http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/patches.jpg And here's the patches that I haven't finished yet: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/mrbungle.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/portishead.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/toasters.jpg
Whoa, those patches are really really good. They look as good as the ones you buy... mine always come out as complete crap. I'm impressed. And mad props to the Rocko's Modern Life pin. :thumb: |

I also make my own patches. The way I do this is I print out the image that I want from my computer onto some cardboard-ish material. Then I cut the image like a stencil and use fabric paint. Fabric paint pens work a lot better then just bottles of fabric paint, but they run out much faster. Here's some of the patches that I have finished: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/patches.jpg And here's the patches that I haven't finished yet: http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/mrbungle.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/portishead.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/toasters.jpg
How think of a cardboard do you use? I've been thinking of doing the same thing, but I don't know what to use to make the stencil out of. |
Allrighty, here's my DIY stuff.
I have a button maker, and I usually sell my buttons for a dollar, but I also use it just to make buttons for myself. Here's some of the buttons I've made. Most of these suck, though. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v614/asdfqaz/buttons.jpg
how big are those? centimeters or inches? i'd totally buy one, except i have a pin-making contraption but the pins are fricken an inch and a half... im gonna use photo paper to make patches now! (the stiff stuff) EDIT: i'd do the streetlight but i want to try something with a stencil and i think it'd be a little hard |
i made some patches

It doesn't have to be all that thick. More like extra thick paper than cardboard is what I use. Since I design the stuff on the computer (or just print the logo off from the computer) I don't want to use something that's too thick to go through the printer. The thing is, if you are just going to draw the image you want to cut freehand, you might want to use something as thick as regular cardboard, because my stencils get ruined if I use them more then once, usually. I guess it depends how detailed the stencil is. |
I spray painted my avatar on the back of my jacket last night

I just made a new stencil method. For those of you who are articiscally challenged or just lazy to draw on cardboard here's a method. You will need:
A printed image of what you are making a stencil of An Xacto knife Duct tape First you cut out the image you are making a stencil of, cut it out like you would a stencil etc. Once this is finished get your duct tape and get a piece thats the right length, with wome over hang. Now take the xacto knife and cut off the excess tape all around, now you have a stencil that should last you a few paintings. If you want extra protection, after doing the first part, put another piece of duct tape on the other side and do the same. Small details will be hard, but those are hard on regulars stencils too. |

Nice idea, unless you live in a little hickass town like mine, with no such place around.
