM

Anyone heard Ufomammut? They're a seriously heavy, brooding Italian progressive doom metal band, and very cool. I've gotten into them lately, though sometimes their vocals are a bit overkill for me. Regardless, it's good stuff.

Werny 08-12-2006 10:47 PM
Maybe I didn't put it right, the atmopshere is indeed different, but you can still hear the typical Skepticism sound.
The new stuff is scary. :upset:
But so good. \m/
I think that's one of the best things about them. Every release has a mood and atmosphere of its own, yet it's all unmistakably Skepticism.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 07:05 AM

^
True.
My love for funeral doom lately has been insane.
I love it and need more, way more. :)

Daven 08-13-2006 08:24 AM

Can someone recommend me bands like Skepticism, please. I've been lately listening to a lotr of funeral doom as well.

Apocalyptic Raids 08-13-2006 08:34 AM

Thergothon

It's hard to recommend anything that really sounds like Skepticism, cause they have such a unique sound.
The obvious recommendation would be Thergothon, but I'm sure you know them already.
Comatose Vigil is something you might also try, a lot of sick keyboard stuff.
although not the churchorgan sound of Skepticism.

repcak 08-13-2006 08:35 AM

Pantheist?

i have them as mp3 but i don't know if they sound like skepticism cause i a) never listened to pantheist and b) don't now skepticism well. i only listened to shape of despair yet.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 08:36 AM

Shape Of Despair. \m/
I love these guys (and gal :p)
To Live for My Death is my favorite song by them.

Daven 08-13-2006 08:36 AM

I've already heard Thergothon. I have Streams From The Heavens, though i havent given it a good listen yet.

I'll look for Comatose Vigil, thanks.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 08:39 AM

I hope you can find it, if not I'll upload it for you.

Daven 08-13-2006 08:41 AM

If you could upload, you'd be my hero. :p I tried on soulseek but nothing appeared.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 08:43 AM

Ok.
Expect it in a half an hour or so.

Daven 08-13-2006 08:48 AM

Thanks a lot. :)

the2stranger 08-13-2006 08:52 AM

Megaupload ok with you?

Daven 08-13-2006 08:53 AM

I'd prefer YSI or Sendspace, but whatever works to you is ok.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 09:07 AM

Alright, YSI it is, Sendspace is down for me :-\

I'm listening to the chilling sounds of Comatose Vigil right now, it's so eery.
Especially some of the grotesque chords that are used, they give me cold shivers.

Daven 08-13-2006 09:17 AM

They sound very good. Im in a funeral doom mood.

Reclusiam - Parasellar

the2stranger 08-13-2006 09:25 AM

/Just notices you can d/l Reclusiam for free.
:D

Daven 08-13-2006 09:47 AM

Haha, yeah from their website.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 09:52 AM

I'm listening now, it's pretty good.

YSI failed forme 4 times, so I'm doing Megaupload now, sorry. :(

Daven 08-13-2006 09:53 AM

It had been time since i listened to it.

No problem, Megaupload is ok.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 09:57 AM

It actually sounds a bit like COmatose Vigil, but comatose Vigil uses way more keyboards and layers even more.

Daven 08-13-2006 10:03 AM

Nice, i love when bands use keyborads.

the2stranger 08-13-2006 12:40 PM

What do you think about it?:)

Nepenthe 08-13-2006 08:28 PM
Awesome, how's it like?

I'm really loving the Mournful Congregation full length.
Everyone needs to hear it, that's how it's like. I lost it when my hard drive crashed again Thursday night, but I'll re-download it and share it with you guys, it's some of the best funeral doom I've ever heard.

(Evoken's promo, that is)

That would be awesome.
Sucks about the second hd crash. though.:(

Nepenthe 08-21-2006 06:29 PM

Yeah, and the third and fourth. Sorry, I no longer have that Promo, but I can send you their latest full length, Antithesis Of Light, which is actually better.

Does anyone have Tyranny's Tides Of Awakening? I'll buy a cake for the person who does.

Daven 08-21-2006 06:35 PM

I have a link for that album, Q.

Nepenthe 08-21-2006 06:38 PM

If you do that'd be awesome. I found three different links for it, but they are all expired.

You know my email. Thanks a ton in advance and expect a cake to be imported to you within the next 3-5 business days.

What could it be....

SENT

Nepenthe 08-21-2006 06:44 PM

If you don't mind me asking, where do you get your album links? I usually use Metal Area and can find anything I please, but there's been two albums that I couldn't find on there that you've been able to track down.

Daven 08-21-2006 06:49 PM

I found the Tyranny here:
http://xpeh.harddays.net/

And Release from Agony:
http://www.albumbase.com/

Nepenthe 08-21-2006 06:50 PM

Ah yeah Harddays. I supposed I should've checked there. I've never heard of albumbase though.

Daven 08-21-2006 06:52 PM

Album base has some good stuff, dont expect to find weird stuff in there though.

Hey how do you download albums off metal area? I remember checking, and they only post the image of the album, no link or anything.

Nepenthe 08-21-2006 06:53 PM

Yeah, you have to make an account for the links to show up. That one stumped me for quite a while too haha, and it being in all Russian does not help. I was able to navigate myself around well enough to make an account, and after that it's simple getting the albums.

Go ahead and try to make an account, as it's probably the best source of music on the web, but if you can't figure it out send me an IM (Quorthonace) and I can guide you through it.

Daven 08-21-2006 06:54 PM

Ok, thanks.
