White Riot! 03-11-2005 09:47 AM
.

Good point, do you have any ideas of what I could put on there.
You stole my name! lol

Jimmy jazz is a fuorking great song , lyrics are great and its got a nice jazz feel to it , feels like you are sitting in a club! :thumb:

Joe Strummer is a F>*king legend. Strummer was one of the ultimate performers of our time , his lyrics are briliant and always make you think and always gives multiple interpretation to the songs , he is one ofthe most innovative artists. Sandanista! is a great album to show you how diversethe clash were , the clash is the ultimate punk record , give em enough rope is pretty good combat rock has some great tunes , and london calling is a masterpiece of rock and roll and music in general.

The mescaleros were a original and fresh sounding band with joe's great songwriting

You cant forget Mick Jones either as he wrote some of the good songs like Stay Free and "lost in the supermarket" after the clash mick then went on to do B.A.D and produce the libertines which is pretty cool I reckon.

Joe was the Punk and master lyricist , who could write deep and great lyrics , Mick was a Great musician who could turn joe's energy into a catchy form , and bring his own great stuff to the table.

You gotta remember strummer only sang half of the songs really , he and mick were a pair.

Both are absolute legends.

Forest_Fire 03-11-2005 02:47 PM

Today in computer we got assigned our next 6 weeks project, and i have to do a powerpoint presentation that's at least 10 slides long. My topic is: The Clash. I know I should put in obvious things, such as band members and discography and bio, but are there any important or special things that you guys think i should put in?

RevengeOfTheVillageIdiot 03-11-2005 02:50 PM

their huge, huge influence.

they were pretty much the first band who mixed up different genres

guns_of_brixton 03-11-2005 03:56 PM

/didn't write the paper

chips88 03-11-2005 04:12 PM

when they beat down your front door
how you gonna go?
with your hands on your head
or on the trigger of your gun

ooooh, the Guns of Brixton!

"What do we have for entertainment?
Cops kickin’ gypsies on the pavement
Now the news - snap to attention!
The lunar landing of the dentist convention
Italian mobster shoots a lobster
Seafood restaurant gets outta hand
A car in the fridge
Or a fridge in the car?
Like cowboys do - in t.v. land"

Coma_Girl 03-11-2005 04:23 PM

i love the lyrics of guns of brixton...and it seems like a lot of people do, cause its an awesome song.I love clampdown. And lost in the supermarket.

Yankee dollar talk
To the dictators of the world
In fact it's giving orders
An' they can't afford to miss a word

I'm so bored with the U...S...A...
But what can I do?

from my canadian point of view, it sounds so true :p

I love how in Westway they wrote it on the ice cream shop's window with ice cream.

Coma_Girl 03-11-2005 04:33 PM

You gotta drag yourself to work
Drug yourself to sleep

i love this part of all the young punks too.and this one:

Face front you got the future shining
Like a piece of gold
But I swear as we get closer
It look more like a lump of coal
But it's better than some factory
Now that's no place to waste your youth
I worked there for a week once
I luckily got the boot

Forest_Fire 03-11-2005 04:38 PM

"Long distance callers make long distance calls
And the silence makes me lonely"

Lost in the supermarket

and if i remember right, then White Man In Hammersmith Palais hasa some good lines too.

guns_of_brixton 03-11-2005 04:41 PM

"All the young cunts, live it now
Cause there ain’t much to die for"

I love that part.

and these lines:

We had a hedge back home in the suburbs
Over which I never could see

and

I'm all tuned in, I see all the programmes
I save coupons from packets of tea
I've got my giant hit discoteque album
I empty a bottle and I feel a bit free

it's such a great song with great lyrics.Joe wrote it for Mick and in The Last Testament dvd, Mick says he was happy that Joe wrote that thinking about him

guns_of_brixton 03-11-2005 04:47 PM

I love the guitar solo in that song.

Forest_Fire 03-11-2005 04:48 PM

It ain't Coca-Cola it's rice." -straight to hell

"Koka Kola advertising and kokaine
Strolling down the Broadway in the rain
Neon light sign says it
I read it in the paper-they're crazy!
Suit your life, maybe so
In the White House-I know
All Over Berlin (they've been doing it for years)
And in Manhattan!" - koka kola

"This is Joe Public speaking
I'm controlled in the body, controlled in the mind" - complete control

"Frederico Lorca is dead and gone" -spanish bombs

"This sound does not subscribe to the international plan
in the psycho shadown of the white right hand
then that see ghettology as an urban vietnam
giving deadly exhibitions of murder by napalm" -this is radio clash

Nice to listen to when in a quiet mood.

Brain Toad 03-11-2005 11:33 PM

let fury have the hour?redemption song:the balad of joe strummer?joe strummer and the legend of the clash?

Brain Toad 03-11-2005 11:44 PM

Let Fury Have the Hour was the one. They had a couple other good punk books, but I didn't feel like reading anymore of those type of books so I didn't buy it.
